Re: Rear Shock air question

Thanks all. Buying one of ebay isn't an option at the moment with the AUS/US dollar. While the compressor itself isn't that expensive, the postage is twice as much as the unit, bringing it up to about $160 for a **** second hand one. I did get the old connecting rod welded, but that only lasted a fe...

Rear Shock air question

Hi all, A while back, the compressor on my GL1500A (93) broke. The little piston and connecting rod just shattered. I have put the compressor back together without it at this point in time. I recall reading somewhere the best way to inflate the shocks without the compressor. Can someone point me int...

GL1500A LCD replacement

I have read through a thousand posts on LCD replacements after the creeping black death appears. The Tanin ones are well out of my price range, by the time they hit the shores in Australia it is way too much. Has any one tried these Ebay ones: attachment=0]Screen Shot 2019-07-15 at 6.48.13 am.png[/a...

93 1500 stalling

Hi all, Went to go for a nice ride today. Bike hasn’t had a good run for a few weeks. Last run was 8000klm a month ago. Did not have one issue for the whole time on that ride. This morning the old girl was travelling along fine, but 30klm in the revs started to drop of and you could feel her struggl...

NEW BATTERY - WHAT NEXT

My old battery eventually packed it in without notice on Saturday. Luckily I was only a few hundred metres up a small rise from home, so the push wasn't too bad. It was a mere 11 years old, and had been powering 'Norma', my '93 GL1500A for all of that time. It was a bright orange 'Odysee', so I mana...

I always start with the front left calliper. Pump the brake, hold it and release the nipple, then do it again and again. Then move onto the rear.

Been away for a while...waterpump & brakes

Hi all, At the start of the year I moved 700k away from my bike and have only been back once. I started it that one time (3 months ago) and noticed coolant leaking from the water pump. Now I replaced he water pump 2 years ago. I have been told that because it has been sitting for so long it will lea...

Brakes......

Due to a recent move my poor old GW has sat idle. I recently got a new front tire and when I went to put it back on the right side calliper was loose and vibrating. When I looked there was a plastic sleeve in the eye of the small connector on the forks. It was only small but stopped the caliph bolt ...

Side Car, leading link, callipers question

I have fitted a sidecar(premier) and leading link to the old girl (GL1500A). It came with the bike when I bought it two years ago. I know it was designed and built of that bike. The only drama I ma having is the front brakes. Unless I am missing something, the standard callipers on the Goldwing don'...

Re: wobble at the front

wobble at the front

I've looked at other topics re front end wobble, some go away on cornering, others don't. Mine is at slow speeds and on corners. Just recently seems to be getting a slight wobble at higher speeds then goes away. Mine is a 93 GL1500. I have no idea when the wheel or steering bearings were last done.

I was wondering if a remote control car or plane piston and arm would fit. Might have to look into that.

Broken Compresor

If any knows of where I can get a good second hand compressor in Australia let me know. The small piston broke in mine. I am currently bypassing the compressor and topping up the shocks from the outlet. Its a bot messy having to push two buttons as well as monitor the gauge and hold the portable com...

Re: They said I wouldn't make it

I wouldn't change a thing. I got uncomfortable a few times, hit, cold, wet, dry, tired, drunk, drunk again and tired again as well as cold and hot, but thats what riding is all about. Just did another run on the weekend, about 700k after a quick oil and filter change. Love Norma. I think she will be...

Re: They said I wouldn't make it

I don't think I will ever doubt Norma's capability again, she will be around long after the Harleys, Boulies and the like are distant memories. One thing is for sure, I am investing in another good quality tent. Mine I had for at least 10 years and when the rains came at Colingullie (NSW), the seams...

They said I wouldn't make it

Well I did. I recently took 'Norma' my 1993 GL1500 on a 6800klm(4225mi) ride. I was amongst new Guzzi's, Harley's, M109's and the like (9 of us all up). Everyone said Norma wouldn't make the trip due to her age. We rode from Central Queensland through New South Wales, into Victoria and onto South Au...

Gear Lever Movement

Afternoon all, I have been prepping for a ride for two weeks (93 GL1500A), roughly 6,000k, and I just noticed there seems to be a lot of up and down and sideways play on the gear lever. Now, I haven't removed anything yet if I don't have to. Is it normal.Only a few mm, nothing to drastic, just looks...

Blue tooth cassette

I have recently seen on e-bay a cassette that runs on a 6hr mini battery that you just put into the cassette player and it acts like a bluetooth receiver.

Has anyone ever tried them. They are around $70 AU, so I don't want to throw away the cash if I don't have to.

Re: what can you do when compressor packs it in

Thanks everyone. After a bit of looking ebay has a few compressors for $109US which is roughly $200 AUS including postage (couldn't find anything in Australia). Small RC connector arms are around $50 which according to the bloke at the RC shop should be transferable from a small remote control car e...

what can you do when compressor packs it in

Well, after a bit of trouble shooting ( I was having trouble with the compressor) I took the compressor out and disassembled it only to find the little pistons connecting rod was in pieces. See photo. My question is, what is the best way to get around this problem as my shocks have no air in them, a...

Re: compressor issues

Thanks Bstig60. I started to take her apart this arvy. Stripped her arse end, and guess I will now keep going and give her a good once over. compressor issues

I am just looking for some advice here. I went to put some air into my rear shocks today. The compressor sounded like it was working but according to the LCD it wasn't putting any air in. I disconnected the hoses at the main hose, where it attaches tot he smaller lines and goes to the shocks. There ...

Re: Compressor fun

i think you will find most of the smaller silicate packets are too small/fine, and even though you have filters, they may work themselves past the filters and into the ram areas. Maybe there are some bigger ones out there, but of those little bags I have seen have been really small.
