I was wondering which one pictured / sold via this site is the one for the 1000. Looking at the pics I don't recognize the ends corresp...

78 tank gauges - no worky - no lights - 7vquestion
Hi All Ok getting back to this project. 78 GL. I'm not sure the tank gauges were working/lit up when I bought it. They certainly don't work now.... I will freely admit elec. is not my thing. I do know to chk fuses and such but my knowledge is limited. So...with that up front.... I am trying to figur...

Re: Breaking up with an older bike
I think It is going to be a lot easier for me to let one go if I have an interest in trying something else. Yeah, I could keep them all but they are taking up too much space as it is. Do I get rid on one or two then buy the bike I've been pondering or get it and then let them go. Sometimes you have ...

Re: Parting out 78 GL 1000
My computer and I must have missed getting the notice you sent a message. Doh! If still available I am interested in just the tank lid. the part with the lock and emblem. I am replacing an OK lid other than the fact the vinyl is cut in one place. So it would have to look better than the one I have. ...

Re: Parting out 78 GL 1000
If you are still paring out the 78.... I'd be interested in a seat, the false tank cover, and a little less so - the exhaust. condition on exhaust/seat - need to be good to excellent to justify shipping I'd like the tank cover to be good too, not too worried about the shipping on this tho. thanks my...

Re: Solution to overflowing float valves.. The unseatable on
I had a sticky needle valve or something blocking it open - leaking fuel out bottom of #3. I knew I'd be removing the carbs. Was not sure what to do. Did a search; saw this post and buffed the point with 2k grit. took off the spring/wire that sits on the tang - presumably the self-centering device a...

WTB 75-77 muffler
Hi,
Looking to buy a stock/in good condition muffler for my first year GL.
The one I have is ok, but I am looking for one I can ceramic coat. I have found an extra set of headers so good there.
Thanks,
PONY

Re: 1100 final drive bolt torque issue.
I like it. very dumb question...tho I don't quite understand how lifting the scale on the end of the wrench torques the nut. obviously it doesn't. correct? you are pulling on the wrench no, until the scale reaches the reading not the other way around? Do you hook the scale to something? I don't see ...

Re: 78 GL1000 parts
Hi, mufflers first, then the headers. both I guess if the price is right. The ones on the mufflers have issues....dents, battery acid. I The ones on the headers aren't seen that much so I could live with those or take them off and ceramic coat the headers. I'd like them to be "nice" as in ...

1100 final drive bolt torque issue.
I put a new tire on my 83 1100 I. I had no luck getting a socket on the 3 nuts that hold the final drive to the drive shaft/swingarm. I tightened them good, but without a torque wrench. Anyone else have this problem? So if you can't get a socket on a bolt and you really need to have that torque valu...
