Crash

Last weekend a friend, Marine, and fellow Goldwing rider/owner Randy Lahr was hit by an inattentive 18 year old female cager. As a result he is currently in a medical induced comma with extensive broken bones, and shattered jaw. As well suffering a lacerated Liver, and removal of one kidney, spleen,...

Re: Please tell who or what made you buy a Goldwing

My dad was riding bikes in the 1940's and put it away when kids came along in the 50's, but kept his leathers i'm guessing to someday get back to it. Through pictures of him and my mom on an Indian in 1948 with bus driver caps for helmets like James Dean, and trying to fit into his leather jacket th...

Not bad in Atlanta if you don't mind a little rain 65 and quite cloudy, but I'll take it.

Re: To heavy for me Goldwing

What about a trike option? My dad getting on in years has been riding since the mid 1940's and had to do something as well. Got the trike a few years back and has really taken to it. Good luck with your decision.

Re: Please tell who or what made you buy a Goldwing

First started riding in the mid 80's on a Honda Magna 700 while stationed at Schofield Barracks Hi for four years. I was hooked, but kids and a sense of responsibility put it on hold until 2012 when I met Emma. After I threw my leg over her it was just meant to be. Also my dad had been riding since ...

Re: What do you want for Christmas?

I handed over a list to my wife and included a few motorcycle-themed ideas, a couple that I thought I might share. First is the Helinox Chair One . This is a tiny 2-lb chair that folds up to almost nothing to store in your saddlebag, but is strong enough to hold a 320lb occupant. Second was a set o...

Re: E-3 tires

Thanks for the input, mounting them soon and I'll increase the front to to 41 to start. Just one more thing I have to add, never came across a tire that was cupped and would love to see a picture if someone can provide one so I know what to look for. Thanks.

Re: E-3 tires

I'm curious, just bought a set of E-3's to replace factory stones. ct1500 mentioned the MT designation on them and is suppose to have fixed any problems. I'll look for it on my tires prior to mounting them. I do have a question if someone can help. Just rolled over 9,500 miles with the original tire...

Re: Riding next to tractor trailers

Way too many trucks to avoid in the Atlanta area. Every day it's something and it's not only the big rigs, but smaller delivery vehicles blow out just as much leaving a mess everywhere to navigate around. I will say this though, and this happened to me being anywhere near one of these vehicles when ...

It plain sucks to know someone lost in this way. I know, and it takes time to heal. I'm sorry for you loss and take a lot away with me when this happens, but always know in my mind that it may happen to me some day. A neighbor of mine put up his wing the day after loosing his friend in the same way,...

Thanks for sharing, allot of folks wouldn't. It don't take much to as you get older to break something that takes forever to repair. Really glad to hear your not too worse for wear and you've taught me something. Thanks.

A course here in Ontario will run you around $300 all out of your own pocket.Only takes a couple of mistakes when you start the riding part and they are sending you home. You don't get to finish the day even. They just tell you to rebook(for the same price) and try again.Been more than a few woman le...

Back to your original post, Ga state parks are awesome and most are located in the northern part of the state were there's great riding, trails for hiking and folks are friendly.Being retired military with a disability I get a discount of 10% on the park pass and site fee's.

Re: Auto train trip; DC to Orlando

Yep, my dad and significant other took that same trip last fall. Rode trike from Ma to VA and the train to Fl, got a good deal on the tickets. Said didn't get the sleep car and was happy to get off when all said and done, but being in his mid eighties the ride to Fl would have been too much for them...

Helmet systems

I want to get a communications system for my new helmet that hasn't yet been purchased. I have a Nolan N2 now and thinking of the N4. I only ride one up, but want to listen to the bike radio without having to blast it like I'm currently doing. Does anyone know if this is something I can do with the ...

Just purchased the special edition quantum windshield from Cycle Giant. Still waiting for delivery, but I've researched it to death and felt that was the answer for me. Just wish they offered it in smoke tint. I liked the video that showed a beefy guy trying to destroy it with a baseball bat to no a...

To some who commented on the quality of aluminum used for a part I can tell you it is very important. There are many, many types of aluminum alloys with many different characteristics and purposes. There are some that would probably crack in short order under the stress of a fork brace. Get the goo...

had the dealer Put them on mine on day 1 because I felt I was reaching forward way to much. The shim kit allows for differing heights and back adjustment. Mine is up 1" back 2" and it has made it a very enjoyable ride.
