Re: Heat reflective cover?

The Aerostitch Ultralight is constructed from a gloriously lightweight 30-denier rip-stop nylon. Comes in white, black or grey. Packs down easily into a handy built-in storage pouch. Silicone-urethane coated on top, which coupled with the parachute-strength fabric, makes it resistant to most weather...

Re: Rain Gear Suggestions

Sorry, I can't seem to figure out how to keep writing after the bottom of the page with this iPad. Gloves for the rain can be a very subjective item. I always pack some lightweight medical gloves for underneath my gloves, just in case, and use a glove with a rubber squeegee on the thumb. Remember to...

Re: Rain Gear Suggestions

Aerostich ultra light rain pants combined with TourMaster deluxe rain boot covers have never let me down. I've hade mine for around 8 years, and although they are designed to pack small they are incredibly durable. http://www.aerostich.com/aerostich-ultralight-rain-pants-6.html http://www.amazon.com...

Bike cover

Hi Folks, After seeing the UltraGuard 1/2 cover prize for this month I felt compelled to let riders know about the Aerostich Ultra light bike cover. I have been using their large cover for over 10 years to cover everything from motorcycles to lawn equipment to snowmobiles, etc. It is extremely durab...

Display delay

Hi all, I ride a 2012 nav model and dont like the fact that when I operate any of the controls such as the volume control, the indicator stays displayed on the GPS for an extended period of time, blocking my view of the GPS. Often times I'll lower the volume when coming up to a complicated change of...

Re: Retrofit 2012 ABS to Airbag model

I'm agreeing with you on that last thought. This whole idea came about as a "wonder if you could retrofit your ABS into an airbag" question. Brought it into the forum cause I figured I wasn't the only one curiuos about it. Don't know if it would be possible for many reasons or what it might cost. I'...

Re: Retrofit 2012 ABS to Airbag model

Hi Jeff, I've bought parts machines before but in a situation like this I don't know if I would feel comfortable with that idea. It seems to me that a compleat bike that's affordable would have had to be severely damaged in some ways in order to BE affordable. I would probably wind up with a lot of ...

Doubt if it would be easier or cheaper to recustomize a new bike to the way I have it now. Plus I would lose too much on the trade in.
Really not an option for me, I'd just go without the airbag

Re: Retrofit 2012 ABS to Airbag model

All The Gear All The Time! ATGATT! Having had a bad get off and some extremely painful road rash years ago, and a buddy who spent several weeks in a burn unit for the same reason, I never ride without gearing up. Guess it's time to ask the Honda Dealer. Thought someone out there might have beat me t...

Re: Retrofit 2012 ABS to Airbag model

I agree with you Vin, Just got interested in the possibility after a friend recently got an 08 airbag model for his wife. They were telling my GF about all the stats they had researched involving airbag GWs and how well the riders faired. One guy doing about 40 T- boned a cage wearing no helmet and ...

Re: Retrofit 2012 ABS to Airbag model

Thanks Viking, but I think you are referring to earlier model GW's. Mine is a 2012 and I'm pretty sure all the controls you are referring to are in the right places. My button panel is on the left, suspension controls are on the right (no right hand glove box) and directly in front of the gas fill i...

Retrofit 2012 ABS to Airbag model

Does anyone know if it is possible to add an airbag system to my 2012 GW1800 ABS model? Looks like sensors could be added to the front fork and an ECU, inflator and airbag could be added to the front glove box. I don't know if it would practical or what it would cost, just wondering if it could be d...

Re: Using power port to charge battery

Thanks for the reply. I'll keep your good suggestion in the memory banks in the event that I need more electrical connectivity in the future. For now I'm going to keep things simple. Minimalist is a hard concept to apply to ANY GoldWing, but for now as long as I can charge my old cell phone and iPod...

Re: Using power port to charge battery

Yea, that's what I meant I plan to do. I know some people swear by it, but I haven't had good luck leaving my powersports batteries hooked up to a battery tender24/7 in the past. I'd rather hook them up every 2 months for a day, so when it's time to charge it up I'll attach an SAE plug to the batter...

EC single shooter LED driving lights

Design Problem? I had these lights installed on my 2012 GW. Love the look and brightness. However I noticed minor spider cracks around all top 4 mounting screws in my lower cowling. I returned to show my dealer assuming that they had been over tightened or pilot hole drilled too small. He agreed tha...

Re: Using power port to charge battery

I bought my 2012 as a leftover last April so I haven't had to access the battery yet. I know it requires removing a body panel and haven't had a look at it yet to see what the best way is to wire a battery tender hook up directly to the battery. I live near Hunter mountain and took my last ride up t...

Thanks, I thought that the power port plug in was always hot. I checked after your reply and realized that it's not unless the key is on. Too bad, I was looking for an easy way to remotely charge the battery.

Using power port to charge battery

I installed a 12V power port into the intended location in the front left pocket of my 2012 GW 1800. Installation went well and the power port works perfectly. I tried to use a battery tenter power port adapter to charge the battery thru this port but it won't work. Is it possible to charge the batt...
