What do I need to know about 1990 GL1500?

I currently ride a GL1200 Standard and have no plan of selling it but a friend is now unable to ride and offered me his GL1500 at a very low price. I do intend to buy it and this would make the 4th Goldwing I've owned. I do not recall him having any issues with it but I haven't been paying attention...

Tazwell Va and the Back of the Dragon are great. Another option is the Birmingham area around Barber's Motor Sport Museum. If you've not been there it is well worth seeing.

Claw of the Dragon/Back of the Dragon has many different routes of varying lengths and all within a 50 mile or so radius. No where near as crowded as Tail of the Dragon or Maggie Valley. That'd be my vote.

Re: HELP! On road trip ~400 miles from home

Apparently so. I’m not going to wait on it to quit so I went ahead and ordered a new one. Twenty dollar part isn’t going to ruin my next trip.

Re: HELP! On road trip ~400 miles from home

You nailed it! It's the fuel pump! A more mechanically inclined friend came over and he found it within 5 seconds of cranking. Thank-you for the help and I am greatly relieved it's not something more serious!

Re: HELP! On road trip ~400 miles from home

Well, got up this morning, checked everything out and everything sounded normal so I hit the road (at 3AM to beat the heat and traffic). Bike ran perfect and no problems, just rolled into home and still no more clicking or ticking. Gremlins disappeared.

No sir it doesn’t. Seems consistent no matter the rpm. Bike just turned over 60k.

HELP! On road trip ~400 miles from home

Parked bike on side stand, came back out of restaurant, cranked it and heard tapping which sounded like right cylinder head. Put on center stand, checked oil, fine and clean, let it sit for 30 minutes, cranked it again and now it sounds like it’s in the middle of engine towards the rear, aft of carb...

Re: Please tell who or what made you buy a Goldwing

I am not knocking Harley's but on two different Harleys I've set off on road trips and had break downs. I've had three Gold Wings and NEVER failed to complete my trips with nothing more than a flat tire. I've put over 100K on two of them and working hard to do that to my current one. I just love Hon...

Might could find a good used one on E-bay and not have to cut and splice.

Additional lights kill the stator?

Thinking about adding a couple of aux lights to the front to see and be seen and have been told that they will kill my stator. Even if they are LED or is this a false statement?

Average Gas Mileage?

I have a 1984 GL1200 Standard, I average around 200 miles per tank. Is that about what everyone is getting? I thought I was doing ok and a guy told me that he could get 300 out of his to which I asked what he gets if he gets out on the road above 35?

Need source for turn signal switch

I have a 1984 GL1200 Standard and can't find a new turn signal switch, anybody found an aftermarket that will work? Mine only has dimmer, turn and horn on it. Would like to keep it stock but don't see that happening as Honda doesn't offer it any longer. I've taken it apart and cleaned contacts but s...
