Re: For you guys who change your own tires.

I have a No Mar changer and use the hitch mount. I don't have the room to mount it on the floor also. After you get it adjusted for the height of your vehicles, it works great. Yes, you do loose a little bit of space for the bar to move 360 degrees around the tire. But, most of the time when I get ...

Re: For you guys who change your own tires.

Thanks Mike B> SOme good info. Didn't think of temporarily placing it in the floor. What about the threads getting filled with dirt? I suppose the bolts can be inserted. I suppose that the issue would be how hard would it be to place it and remove it all the time.

For you guys who change your own tires.

Gents, Well, between my wife, kids and myself, our stable is up 7 bikes and two trikes. After much thought, I was thinking maybe its time to do my own tire changing. Number of reasons, primarily for cost benefits. Looking at some videos, seems the 1800 tires are a bit of a chore, but doable. I have ...

Re: Ignition issue?

Well. It’s’ true. The infamous line under the Mat. Right after the Bend. I am rather confident this was my issue. A hole in the vacuum line underneath the mat. Lucky me!

California vs 49 State Carbs

Fellow Goldwingers, As I research the carburetor removal, vacuum lines, probably induction systems, I wonder if anybody has modified a California to a 49 state carb. I bought my bike brand new in Indiana, so heaven knows why it was an emission bike. There are some extra stuff on these and was wonder...

Sometimes start!

Greetings Fellow Goldwingers. I posted before, but I get better info all the time. My bike starts 90 percent but 10% it doesn’t. During the 10% it does get spark albeit on the one cylinder that is easy to get to without taking the Tupperware off. During cranking I do not smell any gas. I Go away dep...

Re: Hard Starting Cold

Furthering my hard starting issue, I have discovered the cause. Typically, I use the 1500 for work related commuting. Almost all interstate even though I don't like taking the slab, but time is the issue. I usually go about 80 -85 mph ( shhhh.. I didn't say that). That could be about 70% of the time...

Re: Vetter Trunk

Thanks for the info. Does your trunk lights do both braking and running? The PO of the trunk apparently cut a conductor off the bulb. So I think I can have 4 running light and brake on the outside? Or 4 brake lights and two running lights on the outside. Cheers

Vetter Trunk

Gents, According to the installation instruction for the wiring of the Vetter trunk, it says the lights are running lights. Has anybody put dual filament bulbs to make them brake and running? My bike is a 77 so it has the reserve lighting system. Would that affect operation? Cheers

Re: Vetter Top box and saddle bags

Greetings , yes the turn signals are to be relocated. Hard to see in the picture, but seems the yellow turn signals have a different extension than stock. Hoping the stick signals would work. Cheers

Vetter Top box and saddle bags

Greetings Folks, WHile trying to figure out the saddlebags, the instructions say to remove the turn signals on my 77 GL1000. And to replace with the "stalk" which allegedly is Vetter part and I don't have. Can't the turn signals assembly simply be transplanted to the new location on the vetter struc...

Re: Windjammer bracket Modification

Here are some pix. You will notice the vetter bracket with the hose clamp temporarily in its final position. Next pix is the Hondaline crashbar pivoted over the bracket. About an inch overlap. No room on crash bar for adjustment. I probably will ha e to trim a bit off the bottom.

Windjammer bracket Modification

Greetings Group,

I have a GL1000 bracket. However, the crash bars (Hondaline) are impacting the placement. I think I can grind off about an inch off of the bottom of the bracket to make it fit. Has anyubody else done this before? Cheers

Wow! Exactly my symptoms on my 93 Aspencade. This morning it happened again and couldn't ride the beast. What a pisser. Anyhow, here is a question. I did do one thing that I didn't do before. After cranking, cranking, cranking,,,,, I put my nose on the exhaust and didn't smell any fuel. Certainly I ...

Re: Help for a new owner - Please!

I had the same issue on a 77 GL1000. Rusty tank and I knew it was gonna be a problem. I used a chemical called "Rust Out". ( If I recall correctly). It works like a charm. Filled up the tank and let it sit and then siphoned it out. Amazing stuff. Not cheap. 6 gallons would cost you maybe 120 buckero...

Re: Multi meter help please

No I haven't quite figured I tout yet. Looking at the picture of the manual and shown above, it shows a pigtail. Don't know exactly why this has to be this way and why can't one simply got the separated connectors to read resistance. Need to pull out the wire as shown? On another note, maybe I was r...
