Re: headset /mic for a GL1800 wing
Understand your reasoning and why it works for you. Cardo's lasting for life might be a stretch as things do wear out and go bad like batteries, etc. For me, I don't want to have to worry about another thing to charge at the end of the day or running out of battery on along ride, and the fact that I...

Re: headset /mic for a GL1800 wing
Ken, You can go wireless with Bluetooth headsets as John suggests or you can go wired and save some $$$. Today, there are 2 basic choices for wired headsets, J&M or IMC. J&M are the more expensive of the two. IMC gives a lot of "bang for the buck", so you might look at them. They a...

Re: Motorcycle Lifts
Looks like a pretty nice lift but I would prefer one that has a wider stance. Your lifting nearly a #1000 bike when lifting a Wing and you want maximum lateral stability. My Handy Lift is over 20 years old and the only thing I have ever done to it is grease it, and install new seals about 2 years ag...

Tire Watch TPMS - reads existing sensors
This Tire Watch TPMS was a pre production model that Fred Harmon helped develop and later reviewed. Read the link below for all the details. Was working when removed a few days ago. I am going trike and need a different system. See photos and article here https://www.gl1800riders.com/threads/tire-pr...

Re: Best GL1800 Maintenance DVD
Win 10 does not include any type of DVD player... Media player is included in the software but no DVD player is present in Media Player in Win 10, so your going to need to install some form of DVD player in your computer... I use VLC like the other poster and it works quite well with Fred's videos.....

Front end wobble can be caused by any number of things but when I noticed it on my previous 1500 it was sue to insufficient steering head bearing torque... Simply re-torquing steering head bearings resolved the issue...

Re: Gl 1500 reversing problem
I would have thought the diagnostics would have revealed something... I read about a fellow having problems with his reverse and it was traced to a bad connection of a plug under the truck box... Have you checked all your connections to make sure they are sound... It's been a while since I had my 15...

Re: Gl 1500 reversing problem
Have you replaced the starter recently??? How fast the does the starter motor pulse??? Almost sounds like a broken starter gear if your not feeling any movement at all which is why I asked if you replaced the starter motor as it is easy to break the gear when installing a new starter... Do you have ...

Re: Steering head bearings
All Balls bearings IMO are superior to the OEM ball bearings as they are tapered roller bearings, and as such, can absorb much more punishment that standard ball bearings... When I installed mine I preloaded them to about 24 ft pounds and they are working well... Still, it's been a while now and pro...

Re: Headlight Modulator
While they may irritate some cagers, I cannot tell you how many people I have seen getting ready to pull out in front of me, and then jam on the brakes when they see the modulator... ! I wonder sometimes if the modulators are giving someone the impression that you are flashing your lights at them t...

Re: 1800 LED Headlights; SoCal vs. EC
I'm running the EC LED's and have been very happy with their performance... I installed them on low beams only, as I use a modulator on my high beams and didn't want to have to replace that as well, otherwise I would have switched high beams too... They REALLY light up the road in front of you - muc...

Re: Oscilloscope for Troubleshooting
I still have my old Hitachi analog dual trace scope... Haven't used it in some time but I do drag it out occasionally for audio issues... I used a scope all my life in my electronic jobs - usually Tektronics but my little Hitachi serves me well... Don't remember the bandwidth specs but I wanna guess...

Re: Trike conversion rear tire
I have an 84 Aspencade with a trike conversion, yes training wheels. Had it about three months. I am in need on a new rear drive tire. Does it have to be a motorcycle tire? As it is not leaning anymore would a car tire work? Doesn't have to be a trike to utilize a car tire... "Darkside" u...
