Re: Honda Intercom or Bluetooth, what is better?
The bill seems to help with wind noise as well.

Re: Honda Intercom or Bluetooth, what is better?
No matter what you choose to go with, none of it will fulfill every wish. Every choice you make has a cost, and they add up and multiply fast. I remember when I started riding back in '78, my Arei full face helmet ($50 new) had no vents other than the flip up wind screen, and was the quietest helmet...

Re: Honda Intercom or Bluetooth, what is better?
I have both wired and Bluetooth and have used both with a passenger extensively. While the wired headsets are reliable as a stone, and work with all the built in stuff (AM/FM, Cassette, CB, Intercom) which is really nice when and if you use them, it suffers from the fact that it is wired into that p...

Re: DEFINE; Biker and Motorcyclist
Same question on a couple of other MC forums. Sound familiar? This question comes up all the time on every forum and the responses are always the same. Kinda like a Rorschach test for "motorcycle riders". Says a lot about the personality of the responders. Always interesting and fun to read. :) htt...

Re: Do you wear your " Helmet "
I used to wear a helmet primarily for crash protection. That is still a big reason, but I have learned to appreciate that the helmet makes everyday riding much more enjoyable without crashing into the pavement or whatever. If you have ever been hit in the chest by a June Bug at 70 mph, you know you ...

Re: CB Channel
I think "Cluttered" is a nice term for the reality that leaving the CB on is to subject yourself to a constant stream of offensive verbal diarrhea. I have used my CB when riding with a group, and it is very nice when confronted with a traffic jam to be able to find out whats going on up ahead. In bo...

Re: Steel BB's/ Balance tires
Dito what PastoT said. I have used Dyno Beads for multiple tires. Take them out of the old tire, blow out the dust, put them into the new tire. I check the weight and add beads because some get spilled. I don't believe the dust is from the beads wearing out. It is more likely rubber and wax knocked ...

Re: Antenna tears in motorcycle cover
It is not just an 1800 problem. The first cover I bought for my '99 GL1500SE was a light nylon. Although it had reinforcements sewn in for the antenna, they were to small and I made a small rip the very first time I put it on. After that I had to be careful every time I used it. I later purchased a ...

Re: Blue toothing a 1800
I have been using uClear blu-tooth for a number of years. I really like not having a microphone in front of my lips. I have one for my helmet, and one for my wife. We both connect our own uClear to our individual phones, so we can take calls (if we want to). We can talk to each other without the bac...

Re: Questions regarding "older" men and Goldwings
You got the wing for a good reason (Your wife is comfortable riding it) and now you need to learn to ride it for the same reason (So your wife is comfortable riding it). Then you get the blessing and joy of having your wife all snuggled up behind you as you ride together. Just like some other things...

Re: Why use the radio speakers
At any highway speed, I cannot hear my bike speakers well enough to enjoy the music. Back when I rode with a wired helmet, I would listen to the radio through the headset, but only when I am riding alone as my wife does not like it. For the last few years I have been using a Blu-tooth system. I can ...

Re: CB Channel
I have occasionally tried to call out to another gold wing rider with the CB, but I have never received a reply. Likely this is because, like me, they do not keep the radio on except when riding in a group, or when confronted with a backup and trying to find out what is going on. Also, now that I ha...

Re: Rear tire blow out
Had a rear tire blow out in southern Utah last summer. Dunlop Elite III with 80% tread. GL1500SE, two up, with a trailer. I-15 going 85 mph. We had rode across from Dove Creek to Salina, Ut the day before and early the next morning we got onto I-5. I was only riding the superslab from Scripio to Hol...

Re: Do you wear your " Helmet "
Although I have never gone down at speed on a bike (just parking lot tip overs), I have been in a number of car accidents over the years. In a couple of those I was not wearing my seat belt, and I noticed that I did not find the time to put it on when I saw the accident developing. Even the ones whe...

Re: Please tell who or what made you buy a Goldwing
Good evening ladies and gents. We've had our new Wing just under a month and I just had the 600 mile service done this morning. I know, shame on me for taking so long to get this many miles on her. Our longest ride so far has only been about 55 miles, but I have other 150-300 mile trips planned to ...

Re: Dealer lied about the trike and being serviced
When anyone says, "the bike has been serviced", the next question is, "list of services performed?". Did they change the oil and filter? What about the spark plugs? Do they have records that they checked the brake pads and noted how worn they were (50%, 75%, etc)? Then you can back check some of tho...

Re: 1995 GL1500 passenger weight
I have always considered the weight limits listed as "Suggestions" or "Guidelines" rather than hard rules. Primarily because, as noted above, you see them exceeded all the time. How many of us has never put more weight in the trunk or side cases than the manual says the max weight is? Likewise, as m...

Re: A rant from Michigan
Do you own land in Vermont, or have some other connection to the state? Many of us who live close to a state line see people who shop for cheaper registration across state lines. But the states will ticket you for failure to register your vehicle in the state you reside in. Here in northern Mississi...

Re: How to buy used bike from owner. [NC]
The suggestion of borrowing a bike for the road test has some dangers. When I took my road test (back in the 70's if I remember), there was a guy on a borrowed bike. First, the bike was a chopper, and the engineering was all messed up. Second, he had only road the five miles from his friends house t...

Re: Cruise Control, Do You Use It On The Highway?
I use my CC all the time. I use it to keep from getting speeding tickets, and so I can do things with my right hand besides hold the throttle. My only complaint is that I rode long enough without a CC that I unconsciously hang onto the throttle, so when the CC increases the throttle to go up a hill,...

As long as the general public would refer to it as a "hospital", I have no objections. I will even accept an animal hospital.
