Re: CB Channel

If you are near any larger truck stop chances are there will be a CB shop there. Most every CB shop located in or near to a truck stop will do SWR checks. Also, the procedure is not all that complex, and most anyone with minimum mechanical skills can do this. You will need to purchase an SWR meter, ...

Re: CB Channel

Yes, that is correct, the damage would only happen if you were to key the microphone and attempt to transmit, in receive it will not harm your radio. As a side note, the better the match (lower the SWR) the better receive range!

Re: CB Channel

I want to clarify the reason for the braided ground to the frame verses the black wire, I noticed I omitted that from my very long post. The black wire is the electrical ground for the radio's circuits, the braided ground that I highly suggest you install is the RF GROUND! Sorry for the multiple pos...

Re: CB Channel

If you take the finals out, it will normally cost you more to have the radio repaired then it would to buy a new C.B.

Re: CB Channel

Good question, YES! You can damage the radio if the SWR is very high! Most C.B.s, but not all have a circuit within them to limit output in to a bad match in order to protect the final transistors (The finals are the power makers) Make sure you have a good SWR meter, do not rely on the SWR meter tha...

Re: CB Channel

The problem with lack of range most of the time with C.B. radios is not that the radios are under powered, but rather the installation of the equipment, ei: antenna(s) Ground plane, RF ground, physical placement of the antenna(s) as well as local terrain have a lot to do with the ability to "get out...

Re: Wet intake runners

It is fuel, but it seems to be improving as I ride the bike. I am using seafoam in it as per instructed with every tank of fuel. I am pretty sure it was crud in the carbs now as it is idling as it should and return to idle from an open throttle position better.

Wet intake runners

Okay, I synched the carbs this morning, after about 45 minutes I have all 4 within 1 (one) inch of each other plus or minus 1/2 an inch (as displayed on analog guages. The engine drops from open throttle to idle somewhat faster now, but not as quickly as it should. I am noticing that the port screws...

Re: Best battery deal?

We have a retailer here in Oregon called "Batteries+Plus" and they have batteries for EVERYTHING! Although the GL1100 is very new to me, I have 2 Harleys, a '70 and an '82, both of which are running sealed, spill proof motorcycle batteries from this vender. I too have a battery tender on each and th...

Can anyone confirm these part numbers for me?

Good Friday to everyone, Can anyone confirm the following numbers for me? I am looking for replacement timing belts for me 1982 Gl1100, the numbers I came up with are as follows: Honda part #14400-371-04/14400-371-14 Gates #T274 NAPA #250274 Goodyear Gatorback #40274 I am a little leary of buying pa...

Re: My idle problem revisted

Got the slides out (one at a time) polished and back in! They slide like warm butter on the kitchen floor! no sticking or binding anywhere. It was harder to pull the seat and false tank then it was to pull the slides! I was pleasently suprised 8-) I will go to the local Baxter's auto parts tomorrow ...

Re: My idle problem revisted

I appreciate all your advice! I took the plunge and bought 4 vacuum guages from Harbor Freight and then went to the pet store and got 4 shut off valves for aquarium tubing. I went to Home depot and got some nylon irrigation fittings with 5mm threads for adaptors to hook the hoses to the test ports. ...

Re: My idle problem revisted

I do not have backfire at any time, so from your explanation it must not be the air cut off valve. I am going to pull and clean/polish the slides today and Saturday I am going to synch the carbs myself. After reading several tech tips and how-to articles, I decided to save my hard in cash, buy the m...

Re: My idle problem revisted

Thank you and I will check that out. I will have to research and find an exploded view so that I know exactly what I am looking for. I am guessing these slides are under the domes on top of each of the carbs..... I have seen posts where everyone says to polish the carb slides.

My idle problem revisted

As I posted earlier this week, I got a 1982 Gl110 Interstate that other than not wanting to settle down to an idle, and making idle screw adjustments with no effect I asked and got plenty of advice. Today I was reading a post and someone with an 1100 has a bike that will not idle, and has to keep re...

Re: Just wanted to show her off!

By the way, I found a paint supplier who can match the older, vintage Honda OEM paint codes (mine is candy wineberry red #R-114C-U) If you need your vintage paint matched, try Ditzler Automotive Finishes!

Just a note!

I Know you all are grinning at the situation, not at me! Some of the best laughs are those created by a situation, not the person involved in the creation of the situation! Besides, I can take a good ribbing and keep on ticking!

Can your neighbor's buddy do the job for you at your place with your tools? Since he has finished the GW portion of his course he might be able to do that for you in the 3-4 hour time frame. Just a thought!

The proper way to post photos?

Greetings, Not only am I a "new" used Goldwing owner with a lot of questions about my '82 Gl1100, I am also one of those folks who are computer challanged at times, and this is one of those times.... I wanted to post the photos of my GL in another forum on this site and when I did, only half the pho...

I will see later if I can do better, or even better just got to my photos in member pictures. Again, thank you for the heads up on where to find the mod...
