Re: Monotubes VS Traxxion

Waiting in my garage is a Traxxion rear actuator and spring assembly. New to me from a 1000 mile test ride on a different bike. Set up for a man who is 270# and his wife. I am 266# . 👍 I also have the Progressive Monotubes waiting in the garage for me too. With winter arriving yesterday I will wait ...

Re: Auxiliary Lights Wired to Highbeams

I think I did what you are trying to do -- The 'fog lamps go OFF when the High beams are on - The AUX light under my mirrors go ON with the HIGH Beams Pick up energy from the BLUE wire near the FOG ON switch and use that to flip your relay - Then your lower lights will switch off when the AUX lights...

Re: 2002 GL1800 Owners check in !

My '02 currently has 57,000 miles on it - I have had no trouble with it since I got it a few years ago at 25K - I anticipate it will be the last Goldwing I will ever own as I approach retirement and advancing age - My son recently purchased a lightly used (37K) '03 which is nearly the exact same mo...

Monotubes VS Traxxion

Progressive Monotubes or Traxxion Dynamics Upgrade -- It seems to me that one can get nearly 75% of the upgrade for nearly 1/2 the cost when comparing these two front fork suspension upgrades? I know many thing the Traxxion is the best way to go and it probably is -- but budgets also dictate where t...

I see that it is sold. Makes quite the video. I hope you don't mind a few questions, since I want a camera on my bike. * How did you mount it on your Wing? Did you ever worry about losing it? I have mounted it is various places but the video above it was clamped onto the aux light mount I have that...

Re: Shocks

I’ve been commuting on a Goldwing to work for the past 15 years in the Bay Area. Upgrade four years ago to a 2007 GL1800 from an ‘84 GL1100. Retired it when it flipped 200k. Shocks are always a question. Is there a solution for not bottoming out when riding double? Max’ed out air. I understand I am...

Re: At wits end . . . .

When I had my 96 it would act in a similar fashion sometimes. IF you had less than a 1/2 tank of fuel when this happened - And it was hot or the engine was hot - I suspect the fuel pump is weak - The 1500 will keep feeding fuel while the tank is 1/2 or above via gravity - after that the next 1/2 of ...

Looking at your profile it lists you are riding Double Darkside -
Hopefully they don't use that against you to dodge the issue of a faulty driveline -

Re: Necessary to periodically re-inspect for frame cracks?

There were 100s of bike produced that never developed any cracks
Some did crack - I won an '02 and my son has an '03 and we look them over pretty often and have the dealer inspect when we can -
Both bikes are around 50K and so far -- so good ...

Re: Gl1800 and Avon Cobra tires

Unless Avon has come out with a new Cobra, stay away from the rear unless you want this to happen. Mine blew at 70 mph and I was able to get it to the side of the road without any problems. There are many reports of this happening to the rear on other GW forums. The tire only had about 8K miles on ...

Re: Mystery Sound on a 84' 1200A

Thanks I found out what was causing the tapping, I put Seafoam in the oil and drive it for 70 miles and changed my gas from the low end of the gas being sold today to a 97 octane , within 5 miles the tapping went away. thanks everyone My bet is the Seafoam in the oil cleared the clogged oil port - ...

Re: Mystery Sound on a 84' 1200A

Is it a clacking sound ?
There is an oil port inside the head that feeds the rockers with a squirt of oil-
When that clogs up from old dirty oil it can be a real problem -
intermittent clacking is the signal -

Re: Shifter Pivot - Ordered one, now a question

Should be pretty straight forward - I have done 3 of them over the years -- 2 for me and 1 for a riding buddy Only on my '96 did I have any clearance issues -- I actually removed the header to get to it easier.. Be patient -- it will happen - In my opinion -- adding the pivot without changing the se...

Re: SuperbrightLEDs.com Mini-Aux Driving Lights

Thanks Wingsconsin! Your reply and photos were short and sweet. Q) Would a matched pair of auxiliary driving lights with a 30 degree beam angle, whatever the lumens, be too wide of a beam to use without blinding on-coming traffic? That is, if I want to stay with a matched pair of lights, should I o...
