Re: beware cyclemax slipstream windshield

Gap didn't tighten up w/ screws clamped down. Vent came from Cyclemax previously and mounted to the stock windshield just fine. Could have ordered the more expensive windshield with the vent installed, but there was no indication that the windshield was thicker and the component vent that they also ...

beware cyclemax slipstream windshield

Ordered and received a Slipstream factory height windshield from Cyclemax for my GL 1500. This product is the worst aftermarket item I’ve experienced in 39 years of riding motorcycles, the last 5 on a GL1500. I’ve ordered several items from Cyclemax in the past. The windshield is too thick – 4.7 mm ...

side cover replacement

Has anyone replaced a side cover on a GL1500 and moved the Goldwing emblem ($65) and script text ($40) over to the new cover ($330)? Really Honda? $400+ for a side cover? Emblems appear to be adhered as there are no push pins on the back side of the cover, only small studs. Thanks for looking.

Re: Brake pedal adjustment

I cant rotate the pedal arm on the spindle - the mount for the footpeg hits the pedal arm so it cant rotate any more counterclockwise. Has anyone else experienced this? Picture attached.

Brake pedal adjustment

Tried to adjust the brake pedal. Found the adjusting nut on the rod connecting to the master cylinder. On the right side of the bike, I turned the rod in the up direction (counterclockwise viewing seated on the bike). the pedal raised maybe 1/8" and stopped, then I ran out of rod at the clevis conne...

Re: gl 1500 sidestand

I should have a chance to take off the heat shield covers when I install the shift brace, so maybe some pics then.

Re: gl 1500 sidestand

Thanks for the comments. I checked out the frame rail and sidestand and all looks good. Bike only had 12K miles on it when I bought it a couple years ago. I just think the sidestand is a little short for an 800+ lb bike.

Re: gl 1500 sidestand

Thanks for the comments. I'll take a look underneath , which never occurred to me to check. Now I want to get a tattoo of the throttle twist arrow on RoadRogue's avatar though, so thanks for that too.

gl 1500 sidestand

Is it just me or is the sidestand on the gl 1500 too short? Seems like the bike leans waaay over when on the sidestand and it is no featherweight to lift off. Has anyone fitted at longer model?

Re: gl 1500 front wheel covers off

Thx Bellboy40. Yes it is hot here for the summer, but alas, Colorado is only 60 miles away, 14K' mountains are 150 miles. To answer Bill's question, yes, I took off the plastic chrome wire brace at the back of the fender. I inserted a rubber coated loop wire brace ($.79 from the hardware store) to h...

Quick pic attached w/ front covers removed. The current generation wing also does not use covers. I like being able to see rotors & calipers re: safety & service also.

gl 1500 front wheel covers off

Does anybody run their gl 1500 w/o the front wheel covers? I think the front wheel looks great without them.
