Re: Real Numbers on 1500

Better intake & exhaust alone can add a lot of power. It is the easiest and cheapest method. That is why headers and special intakes are so popular on Detroit V8's.

Real Numbers on 1500

Everyone has seen the quarter mile, horsepower & torque figures for the 1500. 100 horses at 5200 rpm 110 torque at 4000 rpm 13.8 sec in 1/4 at 94 mph. From a perfect engine at the factory. Of course the HP and Torque numbers are from the crank. NOT all the Horses and torque gets to the rear wheels. ...

Re: Sleeping beauty says," give me some proof", part 2

I think you are in the wrong place for an answer Made. The members of this forum do the timing belt thing or will be doing it. We are maintience happy, give me a wrench, kiss my GW every morning before work, create mile long threads about what is the best oil to use or tire or what is the best color...

Keeping those little fiddly thing on

My turn to share a tip with the gang here. Before my 1500 I had a 1200. After just two weeks of ownership I lost the left side battery cover. What a horror to replace. So losing plastic on the road has been a concern of mine. Got a Full Keeper Kit from front to back on the 1500. But there are a coup...

Re: Helmet-mounted brake light

I got a G Max helmet. It does steady light, slow flash & fast Flash. When I ride at night I just put it to steady. It seems to get enough attention. Got a couple of thumbs up & one "that's cool" from cagers

QSL will also give away 2 bikes this summer. Of course Harley's were most popular and they are mainly bar queens. This was a thousand bike night...

Re: My opinion 1800 vrs 1500

I had a rode a 1200 for one summer two years ago. My fiancé wanted something more comfortable than a Kawy 800 Valcun. Loved it but got the "need a bigger one fever" and wanted to upgrade badly to the 1500. Just did not have $10,000 or better for a 1800. Have a 94 1500 Aspy with 29k. Great bike, rel...

SO night before last I pulled the air filterfor the first time. Happy me it was a cloth filter not paper, Just like K&N. So I used cleaner, let it dry, then some ...

It will get better. You learn, Buy tools when you can. The best thing is brakes are brakes, car or bike. Twisting a wrench on your bike will set you up for twisting a wrench on all your future rides.

Bleeding Clutch on 1200

Had a hell of a time bleeding the clutch till I saw a You tube video. Crack the banjo bolt at the handlebars and pump lever a couple of times. Hold the lever in & tighten bolt. If it doesn't work remove Banjo bolt put your finger over hole on clutch lever & pump. Hold lever in when installing bolt. ...

Re: Polished AL side covers Part 1

Here is the final product. Worked at making a dup of the originals using AL sheet but that was not to be. So simplified the design. Polishing raw sheet AL is a total pain. So tried paint. got them close but not prefect. Used a little of that car door guard for the edges. The only bending of the meta...

Re: IDEAS FOR A LIGHT TRAILER?

a light weight trailer is easy to get. But you will need it to be 8 foot long. Harbor Freight has a 4X8 road legal trailer for $300 but some assembly required. Just check craiglist, the internet. You can get one for $300 to $800.

How do you talk???

My better half wants her own bike. She likes a Suzuki C50T. Just fine by me. But when she was on the back of the wing talking was not hard. She would just turn down the music. YES she was in charge of the tunes. SO the question is best bike to bike comm systems? My Wing does not have CB. Money, ease...

Need Muffler replacement

HI guys. Not that this will be done soon but my 85 1200 Aspencade is going to need mufflers. The header pipes are OK. IT is the crossover thing that is rusting away. What is the prefered replacement? Really can see buying used OEM mufflers. But can keep an eye out for a deal on replacements. Thanks ...

Darn missed 3.

I though the edge traps were those cuts they make so your tires sing. YOU know when you drift off the edge of the road & the tires go BRRRD BRRRD BRRD.

Asphalt?? old?? new?? concrete??? Never pushed it so hard as to notice a difference.
