Re: At wits end . . . .

I am out with the wife for a late supper right now, but will check the kill switch when I get home tonight or first thing in the AM as that is a easy check.

Re: At wits end . . . .

Yep, had that issue before, was first on the list of to check, sorry I forgot to mention it before now. Some times it is the simplest stupid things that cause the biggest issues.

Re: At wits end . . . .

I did check the fuel pump connections again after I got it home, wires all appear good, I also replaced the fuel filter as it was old and dirty (and cheap !) and so far still won’t start. I have not checked spark yet as it has been hellish hot here and I do not have a garage or covered area to take ...

At wits end . . . .

Okay, back on June 21st the wife and I took the Wing to Denver Co from our home in OkCity Ok. The route was straight forward , I-35 to I-70 to Denver. Should be no issues, right ? We where pulling our trailer, and fought a fair head wind, but a over all nice day for a ride, or so we thought. Just sh...

Re: 1998 GL1500 Igntion replacement

I just had a shop do mine, and they where cool enough to let me see it being taken out AFTER they got the plastics out of the way, made me glad I took it to them ! Was like a 2hour job for my mech who had done it before, and he was inside with AC, I would have had to do it outside, with our even as ...

Re: Question About Modern Day Camping

I have to say, unless they are only parking in these newer “High End” camp site where your RV can not be over 10 years old , you must be a member of Good Sam, etc etc, I have never had trouble getting a dry (no water or electricity) tent site with as little as 2 min warning to the camp ground. I als...

Re: Loud pipes

The popping when at low speed with the straight pipes is likely due to lack of back pressure. I have heard of many folks doing the HD dresser pipes with out dui g a jet change and having no ill effects, BUT would some Dyani time and a good carb man help, most likely yes. You might call someone like ...

Re: low radio volume 96 GL1500 Panasonic RM-G30P

My factory speakers, what was left of them, where 3 ohm and I am 95% sure that is the correct ohmage for the stock radio. That said, replacing the stock 3ohm speakers with after market 4 ohm speakers will not hurt a thing, BUT will cause a Minot loss of volume. This loss is so minor you will not be ...

Re: Time for a 3D printer?

I broke that same piece, and for now I used thin zip ties (3 of them) on each side to keep everything closed up like it should be. I have not done it yet, but I decided I am taking the rubber bar covers off the bike , putting the wires in wire split loom, and calling that good, no more rubber bar co...

Re: Radio cuts out when braking

If I am reading this right, you loose radio when applying the brakes ? If that is the case, given the added amplifier and speakers, I would say not enough alternator for everything you have running off the battery. Upgrade to a 95amp alt and all should be happy again.

Re: gl 1500 front wheel covers off

I need to clean the wheel of brake dust, BAD, but beyond hat I prefer not having the cover as I go through a set or two of pads a year, and it helps being able to see the pads and rotors with out having to take the bike/ front end apart

I have also been thinking of "lighting it up" just to make myself more visible to wake up drivers to my presents. Thanks for the link, unfortunately I will not have the cash to buy before tax season, no matter how good the deal may be.

There are a lot of nice 1800s for sale on that site. A lot of members there are buying the 2018.

Upgrading next tax season

Ok, I am going to most likely be selling my current bike, a 1996 Aspencade with 160K on it due to mileage and more importantly, how hard it is to get body panels for it.... My current thoughts are, in my order of preference: 1 first gen GL-1800 2 a fiberglass body VW trike like my old one 3 a 2007 o...

Re: My bike is in the shop

I did get some Moly Paste, on my own dime, and will be using it from now on, unfortunately they had the bike all reassembled by the time I got the moly paste, so it will have to wait to be use until I can remove the rear wheel and regrets it, might be as long as mid july and less than 10K miles befo...

Re: Time for new radio knobs

Just for fun, try spray painting the old damaged knobs flat black, and then once dry, go to your local Hobby Lobby type store and buy some stick on jewels and use them to mark the dots on the knobs. Jewels like these are what I am thinking : https://www.hobbylobby.com/Scrapbook-Paper-Crafts/Embellis...

Re: SHORT LEGS !! - BIG PROBLEM ???

Do not recall the company name, but they where present at the Wing Ding Tulsa some years back, anyway, they offered a lowering deal that dropped the rear of the bike like 2”. Another thought is loosen the pinch bolts on the fork trees, and slide about 1” of the tubes through, lowering the front of t...

Well, had anew development come up. They got the bike altogether with a good uses driveshaft and the drivesplines, and it turns out there are TWO length drive shafts available. That decal is 27 years old, with who knows what kind of neglect before you bought the bike . . . . Don’t sweat it so much.
