Re: SPEED BLEEDERS for brakes, clutches ETC
You will need three for the brakes and one for the clutch. I've never had an issue reaching the lever with one hand and the bleed screws with the other. Also be sure to keep any brake fluid from hitting the plastics. ABS will crumble apart if exposed to brake fluid. There is an access hole in the l...

Re: 99 1500 29,000 miles, Rough engine at 65+
I'm looking for help troubleshooting a rough engine at higher speeds, 65+ and heavy acceleration. It acts like one cylinder is cutting out. The roughness continues sometimes even at idle. (Vac leak?) Let it sit for a couple weeks or a month and it will run again, until high speed... This started ov...

Re: final drive problems
I use those hand drawn diagrams near religiously, never seen a discrepancy.
Reprints & copies erode the pix quality & have to either study it hard or look elsewhere for another pix.
For what the larger end goes into, I'd say you have it correct, via the diagram.

Re: Odometer numbers not aligned
My million odometer (top one) the 4th digit went partial while riding.
1,000 miles later it straightened itself out.
IF i can find that green gear this odometer can be up & running again.

Re: Gl1500 Fairing
I've read some installed the GL1800 fairing on the 1500. Never seen a final pix, but I have no doubt it works with custom modding. Back when Craig Vetter was still in the beginning stage of his Rifle Fairing, I asked if anyone tried fitting it to a GL1500. He said he didn't nor heard of anyone else....

Re: Q for all bikes (speedo cable).
Thanks S. After the first cable fail on my '60s Triumph (rough 1969 memory $1.80) I've diligently checked for cable curvature. When I pulled the cable out from the topside the broken end went to a fairly straight section. Also the outer sheath showed no signs of stress or bend compression, hence my ...

Re: Q for all bikes (speedo cable).
Yup, both ends are free. Lower gear is new & still greased. Odometer has zero drag, no detente's throughout 0.12 of a mile & no needle wobble. I'm surmising these mfgs are going as cheap as possible. This last (Feb) inner cable (by memory) seems a bit smaller in diameter while the outer is n...

Q for all bikes (speedo cable).
Replaced the speedo cable 2022, forgot the mfg.. That cable broke & in Feb 2024 bought Pro Motion speedo cable. Installed and 6 months later the core cleanly snapped in half. #2 cable I pulled out before installing to check for lube, it was. Is this occurring more often lately or did I simply ge...

Gives us relief you found it.
Do check those fuel lines clamps. I believe if I road a few minutes more, POOF-FLAMES. It was that bad.

Re: Ignition Switch
Had this happen to me 4 months ago. [ 1991 GL1500 ] Stuffed an old white T-Shirt under the lock and sprayed Brake Cleaner in the tumblers and trying the key. Eventually it began to work. Did that 3 times more then a good spray of 'Liquid Wrench' (NOT WD40), and worked the key in BOTH directions. Wor...

1ST, go into the relay box, to the right of fuse box.
Left saddlebag take out the Top Front, Lower Front, Lower rear and leave in but loosen the Top Right.
Then the relay cover will slide out. (Designer slept late on that one ).
Switch LOW & HIGH beams relays & test.

Re: Burning issue with tall windshield
Just finished repairing my gauge face. SEVERAL cracks, 2 pieces missing (really odd where they went). Felt like I was doing micro surgery, some pieced were 3/16 & shaped in a Z which makes it that much thinner & tedious. Where ever there's beaks or cracks I melt in some fine wire where it wo...

EZ-PEEZY Bike wash'n
I posted elsewhere but figured since I did, heck, why not everyone use these. . I 'ALWAYS' dreaded washing my bikes, cars & trucks. Power-wash was my friend, tho now expensive. Bike washing is a pain with all the seemingly endless NOOKS & CRANNIES. Not to mention those areas a 'rag-on-a-stic...

Re: clean up
Home garden hose is fine, it's the high pressure that gets into the electrical system. Look around the bikes insides you'll see connectors are (should be) pointing down. One bike I used a zip-lock sandwich bag to encase a connection, mainly because I was using a pressure washer. It was the only conn...

Re: ASHEVILLE FLOOD DON'T COME HERE
Picked up my first Wing (83-A) in Asheville, west-northwest area. Didn't have time to look around, just in, load go. They say go to the high ground when it rains a lot to avoid floods, looks like that's been debunked. Glad to hear you're all getting basic services back. Considering the devastation, ...

Just info...
I could have washed & waxed this but some of us want to see the items history (dirt).
The only piece I didn't mention was the Clock button boot is missing. It goes in & turns, guessing it's good, if not switch yours.

Re: Gas Smell
Check fuel lines to each carb.
My right one snapped its wire clamp.
Same as you couldn't see anything on the ground so started pulling here & there, POP off it came.
When it comes to fuel I now double up my clamps.
The bike can burn & be replaced, not me.
