Re: Weird starting issue

See if there's a OHM fluctuation from the starter housing and the motor. It's best to use alligator clips for non-movable connections otherwise you'll get a false reading. Once the wires are connected, manually push & pull the starter. ANY fluxuation, that should be the culprit. I've read some w...

Re: Weird starting issue

2 posts on other websites, #3 is mine. 1.) Bad ground wire(s). Some test using jumper cable from battery neg to starter frame NOT its bolts. 2.) Poor starter ground. Bolts on starter housing is the ground, clean surfaces. 3.) Battery level looked good but at the lower line. Added dehumidifier water ...

Re: GL1500 Rear Shock Alternative

I got interested in and asked about their self leveling shock, got an email back.
They 'don't make a shock for the Goldwing... yet'.
So maybe a spark has been lit?

Re: How to remove and replace your timing belts

That giant-cell foam used on the computer fans is not going to do much in the bike, dirt and dust will fly right through those filters. The OEM foam filters in there are made of very small-cell foam, and will catch very small particles. Most of those PC board foam is large cell and don't use it. On...

Re: Gas tank horror..

When ethKRAPanol first came out in the very late 70s our shop FLATLY REFUSED to use it. Early 80s we tried it in a couple of units and quickly found they wouldn't start in the winter. Dissected the fuel system and found very similar to your posted pix. Lucky we had truck systems so everything was la...

Re: URGENT: Bike SUDDENLY won't start???????!!!!!!!!

I am thinking that some folks just like to be pickey and if they don't like the way you comb your hair you get a thumbs down. I was supposing that the thumb down was for strong disagrement or something outright wrong but it seems that is not the case many times. The only ones I would worry about ar...

Re: How to remove and replace your timing belts

I have a 1990 GL1500. I bought it in 2018 with only 10,000 miles on it. ... Now, just to replace 2 stinkin foam filters, I have to remove my sidecar "" AGAIN "" to get the right side panel off. I guess it's going to be one of those days...... LoL. THANK YOU 4 PROVIDING SUCH USEF...

Surgical hose will not last. I left a piece in the sun and it went to mush. I got my vac hose at Napa auto store. ODDLY they only had SAE sizes and no metric. But the 2 I needed fit fine. If not a few windings of wire before pushing it on works. A hose that's too small (if it's thick enough) can be...

If he got stuck in the water, you had a duty to stop and call law enforcement. And then spend 20 minutes laughing at him while his car got fished out. Seriously, going into the ditch without a report can be explained, maybe even covered by insurance, but doing so while playing on his phone would li...

Re: The War on Distracted Drivers (VIDEO)

YESTERDAY here's this magnetic sign on a car door 'Student Driver School' to my right on a 4+1 center lane turn roadway and were coming to a red light. I stopped but that student driver went right on through as if it were green. BTW: spanish to English conversion of RED is parada (parade) so I guess...

Re: The War on Distracted Drivers (VIDEO)

Over half century of riding this finally happened to me earlier this week. I was on a 2 lane road and in a long sweeping left turn, oncoming has the inside lane of course. This situation always perks me up since distracted drivers will usually fade to the left & into the oncoming traffic. Well ...

I picked up a Endoscope couple months ago, it was a $40 cheapy with it's own smartphone sized screen. Almost retires my swivel mirrors but there's times one needs a 3D view.
GREAT tool when your back hurts or the ground is wet. ;)

You could take a split wire loom and include the clutch hose with said wires.
Or will that get me another 'thumb down' for offering a suggestion?

Re: Darkside Tech: Using Car Tires on a Motorcycle Rim

I've DARKSIDED for about 10 years now, still going strong. 250k miles, currently on my 5th car tire on a GL1500. ONE accident at highway speed pulling my trailer, tire stayed on the rim (I was hit from behind). Couple years ago napkin calculating DARKSIDEing has over a Billion miles. In all that tim...

Well here's my dilemma. I am about 15 min from getting the carbs off, I was hoping to get away with a visual inspection by borescope but I don't think that will do. IF you still have the CARBS off, look at these hose's. (PIX) The upper left hose I had a pinhole but when I took it off it tore open to a HUGE hole. Parts store didn't have that size hose so I used a piece of soft copper tube inside it. Bent it to match the elbow (used sand inside to keep the inner ...

JUST POSTING for any stubborn nut or bolt. Pull out your PATIENCE TOOL, you're going to need it. Use a breaker bar or vise-grips and liquid nut buster (a ratchet wrench you'll grow tired of flipping to forward/reverse switch), use VERY LITTLE increments of back & forth movements on that bolt or...

Re: Noise coming from under engine.

A sound clip could help. Pan side to side and pan right to left side of the bike equally. It'll help zero in where it's coming from. Few years ago I used to get a hollowed sounding squeal while riding. Only happened 3 times & never happened since. Of those 3 times I did partially zero in it came...

Be very careful you guys... The big bad wolf is watching and waiting. Big-Bad-Wolf already stopped by TWICE. Once 70s another early-mid 2K. Both times they were just barking (no warrant or court order). 2nd time they barked, I pointed to a few 'TREES' (houses) to go sniff. Couple months later immig...
