Re: Uneven Idle

I have a 2010 airbag GW which did this idle fluctuation from new when purchased in 2011. I reset the ECM as described above and it did improve but now and again it still does it but more so in the summer when the air temp is higher or when stuck in traffic.

Re: 1800 alarm not working

My 2010 Wing has the same problem. I was told to look at the harness as it bends near the trunk lid but haven't got around to it yet. It seems that this is a common problem due to the design of the harness continually bending when opening and closing the lid. I wonder if the design is the same in th...

The lights displayed on my bike are from the left where you have indicated TPMS on your bike on my Wing are: - Immobiliser System (HISS) indicator - Airbag Indicator Looks like we didn't get TPMS in Oz unless mine is the odd one out in the Australian distribution. Thanks to all for contributing to t...

Re: 2010 GoldWing ?? TPMS

I remember when I took the Wing in for the very first set of tyres after the originals they said they had changed the valves as historically they tend to fail at times. It was not a Honda shop but they said they were familiar with TPMS on Gold Wings. I cannot see a TPMS light on my dash and all the ...

2010 GoldWing ?? TPMS

I recently took my wheels into the tyre shop for some new Bridgestones 61,000km (3rd set) and asked them to be careful of the TPMS. When I went back to get the fitted tyres they said there was no TPMS there. ???? This same shop replaced my original Bridgestone tyres last time at 30,000km and I then ...

Re: Airbag recall finally reaches Canada

yes, the gears at Honda turn very slow. I was notified of a recall here in Australia on 30th June 2016 and the letter stated I would be notified when the parts were available. I rang our two Gold Wing dealers and they knew nothing about it. After many phone calls over many months I finally had it do...

Re: Whirr when leaning

I have a 2010 Wing running my second set of Bridgestone's. The first set which came with the bike when it was new did develop cupping only on the front from about 18,000 km. I increased the pressures from 36 on the front to 41 and left the rear at 41psi. The cupping did improve a little but was stil...

Re: engine hunting GL1800

I made the mistake of filling up with E10 fuel one day and found the engine would not idle when I arrived home. The bike definitely had more power. When I did some research on the E10 alcohol fuels I found that there were a few negatives in the use of these fuels so I decided to let the engine cool ...

Re: engine hunting GL1800

Hi collinsa, Have you tried recalibrating the ECM. You do this by starting the engine cold without touching the throttle at all (turn on the ignition and hit the starter button) and let it idle (assuming yours will idle by itself) until the fans kick in. With the current cold weather we are experien...

Indicators not flashing when remote security is activated

Hoping someone can tell me where to look for this electrical problem. When I use my remote control to activate the Honda HISS to lock or unlock my 2010 GL1800 trunk etc. I have noticed recently that the indicators don't flash. I can hear the click as the locks release and I am able to access the tru...

Re: GL1800 Bridgestone tire mileage

I have a 2010 Goldwing purchased new which came with Bridgestone tyres as standard. I managed to get 30,000 km out of these. I have Bridgestones on again and have done 21,000 km so far and will probably get another 10,000 km and have just towed a trailer across Australia for 10,000 of those 21,000 k...

I posted this topic in July 2015 and now its happening. Hi Harvey, I'm in Perth Western Australia and have spoken to the service department of both Goldwing dealers here and they say there has not been any notifications of airbag recalls here. Takata Airbag recall for Cars ?? Goldwing

I'm sure many of you are aware of the airbag recall for Honda cars as well as various other car makers numbering in the millions due to a fault in the Takata airbags fitted to these vehicles. Apparently shrapnel-shooting inflator parts from Japanese supplier Takata have caused the death of at least ...

Has anybody had any experience with this particular model of camper trailer which is made in France. I have had a look at one in the store and it did impress me, especially its light weight (115kg) and practical functionality. http://www.tourlitetrailers.com.au/trailers/motorcycle-trailers/motorcycl...

Re: Leaning vs Countersteering: No BS

Hi wallybee43,
If you are countersteering and you still find you are running wide in the corner due to excessive speed, gently apply the rear brake and you will find that it will pull you into the corner. This has saved my skin several times when I have gone in too fast.

Re: Leaning vs Countersteering: No BS

Hi Wingers, Here is a video which I purchased as a DVD a couple of years ago about the science of riding a motorcycle. It has been uploaded by someone else on YouTube and runs for 1hr 34mins so make sure you have enough data allowance on your account. At 720P it is 1.52GB but is considerably smaller...

Canadian and Australian 2nd GL1800 brake recall

I found this article on the web which relates to a brake recall in August 2014. I thought this had already been dealt with in 2011. I had mine checked in the initial recall and then it failed 1000km later. What do you know about this. Have they found some other problem? http://healthycanadians.gc.ca...
