Re: GL1200 alternator convertion

Something I am working on this winter is a spacer for the lower radiator hose. When I did my conversion I stacked 3 pieces of 1/4" aluminum together so the stock radiator hose and radiator does not need any modification ( you are adding spacers to the radiator for clearance in front of the pulley wh...

Putting the finishing touches on my 84 engine, while this motor is out and accessible where is this screen you speak of? Is there a cover on the outside or is it internal?

Re: How to unlock a GL1500 trunk without keys

My turn at this wasnt about losing keys it was about disassembling the rear trunk and not reading and understanding ALL the instructions like making sure the bits and pieces are where they need to be when your finished.

Guilty as charged, did the dummy thing yesterday. Not paying attention Duh

Now I have this (and a 3 1/2" hole in the bottom of my trunk ) which coincidentally is right above my license plate bulb ( silver lining on a cloudy day).

Re: How to replace your cruise and sub air filters

It pays to have a large workbench handy. 20150703_141612.jpg And having a laptop close by with this thread on it helps. Spent the day on the bike, once you get all that plastic off its time to take a look around and check things out. Found that the plastic at both mirrors has stress cracks along the...

yes they are, I just beached mine about two weeks ago on a slight hill no less. My right arm should be back to its normal length soon.

I always thought every one has at least two spills
1 from inexperience
1 from over confidence (aka arrogance)

I've been down 5 times I don't have any excuses left.

I just recently did a run from Cleveland down to Boone NC,as I did several fill ups I tried different octanes at different fill ups. Never noticed any difference in performance and maybe 3 mpg from the top grade down to 87.

Thanks, when I get in to it I'll give you a heads up. The weep hole is what caught my attention originally, there was rust stains at the bottom and as soon as I spun it I knew it was on its way out.

My she sure looks pretty all cleaned up, I have been in love with this bike since the day they came out. Somewhere in an odd box I bet I still have the original flyer they put out back in 1984.

The clip I got off and pushed the shaft thru then hey looky there a ball bearing fell out, so is the bore smooth inside and things can be pressed out in either direction?

Thanks for the info

Oh I intend to get them all. I printed out all the various sheets with their parts list and sat down at the motor and started checking things off. Kinda looks like my water pump was due to fail soon so saved that disaster from happening. While the clutch friction plates check out at the top of the s...

I have my pump out for other reasons but I took a good look at it today and can tell its only a matter of time before it goes (feels pretty mucky inside). But as looked at it it looks like I'll destroy that tin cover what's your method?

Re: clunk noise when letting off throttle while moving

Interesting, have a clunk also but mine is at take off. So maybe she needs a look at with the possibility the shaft is popping into place at take off. And seeing as I am in "might as well" mode (pic attached) I will be looking into that.
