Re: 1500 radio

There is this Mod that gives you an "Aux in" a) don't know if it is better than a FM modulator, b) need to find a radio shop ( like the ones that work on Emergency Vehicle units) that can do the mod...I used the add'l "cassette" mod (at the bottom of the article) instead of addin...

Re: Passenger volume control

a) mounting on the plastic below the cubby works well as far as accessibility to the controls...problem is the silk screened nomenclature on the side of the control is now "hidden" as it is the side that get's velcroed to the plastic/cubby....it's only (3) controls and each control is a di...

Re: Passenger volume control

I have the J&M that mounts on the grip...if you mount it the way they intended on a 2012...the grip is useless to the passenger...wifey likes to hang on when we blitz the local canyons....some thoughts: 1) the unit from J&M works for both the 1500 as well as the 1800 ( so they claim)...the c...

Re: GL1500 Carb Coolant hose size?

boy Mississippi, you're really testing my memory banks....all things are metric on the GL1500 ( although they were built in Ohio)...the ID (Inside Diameter) of the hose needs to be checked at the Autozone ( 8mm is close to 5/16", 6mm is close to 1/4"...many hose manufactures have switched ...

Re: Modular Helmet and Comm System

Helmet' a good choice ...very good value...vents well, big eye port, easy to add glasses or sun glasses ...have about 1000 miles on mine...if you have a vented windscreen- you may be able to "aim" the air flow at the top vents ...works good out here in the hot SouthWest. Blue tooth...need t...

Re: California Carb question

if it rains a lot where you live...(California is drying up fast)...Once you get the carbs off...it's the only way to get at the ignition coils and ignition wires...recommend changing the wires if you can...On my '93 coming back from the midwest (the last few days of a 6000 mile ride) we got caught ...

if you're going that far.... 1) rebuild the fuel petcock...rebuild kits at Cyclemax in Ohio 2) check fuel pump output...maybe install a new "aftermarket" automotive type; Google: fuel pump replacement GL1500 3) check all fuel hoses, I would recommend replacing all fuel line clamps 4) The c...

Re: California Carb question

to play it "safe" ....I would question the seller as to it's "internal" condition...the pilot jet passages are tiny and left over fuel could clogged them up...a dried out set of carbs could also have cracked "o-rings" or brittle diaphrams...after you see how much work i...

I understand you DO NOT have the original key fob...the FCC number on the back is what the instructions ask you to check before programing: " To make sure you have the correct one compare the FCC ID:E4EG8DJ on the back. If the FCC ID matches you have the correct x-mitter ;-) " 1) ASSUMING ...

don't know if they allow cross forum posting...but the link below explains on how to modify the VSS ( Vehicle Speed Sensor) on a 2012 model...basically it fools the GPS into thinking the bike is not moving and allows GPS input ( a toggle switch is placed in the circuit to turn off the VSS signal)......

you could try: a) washing out the lens area (gotta take the truck off ) or come up with a way to wash and dry the lens area ( rag on a stick and a hair drier?) b) super bright LED bulbs ( gotta watch the clearance between the "bulb" and the lens)...some are too long/tall to fit: http://www...
