Re: I'm feeling dark... new Austone Taxi Tire

I have an GL1800 with ABS and Honda only recommends several brands of tires because of how the ABS works. Has any one put a CT on a 1800 with ABS and the ABS still work like it was designed. I've been thinking of going with the CT option ever since I rode my friends 1800. It was different but I didn...

Re: I Cut The CORD!!!!! Best $35 spent! BT-S2 1000m Bluetooth Headset Review

I watched a video that showed in pairing with an older Sena but I tried it with my buddies Sena's 30K but it didn't take the first time so didn't try again. The 30K is perhaps a little advanced with mesh technology and only one open BT channel.

Re: I Cut The CORD!!!!! Best $35 spent! BT-S2 1000m Bluetooth Headset Review

I purchased the BT-S2 1000 without thinking about the helmet that it would go into and found that I just couldn’t make it work. So if someone here would like to have it I will sell it for $20 or make an offer.

Re: GPS to Intercom on GL1500

Why not use a small sound powered mic attached to the Nuvi and plug that into the GPS audio input device.

Re: Poorboy alternator conversion on my GL1200A

Beerlover, I think you are good to go, and replacing the battery might fix the problem if it continues to discharge after a few days of sitting. David the guy that sells the poor boy kit on ebay, he and I have become good friends. The guy that started the poor boy conversion died last year so you do...

Re: Poorboy alternator conversion on my GL1200A

Need more information, tell me how much AC voltage does your meter show. Some cheaper meters don't always tell the truth about the type of voltage it sees. Does it show close to 14 volts DC when the bike is running? So now switch to AC and see what that reads. I would say if you are reading DC volts...

Re: Poorboy alternator conversion on my GL1200A

the alternator has it's own regulator so no need for the old one, if you are getting AC current at the battery perhaps your alternator has a bad diode which is used to convert AC to half wave DC

Re: Shifter seal

The pivot brace was the reason for the project from the start but discovered the need for the seal which lead to a lot of time spent without getting the seal replaced. The brace was easy to install after getting all the covers and such removed and works great. So now that I know several ways in whic...

Shifter seal

I am working on a friend’s 1500 trying to replace the shifter seal on the engine, I have everything loose and access to the pinch bolt holding the shifter lever in place. When trying to put the shift lever off the splined shaft the lever hit the frame of the bike before it clears the end of the shaf...

Re: Dead and Back Again

I've made the recommended check and found that the battery terminals were indeed loose. I've only owned the bike a couple of weeks but was told that the battery was fairly new. Thanks for all the comments by following them I was able to fix the problem without a lot of trial and error. The members h...

Dead and Back Again

I had an incident with my 2001 Goldwing that has me puzzled. There wasn’t any problems prior to this so I will just explain what happen and perhaps someone has experienced the same problem. I left the bike set for perhaps an hour and when I returned I switched the key on everything seemed normal unt...

Tires For My 1984 Goldwing A

It is time for a new set of tires but I've searched high and low looking for a matched set of tires that will fit but have come up with nothing. I have Metzeler on it now and very dissatisfied. I could sure use some advice on what tires are appropriate for my old wing.

Re: Which model? (*IF* you were to replace your Wing)

yes it is smaller is some ways, weight only 489. I rarely have a rider but the biggest minus is storage space that would be required for longer trips. I wouldn't get rid of my old wing so i would have it to make such trips, wouldn't gain much by selling it anyway, this would be just for fun and doin...

Re: Which model? (*IF* you were to replace your Wing)

Yesterday I went to a Ducati event held in Kansas City to test ride a XDIAVEL S and what an experience it was. The first time I rode the bike it was a matter of getting use to how it handled and performed. The next ride I felt like I was part of the machine. It is an awesome bike more in the cruiser...

I've got an 84 GL 1200 and if I had to switch I would go for a used BMW R1200 RT as it is something I can afford. Got my eye on one with 63K for $5500

Re: Poorboy alternator conversion on my GL1200A

I did the poor boy alternator conversion this weekend but made all the parts myself. In the process of completing the task there was quite a bit of grinding to do where the support bracket for the horn was removed. I will make a suggestion that you should remove your battery before doing the grindin...

Stopper Washer & Spring On Driveshaft GL1200

Drive shaft on the GL1200 has a spring and stopper washer at the end that goes into the u-joint. My Clymer manual says to leave off the stopper washer when reinstalling. To me that makes sense as the spring is unable to function as a spring with the washer in place. While another manual seems to say...

Front Fort Spring Length

I have ran across another question that I need some advice on. My manual suggest that I measure the spring length for the two springs in each fork and if they are less than specs that I should replace them. How critical is that and what problems could I encounter should I go ahead and use them thoug...

Re: Grinding Noise Coming From Front Wheel Area

update, torn into the forks this weekend and figured out what parts are needed. The forks were supposedly rebuilt 4K miles ago and the right fork again just 3 weeks ago. Question, the oil I drained out today looked like the oil that came out of my diesel truck after about 6 or 7K miles. Could the oi...

Re: Grinding Noise Coming From Front Wheel Area

Today we went on a ride that entailed a lot of curves and I had to increase the air pressure in the front forks and with just three bars on the gauge it cause most of the oil to leak out. It never did hold air with out causing an oil leak ever since the jerk redone the forks. I've been just running ...

Re: Grinding Noise Coming From Front Wheel Area

To call the guy a mechanic would be to give him some credit that he knew what he was doing. When I replaced the front wheel bearing I discovered that he had installed the fork axle caps on backwards and today I noticed that the fork brace was also installed backwards. The axle nut was at lease 50 po...
