Re: ummm Shop manuals anyone?

Thanks for the info BRIANINMAINE. I think that 5$ site would be worth it for downloadable Honda shop manuals. I wish they had a way to preview a few pages. Did you subscribe to that site and if so how did the manuals look?

Re: Testing my Alternator on my 1985 GL1200!

The Poor Boy add on alternator kit for the goldwing is definately cheaper and easier than replacing the stator. If you do decide to go that route prepare to do a little grinding on the new alterantor to get it to fit. I have the kit on my bike with a 2" pulley on the crank and a 2" pulley on the alt...

Re: "slapping noise" at low rpm

Could it be the left timing belt slapping? Maybe the tensioner is going out.

Re: could it be the starter

Hey Gary, A good way to test the starter is to hook a jump box directly to the starter. The long bolts that hold the endcaps on to the starter make an easy clip point for the negative lead (black) on the jump box and guarantee a good ground. Then clip the red (positive) to the input bolt on the star...

Re: Bolt on drivers backrest only

I have a 1200 but was going through the classifieds on this site and noticed this seatback for a 1500. Not sure it would work but worth looking at. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3326

ummm Shop manuals anyone?

So I know Honda or someone put the pressure on this wonderful site to remove some of their shop manuals which really sucks for all of us old GW owners. Bad enough Honda wont work on my 85 LTD and wont even make parts for it anymore. (finding a TPS is a nightmare!) Now they dont want me to have the c...

Re: Starts when Cold, Not when Hot

Glad you got everything fixed up and you are riding. If that ever happens again a good way to test the starter is to hook a jump box directly to the starter. The long bolts that hold the endcaps on to the starter make an easy clip point for the negative lead on the jump box and guarantee a good grou...

Re: Goldwing 1200ltd Radio Question HELP....

I dont mean to insult you but first lets cover the basics since the bike is new to you. I would first check to make sure the mute button isnt pressed (by the air adjustment buttons on the clutch side of the handlebars) The second thing id check is to make sure the headset button isnt pressed. It is ...

Re: helmets

I just got pulled over tonight in Omaha NE and got a ticket for wearing a non DOT approved helmet. (one fo those little dorky beany looking ones) The ticket was 98$ and the officer lectured me on the dangers of how non DOT helmets can shatter and the shrapnel can stick into your skull. He said he wa...
