No Crank No Start

I have a 2010 Navi Comfort and when I go to start I don't get any clicking noise either from the relays or the starter. The headlight dims and draws on the battery and drains it pretty fast. I am thinking if it was a starter I would get the relay noise. Looking at the drawings, the reverse regulator...

Re: Audio system power output

Can someone tell me how much power the speakers on a 1994 GL1500SE can handle? I'm thinking of adding an amplifier to my bike so I can plug in an SD card full of music. It looks pretty straightforward to put a DP4T switch on the speaker outputs on the radio so that the speakers could be fed from ei...

Re: Front and rear speaker upgrade

When I first installed Polk speakers they sounded awful, worse than the originals. until I discovered my radio unit had a naff amp chip. Being in the UK I could not get it upgraded, So I decided to re wire the speakers, install a Rockford Fosgate amp, competition cap, and 8" subwoofer.... OMG....

Front and rear speaker upgrade

I have completed my speaker upgrade. I installed the Polk Audio db501's (5") in the rear and the db651's (6.5") in the front. In the rear I only had to slightly rotate the speakers to get enough plastic to allow me to drill new holes as the stock did not match up. As for the front, I opted...

Re: USB plugs

I mounted a dual USB port in the left box. That one is plugged into the factory connector. All the other accessory power comes off a dedicated low voltage drop out solid state relay. This relay will drop out at 11.5V and allow you to still start the bike. The control power for the relay coil comes o...

Re: oem grips removal

has anyone tried a heat gun? The left grip is installed with glue. If you try to remove it without the correct tool, you run the risk of breaking the heating element as I believe they are thin fiberglass. I have attached a couple pictures of the tool I used. 1. Place the split clamp on the bar but ...

Re: DIY Cheap Common Negative Ground / Hot Blocks

First, welcome! In the picture below you can see in the lower right corner is the ground buss that I installed under the seat. It is connected directly to the battery's negative post. In the top right you can see I also installed a solid state relay for my aux switches. The relay is powered off the ...

Re: Zūmo 590LM and alert devices

Just an update. I installed the Zūmo 590 and hardwired it to my clutch lever master cylinder switches. I used a Cellset module and connected the GPS to it. Then the module was connected to the intercom at the passenger's plug under the seat. The Zūmo also has a USB power port so that was routed to t...

Zūmo 590LM and alert devices

I finally broke down and bought the Zūmo 590LM GPS and have it installed on my 2010 NaviComfort. Now I would like to be able to utilize the bluetooth feature of the unit to send and receive calls via my iPhone. Will it work with the standard plugs or do I need to buy all of the Cellset stuff in orde...

Re: oem grips removal

These are my iso grips over the OEM heated grips. I don't have any issues with the heat. It just takes a bit longer to warm up due to the added mass and much more comfortable if you have bigger hands.

Oscillating RPM's At Idle

When I bought my 1800 new the dealer told me that the oscillating idle was normal. So I excepted that and carried on. I have since put on a new exhaust and a K&N air filter. With increase in air flow I wanted to make sure the air/fuel mixture didn't lean out so I have also installed a Power Comm...

Re: gl1800 light kit blowing fuse

If the switches are directly linked to your battery and the 10 amp fuse is blowing I would look at the switch. If they are similar to the ones I have, the covers are pretty good about keeping water out but the seal between the switch and the housing leaves some room for improvement.

Battery Charger / Conditioner

I got tired of having to remove the side cover when I am not able to ride the bike. So I found an awesome charger/conditioner for my lithium battery. They just so happen to also make a remote charging port! I mounted the port in the left side glove box. Now I just open the box and plug in. And the b...

Re: Speaker Upgrade

And are the speakers waterproof? gary Sorry to take so long getting back, I just wanted to cover all the bases. I guess I got a little ahead of myself. I just assumed that because the kit was sold as a motorcycle specific unit that waterproofing would not be an issue. There was nothing stating this...

Re: Luxury Sport Touring (LST) Helibars

The most important is the fact that they are adjustable. They have four adjustable pivots. 1. Riser Clamps - Crossbar rotates moving grips forward/backwards 2. Crossbar Pivot - Rotates to raise/lower grips 3. Bar Pivot - Moves the grips in or out to adjust grip angle in relation to the rider (bar en...

Relay supplied switches

I have added two of the 3 switch master cylinder rocker switch housings. I put in a solid state low voltage dropout relay. This will drop out at 11.5 volts and allow the bike to still start. The relay coil is supplied from the ignition switched accessory fuse. The supply side of the relay has a 10 A...

Re: Battery Status & Replacement

The only way to know the actual condition of your battery is to take it to a local auto parts store and have them test it under load. As for the Lithium batteries, I have been using these for several years in the marine industry. The new lithium batteries do not actually have lithium metal in them. ...
