Re: Dyna Beads vs Counteract Balancing Beads

I am installing a new front tire on my 1100 today and I don't fill the beads through the stem. Tried that. Don't work. I put one side of tire on rim then pour in the beads. Then carefully mount the other side. Done this on several with no problems. My elite 3 just started to cup in the last1000 mile...

Hard starting when engine is warm

My 1983 Goldwing started getting hard to start when engine is hot. I had the carbs totally rebuilt 3 years ago by Pistol Pete. Last year I replaced the coils with ones from a 1500. I put new spark plugs in last year. I always shut the petcock off when I stop. It takes a lot of time before it fires. ...

Re: Removing thermoswitch and thermostat

Yes. And it is a new switch from Honda as well as the thermostat. I am rotating the plug around to see if that works. Honda didn't give enough room or wire for my big American hands. Don't want to loosen radiator again just for that. They need to mark those things. My GM vehicles only plug in one wa...

Re: Removing thermoswitch and thermostat

I have the bike back together but the fan is not coming on. There is a white dot on the thermoswitch and it is facing back toward the engine. I put the plug on and the black wire is on the top terminal. There is no color coding on the terminals. Do I need to reverse the plug?
Thanks

Removing thermoswitch and thermostat

How do you remove the thermoswitch from the housing and can I run a lower temperature thermostat than the 180. My 83 Aspencade tends to run on the hot side. I have the radiator, thermostat and water pump flange off of bike. The fan was not coming on when it is supposed to. It's only 35 years old . P...

83 Aspencade radiator fan not working

What fuse Is it on? If that isn't it I'll direct wire motor to see if it works. Then on to sensor. Was working fine last fall when I put it away. Started it today to check it. It is 72 degrees in Pa.

Loading Goldwing onto trailer

Well I finally done it. Over 40 years of motorcycles and sometimes needing to haul them I did something stupid and dropped my 83 Aspencade while driving it up the ramp gate on my flat bed trailer. I bought another vehicle and I rode my bike to pick it up. Left the bike while I drove home to get my t...

Re: Ignition coils

I got a set of 1500 coils off of eBay. A little smaller and a little shorter . Just mounted them on the rear bolt. Had to switch the screw caps on the wires. The 1500 ones are smaller. I now have a spare one. Bike pulls the hills and lugs in high gear better. So far so good. I think the original one...

Ignition coils

I am changing ignition coils my 83 Aspencade. Do I have to have ones specific to the 1100, or will ones for 1200 or 1500 work . I finally got mine removed. They didn't make it easy.

Re: Replacing coils on 83 goldwing

How do you get those coils out. I have done a lot of work on this bike in the last 6 years I have owned it mainly to save money, but the only good mechanic that worked on these bikes closed shop. I change my own tires. Removed and reinstalled the carbs after having them rebuilt. Put new thermostat a...

my bike is sputtering some while crusing, I have new plugs, wires and boots and a new fuel filter.
Is there a way to test the coils to see if they are OK
The bike runs fine while your giving it throttle.
I had the carbs professionally rebuilt 2 years ago down in Tennessee

Replacing coils on 83 goldwing

What has anyone done to replace the coils? I know they are no longer available. Mine are 34 years old and I want to be prepared in case.
I had heard of some being used off of a Civic.

My problem is my hands keep going numb while riding. When I wake up in the morning my right hand is usually numb and I can't freely move my fingers. I guess it is genetics and 40 years working construction.

I used OEM Honda for the seals. I did mine off the bike. Didn't have any trouble seating the seals, but getting proper circlip pliers and getting cap back on with tube back in the triple tree. I was riding my 83 Aspencade all the time, but last week I went to the ER and they admitted me with UTI that turned sepsis, life threading blood infection. Spent 4 days on IV and antibiotics . Now the medicine I'm on makes me dizzy. I'm 63 and 2 years ago I was riding my Goldwing and had a mini stro...

XM Satellite radio

Anybody else use XM on their bikes? I have had mine about 3 years and last night it started going off and on. When I tapped on it it would come back on and then off again. I think it must of jarred something loose. I guess they are not made good enough to take the jarring on a motorcycle. I will pro...
