Re: Progressive Rear Shocks

Well, I just wanted to say Thank You for all the advise and tips on the wing. Solved the issues and its running great, but its no longer mine. If I get booted (no drama meant by this) cause I bought a 04 Harley Road King today I'll understand. I have learned sooo much about the GL1200's from ya'll a...

Re: When it rains it pours

Well, looks like I might have figured it out, I figured I either have to loose weight quick or adjust to a tighter setting on the new progressive shocks, decided adjusting the shocks would be quicker :) and the test ride agreed with me. I will take it out tomorrow for a longer test run, find some ra...

Re: When it rains it pours

Some good news, Shinko is replacing the tire, they don't want the old tire back (which makes me wonder if they knew there is a problem with at least some of their 230 tourmaster tires) all I have to pay is $19 shipping on the replacement tire. Took everything apart today checked - rechecked - relube...

Re: When it rains it pours

Before you take it all apart make sure that the rim is turning true. Also, check to see if the tire has a high spot if the rim is running true. I hate to see you take it all apart and it is just a bad tire. The last thing that I would check or replace is the bearing. I just put one back on the road...

Re: When it rains it pours

me and my brother actually checked for this, the bead line is even all the way around on both sides of the tire, so pretty sure that's not the issue.

When it rains it pours

I replaced the rear shocks, brakes, rear and front tires and front brakes. All back together and test rode. Heard a noise in the rear end and after tarring the saddlebags and covers off again I put it up on the center stand and put it in gear and noticed the "new" rear tire had a wobble. In checking...

Re: police .modulator

Sounds like just a hard headed "officer" to me and I'd go to court with it for sure. In the "owners manual" section here there is info on it if you don't have it. They are legal in all 50 states. Good Luck ! http://goldwingdocs.com/Docs/Motorcycle ... -66010.pdf

Looks to me like an 86 1986 HONDA GOLD WING ASPENCADE GL1200A The frame serial number in California began 1HFSC1456GA200001 while in the rest of the U.S. it began 1HFSC1429GA200001. Re: Progressive Rear Shocks

matching front tire got here today, going to try and get it on tomorrow. I don't know if its because I was use to the blown out rear shocks and the worn out rear tire, but on the 15 mile road test the rear felt a little squirrely, not much but noticeable. I checked back at home, nothing leaking or l...

Re: Progressive Rear Shocks

what shocks did you get MODEL NO> of progressive? Same here I really need to change mine. I know about not riding anyone on the back. I took my daughter on a ride and me @ 160 and my daughter @ 120 on the back and every time I went over a little bump the shocks felt like they bottomed out. :o Now I...

Well got everything back on the bike, (shocks, brakes, saddlebags and covers) went for a 15 mile test ride and it felt like a completely different bike. Front tire will be here tomorrow and of course, just in time for a rainy weekend  Question: I'm running 35 PSI in the new shinko rear tire, the ...

Progressive Rear Shocks

My coil over progressives should be here tomorrow, I never ride anyone and I'm just a little :) 0ver 200lbs with only a 30" inseam, what would the best setting be? I'm thinking on using the lowest setting, anyone use these on a GL1200? Any suggestions will be welcomed.

Re: Miss when cold

My GL1200 does this when cold, but after it warms up it runs fine. Fuel mileage is good and no leaks, I'm guessing the carbs may be due a good cleaning and they are just a little out of sync. For now as its not fouling the spark plugs I'm going to let it warm up and as stated above then ride it.

Re: Road conditions Quiz

I missed 3 and like others I disagree with the new asphalt vs old washed and dry asphalt. Bu it did get me thinking about handling and I believe if I can find a refresher course in my area I will take it. That brings up a good point ( taking a refresher coarse ) I remember our Wing-Adm saying he to...

Re: where to find exhaust?

OK guys, I'm in the middle of replacing my stator, and in getting the old exhaust off, I discovered that the headers were fairly rotted and was patched together by PO. I think I can salvage the muffler and tailpipes, but the headers are shot and I can't seem to find any replacements on-line other t...

Re: What a day

nahh a little heat with some persuasion from a plastic mallet did the trick. heat the caliper a little, apply compressed air and whack it with a mallet. Sticky piston came right out. Well, ran into the same problem with my rear caliper today, used your method to finally get the stuck piston out, bu...

Re: 85 Aspencade Air Shocks

Yup, the "how to's" mentioned above are easy to follow. I just decided to change out the air shocks for progressive coil over shocks, my GL1200 interstate doesn't have an on board air compressor so it was an easy decision for me and much cheaper than new air shocks.
