I use an Airhawk pad also. Works great and is WAY cheaper than buying a custom seat. YRMV.

I believe you can put the DB501s in both front and back in 2001-2005 bikes

I changed as well; used to have a Tulsa Tall, now I look over a more normal windshield. Same issues with rain.

Actually, the redesign starting with 2006 requires dB651's in the front....dB501's still fit the rearoilboy1162 wrote: ↑Tue May 09, 2017 8:03 pm 2012 and newer use the db651s for the fronts. both front and rear need minor trimming but the sound improvement is well worth it.

That's what I used on my '83, but the REAL cruise control (on my '03) works SO much better!Wingryder1 wrote:I find the weight of my hand on my 10.00 plastic throttle aid works every bit as well as the cruise.Just me

On all the time and I use it whenever I get the chance...
We just finished a 2,600 mile ride from KY to ME and back; I'd be upa crick without the cruise! Set it for 8 over and I'm good....

Re: for a better sounding stereo
I added four Polk Audio dB501's - a big difference! This seems to be a fairly popular speaker to use; on my '03, I had no problems putting them in, both front and rear.
Good speakers make a big difference.

That's almost like asking which oil is best. Depends on if you like to look over it or thru it, if you want some air to hit you or none air, vented shield or non vented. What he said! I have a Tulsa Tall (Vented) and I really like it. IT keeps the wind off and it doesn't not bother me to look thru ...

does it matter if you a a tpms? Dunno - mine is an '03 GL1800 without TPMS, but , as long as the beads can pass thru, it shouldn't be a problem. BTW, in regards to slooooow filling, just fill up the tube and give it a small shot of air - works super quick! I think there is a video of this procedure...

Mike-
I agree! That's what I got them used, from GL1800riders.com; I only gave $75 for them. I wired them up with a relay and a separate switch - anything to keep the cagers from saying "...but officer, I didn't see him..."

I am one of the many who have the Michelin Alpin Run Flat on the back - a safety measure for me...I've not noticed any adverse effects of the stiffer sidewall. I, also, run a BT-45 on the front.
