Re: 85 LIMITED running very rich on 2 cylinders

It has been a long while since my original post and I want to thank everyone who replied. I did eventually find and fix the problem. It was a vacuum line that had come loose from the fitting. I had to dissassemble half the top of the bike to find it but I did find it! Once I reconnected it the bike ...

Re: 1200 training wheels

Wireguy51, I checked into this trike kit a few years back. They are sold by the company who makes them some where in Texas. I priced the kit for my bike which is an 85 Limited. The kit I looked at came with the reverse and painted to match my bike. All I would have to do is assemble and install it. ...

Re: keeping the side covers on

Thank you for the update Chuck. I know they are out there some where. It is just a matter of finding them. Ebay may be the best bet, but I still wouldnt hold out on it either. Just may get lucky though..... everything is on ebay. Lol!

Re: keeping the side covers on

I checked out the link you posted CMReynolds1, but there was nothing listed for a 1200. I saw something for a 1000, 1500 and the 1800. Nothing for the 1100 or 1200. Maybe I did something wrong.

Relays

I have a 1985 Limited. Anyone who knows Goldwings knows that this bike is a fuel injection bike, not carb. . I do not know enough about the other GL1200 models to know what relays or how many they have. I know I have had issues with the relays on particular bike and I have had to replace 1 to this p...

Re: keeping the side covers on

I have read a lot about this. As I have an 85 Limited. And mostly what I have seen in all of the forums would a resounding yes to your question. The rubber grommets over time just wont keep a good tight hold on the covers and seems to be a common issue with all wings. My bike is no exception. I lost...

Re: How to Predict Catastrophic GL1200 Stator Failure

Having an 85' GL 1200L, yes, things are a lot different but very much the same as all the other 1200's out there, when it comes to the charging systems on these bikes. Again please keep in mind this phrase..... it is not a matter of if but when.......... the charging system is going to fail. My bike...

Re: 85 LIMITED running very rich on 2 cylinders

Thank you again! I have yet had a few minutes to check into everything. And it seems I must ride the bike once again. Fortunately it is not far today. I WILL look into it just as soon as I possibly can and I will get back to you to let you know what I do or do not find out. Thank you again!

Re: 85 LIMITED running very rich on 2 cylinders

Awesome information. I did receive the email and I will open it shortly. I hope. Very busy and checking my emails as quickly as possible before I have to leave for work so it may be a little later before I get back to it. However once I have had time to check it over I may or may not have questions....

85 LIMITED running very rich on 2 cylinders

I have a 1985 Honda GL 1200 L. This means it is FUEL INJECTED not carb'ed. So please think carefully before responding with help. I do APPRECIATE ALL reply's that may be helpful, just trying to reduce some that will not. With that said, it is running so rich on the two right side cylinders. So rich ...

Re: How do you handle test rides

I did look at a bike once where the owner was not willing to let me ride the bike myself but did offer to take me for a ride on it with him driving it. Some may say that they would never ride on the back but if they are truely interested then I really do not see why it would be that big of a deal. Y...

Re: How do you handle test rides

I have yet to sell any bike I have bought. All I can tell you is what the seller of my current bike and I did. I am like you and will NOT buy a bike until I have given it a proper test drive. The seller had no problems allowing to test ride the bike. But here is how things went....... I drove in a t...

Re: Parking lights blowing fuse on 85 LTD

Just wanted to update everyone on this issue. Found the problem. It was a direct short in the wiring on the lights that are attached to mud flap on the rear of the bike. removed all of the light assembly from the mud flap and replaced with a custom modified set up using strobe lights. Will eventuall...

Re: Bank Angle Sensor test yesterday

This is in response to Mariner's post........... The factory repair manual for my 85 Limited has a test for these sensors with them removed from the bike. I do not know if your 03 has this off the bike test or not. If it does it is a whole easier than intentially laying your bike on its side and the...

Re: Bank Angle Sensor test yesterday

I tested my sensors a few months ago. and periodically. I have an 85 GL 1200 Limited! Perhaps because it is a Limited it has them I am not sure, but they are there and have been tested many times and have passed every single time.

Thank you again for the information Virgil! I hope to try this soon. I have been busy with work and unable to do any further testing to this point. As soon as I get the time I will use this method and post on here as to what the outcome of the testing revealed.

Re: Parking lights blowing fuse on 85 LTD

I like your idea Virgil ! I may try that! I have removed ALL but 2 added lights to the bike. The only 2 I left were the 2 on the mudflap behind the rear tire. I recently replaced a bulb in it that had been out from day I bought it. And the thought of it causing the issue was the very first thing tha...

Re: Parking lights blowing fuse on 85 LTD

When I first stopped in the parking lot I had taken the panels off and the seat and moved many wires around trying to do just that. Even laid down on the ground under the boxes to check and move wires and and it still blew the new fuse instantly. Will definitely try again though! Thank you for the a...

Parking lights blowing fuse on 85 LTD

Was riding the other day and lost all parking lights. i pulled over and found the fuse was blown. Replaced the fuse and it too blew instantly. Direct power to ground short some where. I got the bike home on the 4 way flashers and a small led light to see the dash. I tore it down and started to work ...

I am currently 41, will be 42 in a few months. Got my Wing a year and half ago. It was more my dads speed. My was always a sport touring bike suck as the Kawaski Concours and bikes of the like. Having raced bikes professionally in the late 90's I am now looking for a more "relaxed" type of riding. M...

Merv, I absolutely love the 1200L with that trike kit!!! That is AWESOME!! The painted to match fenders / tail piece! The wheels look good with it too! I am assuming that with the factory hard bags still installed that this is a add a trike kit which retains the the bags and the rear wheel?! I have ...

Re: 1200 training wheels

I think this is an excellent idea and that it could help an enormous amount of people. Something to consider, as it could turn out to be quite beneficial to you, is making a few of these set ups yourself and selling them. As you said they just aren't made for our bikes. Not to many can weld and if s...

Tapping noise in cylinder head

I have a 1985 GL1200 L. It had an intermittent tapping coming from the left cylinder head which had become more frequent about a month ago. I talked to a few people that said it was most likely the hydraulic valve adjusters and to just keep riding it. I do not believe that would be the best advice. ...
