Re: Seat tear at seam on OEM Seat

This is so frustrating, I mean, WOW! such a popular Bike on the road, made to last for so long it;s crazy yet they make a Vinyl seat for it ( fairly thin really ) and then on the stress points, for "Looks" I guess, they heated up and melted into the vinyl a stitching brand! GRRR! Why? The...

Re: Fuel leak

Odd since I use Carb Cleaner to wipe it clean & dry then it burbles out at the base of the needle going into the piston. I've not opened the carb yet, hoping to thwart that issue. Vac leaks? Oh I know those critters too well. BTW: It's just the left carb... if it means anything. Also it's on the...

Fuel leak

My 1500 has been rather ornery lately, idle surge but runs good at speed. Opened the air-box and noticed this while idling (pix) and seems to flow slightly more at minuscule partial throttle. If it's torn, which diaphragm is best other than OEM, which is too UBER-EXPENSIVE. . Vacuum Piston and needl...

Re: Japanese Industrial Standard Screwdriver - How to make

Grinding a standard Phillips screwdriver tip to 57 degrees is easy when you use a drill bit angle finder/setter.
Same said if you have an adjustable protractor.

Re: Tar Snakes

Rubberized crack repair. When dry they aren't bad but they'll give you an uneasy squirm in turns. They stretch to a point then that's it. When they're wet no difference than wet tar. Late 70s to roughly mid-late 80s. What I miss are the mixed sand and tar filled cracks. At least they had some grit f...

Re: Karkakyn ISO grips for Goldwing

Ebay has ISO's rather cheap. Regular size grips vs GL's, our's are a longer neck towards the bar switches, otherwise the ISO's are the same. I've ripped one grip and found just the base part of the pad was tore. I used RTV Black to mend it back. Then RTV to slip on when wet. Still holding, tho a smi...

Re: Alternatives for $89 radiator hose.

Between the two radiators there is a small hose that is listed as part 22 and costs $89! Web capture_16-4-2022_44339_www.dealercostparts.com.jpeg What size fuel line -- maybe 8mm -- would be a good replacement for this less than a foot of tubing that is so grossly over-priced? The original is liste...

Re: side luggage doors

Knowing how they got bent in the first place, then reverse bend them back. The metal is a bit on the soft side, so be careful not to bent too many times. The curve tube can be bent by hand using a wood block (or similar) as a movement stopper. That's usually where they bend. Think it through, go in...

Nobody around here will work on alternators anymore, its replacement only. We have become a throw away society. ( SAD :( ) They're really not that difficult to work on. Just a few easily breakable pieces to watch out for. The worst part are the coils but there's videos on the Net that show you unwi...

One of the MANY adjustments I have to... regularly readjust... is the her side saddlebag hinges. Constantly over stuffing instead of folding or rolling coats, pants, helmet, well not the helmet. What's also going to break if it hasn't already are your saddlebag side reflector or lights. I acquired a...

Couple quick things to try. With motor running, compress air into the rear of the Alt. thru the openings. Small hammer tap on the casing's rear. Brushes might be stuck from brush powder. Brushes AND rear bearing are easily changeable but CARE! must be taken separating the case. There's a thin hard p...

Well, kinda moot point for me now. I decided to try a ... Kenda Cruiser K671... rear tire instead. ... While Kenda says this tire is not recommended for high load vehicles, it is rated for 600 lbs, which is the same as the BattleAx, so not worried about it. You'll find getting over 25K miles on you...

Re: My passenger is cold

BMW cockpits are a smaller windshield envelope. Should be your wind problem. Winglets only reach back so far but Wings are a much larger cockpit. Been a long while ago, (if memory serves) someone tried a longer Winglet off the fairing and it worked. But of course it interfered with the driver. Only ...

That's rather interesting, CHANGED COLORS.
JUST wondering if any coolant mfg ever tried special chemicals in their coolant to signify proper mixture and for foreign elements are becoming present.
Could save an engine or at least keep maintenance costs down.

You need to see the tire's sticker also?
