Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

Well, it has happened. The '09 Pearl Hot Rod Yellow GL1800 (aka the "Big Yellow Taxi") is leaving home. I finally decided that the GL1800, while a great bike on the road, is just to heavy for me to deal with in stop and go traffic, parking lots etc. So with that decision made I began the s...

Re: LEAKED PHOTOS of the 2018 Gold Wing

None of those "photos", which they aren't. Have any relevance to what Honda will release for 2018. Nice to conjecture as to what Honda, "might do", but that is all it is. I have to agree. Pure speculation, but fun. What I would like to see most would be a major diet imposed on t...

Re: Radio controls stopped working!

Did the radio reset. No change. Still no down volume on the volume switch and no down channel/CD track at that switch. Going to try the contact cleaner tomorrow but since there wasn't any malfunction ever before the sudden failure I'm not very hopeful. Any additional suggestions may help. TIA.

Radio controls stopped working!

The volume and channel controls on my 09 GL1800 stopped working but only in the lower volume and down channel/CD functions! Happened suddenly. Everything was working fine but after stopping for a walk and cold drink when we started out again the malfunction began. Help! I never realized how much I u...

Re: Towing a Goldwing

thanks to all. guess i will just get a trailer. When you do also invest in a Condor wheel chock to use when towing the winger. They are easily removed (4 thumb screws) from the trailer to allow using the trailer for any other need as well. I have them for my trailer and the bike rolls right into th...

Re: GL1800 Goldwing Brakes Drag after recall fix

My dealer called me a short while ago and told me the bike is ready. They said that the rear brake fluid looked contaminated and could only surmise that the fluid that was put in after the rear MC recall was the culprit. Contamination would cause the fluid to expand significantly when the brake/flui...

Re: GL1800 Goldwing Brakes Drag after recall fix

I hear you. We got our 09 with only 9,000 miles on it. Hardly ever ridden by the original owner. Perhaps the secondary rear master cylinder installed in the recall is defective. IDK. I'm sure they'll sort it and get it right.

Re: GL1800 Goldwing Brakes Drag after recall fix

bones6599, that's great news. I dropped my bike off at my dealer, Sportline Powersports in Glens Falls, NY, this morning. They'll go through it and let me know. I told them no rush as I still have 3 other bikes I/we can ride. They have always been great for service, maintenance and parts. Very thoro...

Re: GL1800 Goldwing Brakes Drag after recall fix

Lakelivin, I feel we do have the same situation. I'll be on the phone with my dealer tomorrow to set up an appointment once the Americade crowds are gone and things are back to normal at the dealership. I'll be certain to keep everyone aware as I learn more over the next couple of weeks. I'm looking...

Re: GL1800 Goldwing Brakes Drag after recall fix

Should this recall have eliminated "grabbing" brakes? My '06 had the initial recall accomplished about a week before I bought it (used). After owning it for about a month, I had the local Honda shop install a pair of new tires and new brakes all around. Since then the brakes have periodic...

Re: Check out the Goldwing Classifieds for more!

That's because only complete bikes are returned. eBay has them listed and this sites' store has them for sale new. I was just hoping to not spend $600 for something I only want to add to the bike but would rarely use.

Re: Check out the Goldwing Classifieds for more!

Hi Goldwing Admin,

I want to search for a factory CB radio for my 09 GL1800. Nno matter how I search I seem to get only bikes for sale and I can't figure out how to then limit my search to just parts adverts. Please help! Thanks

Try out a Harley if you want a distinctive "CLUNK!" Compared to that the GW tranny is practically silent.

Re: The Best (and cheapest) Riding Sunglasses

I have very long eye lashes so most wrap around sunglasses fit so close to my eyes that they are uncomfortable as my eye lashes will just touch and rub against the lenses. The only sunglasses I have found that fit comfortably and offer good eye and wind protection (even though their appearance would...

Re: ABS, why's and why nots?

Well it seems that ABS is the way to go but there seems to be more Goldwings out there for sale without ABS brakes. I guess I'm just going to hold my wad of cash and find the right one. Good decision IMHO. After getting my first ABS bike and experiencing how well it works when needed I will not own...

If you were to see all my bikes at one time they'd convey "Multiple personality disorder" - Winger, Ducati Scrambler, mid 80's Honda Interceptor, and a really old CR 250, at this moment in time. Wanna see some different bikes? Just come visit a little into the future. The exhibit here chan...

Re: "Old man bike"?

I heard the same thing from my VFR friends when the VFR 800 left and the Wing took it's place. Granted I still have some other small bikes to play with (feeding my MBS issues) but really, a Goldwing is only an "old mans bike" if you ride it like an old man. My case in point is here: [url] ...

Re: My GL650I is home

I had a grey/silver 83 GL 650 I bought new in 83. Loved it but knew it was time to get back on a sportier bike after a few years when I was hanging off the bike while cornering. Oh to be young and silly once again! That said I have it all now, GL 1800, VFR 700 F and the new Ducati Scrambler. Yep, ge...

Bought a 2015 Ducati Scrambler

Well, about 4 weeks ago we sold the 2004 Wide Glide and then two weeks ago ended up buying a 2015 Ducati Scrambler 800. Something had to fill that empty space in the garage :D . It is an absolutely fun bike to ride. Weighs 410 lbs wet and has gobs of torque/acceleration. It's going in for the first ...

'09 GL 1800 right side pocket lock release cable help

I'm trying to replace the release cable for the right side front fairing pocket and having an issue. I can't seem to get the new cable routed correctly. It works fine until before completing the install but once I install the switch panel (lower with key lock) then it binds and the key won't turn. C...
