Re: From a Wing to a Burgman?

I had bought a well maintained, low milage '06 Burgman 650 Executive when I first considered selling my 1500 'Wing. I wanted to see if it would be a good replacement. With a Corbin seat, huge underseat storage, and a Givi 52 liter top case, it has almost as much storage as my Goldwing. It also is al...

Re: epoxy sealant/ adhesive

I've used Plast-aid to remake tabs and it works great, but is a bit costly. I've also used ABS cement(glue) and it too has worked very well. If using ABS cement, make sure to pre-treat the area with solvent. Regular PVC solvent will work just fine for that purpose. If you can't find ABS cement, try ...

Re: This is the most difficult bike I have ever worked on.

If you research the site before doing the work, you'll find it's not really all that bad. Yes, you have to take off some tupperware, but it isn't any harder than a few screws and unlocking a few tabs usually. Almost every part you could ever need is available online. My GL1500 is a snap, compared to...

Re: MidWest Upper Peninsula Michigan Ride

Awhile back we did a " From Hell to Paradise" ride, (of course stopping to get our Cheesburger in Paradise-to pay homage to Jimmy Buffet)as part of our tour of the U.P. There was a great micro brewery a few doors down from the only motel in Copper Harbor, a must stop, if it's still there.

Another thanks for posting Brett. Sadanorakman-you don't care for it...simple solution, don't watch. Pedestrians get killed everyday, all over the world. Perhaps, to your way of thinking, walking should be banned.

Re: tire question

A can of Fix-a-Flat WILL make a gooey mess inside the tire, and can possibly attack the rim itself. That stuff should never, ever, be used on a bike . The best way to repair is to patch it. No one can decide whether to repair or replace, other than you. With two small tire contact patches between me ...

Re: Tire Sealent

The best thing to do, if you want to save the tire, is to take it off and have it patched on the inside. While plugs can work, and I've done it, I did have one come out and left me stranded. Most sealants work well for creating a mess inside the tire and on the rim, but Ride On works well, too.

Re: Cleaning vented windshield?

There's a windshield cleaning thingy I bought years ago from wallyworld. It has a micro fiber pad on a plastic curved handle. It works well on the bike as well as the car. They used to sell the same thing on TV.

Free- speedometer inner cable

I got an antenna for free, just playing it forward! I have an INNER speedometer cable. It's the part that slides inside of the black cable housing between your instrument cluster and the speedometer gear. it will fit a gl1200, and many others. Honda Part # 44831-ME5-300.

Re: I'm torn....stay with the 1500 or move on to the 1800

My 93 Gl1500 is the most comfortable ride I've had in over 50 years. That being said, I considered moving up to an 1800. I felt a little cramped. the 1800 felt a little spunkier(and probably got better gas mileage), but at the end of the day, I decided to keep my 1500. More room, bigger trunk and ba...

Re: Trail braking

It all depends on what you're trying to do. If your looking to maximize speed through the corners, the axiom is slow in, fast out- slowing before entering and powering through the turn. IMHO, I think it is a very poor practice to use the front brake while in the turn on public roads. There's too muc...

Re: Dark side Nokian 185/75-15 on 96 SE

One of the nice things about running that tire is not having to worry about heat build up, while running at highway speed while touring out there. It can get ̶p̶r̶e̶t̶t̶y̶ ̶w̶a̶r̶m̶ down right hot and that's a bad combination for thread life. You might want to try bumping that pressure up to 46#., r...

My Aspencade 1500 is turning close to 7K rpm @ 70 mph. What the heck are you running for gears/tire?

CORRECTION: I just suffered a senior moment- That's on my scooter!

Just tell the "purchaser" to buy the report. If they truly want the machine, and it's a legitimate concern, tell them you'll refund the $10-$25 dollars THEY spent for it when they pay for the bike.

Re: Speaking of Austone Taxi Tires....

I had around 35K on mine when I changed it out. It still wasn't at the wear bars. I replaced it with a bike tire, because I'm contemplating selling the bike, but I'm sorry I did. I'm ordering one today just to have in case I decide to keep the bike.
