Re: Roadfaxit VIN check scam?

Just tell the "purchaser" to buy the report. If they truly want the machine, and it's a legitimate concern, tell them you'll refund the $10-$25 dollars THEY spent for it when they pay for the bike.

Re: Speaking of Austone Taxi Tires....

I had around 35K on mine when I changed it out. It still wasn't at the wear bars. I replaced it with a bike tire, because I'm contemplating selling the bike, but I'm sorry I did. I'm ordering one today just to have in case I decide to keep the bike.

Re: A new bike...

Just a quick note of warning to others-because I know that WingAdmin knows better- is to pay strict attention to the orientation of the sliders when converting the rollers to sliders. There have been many cases where owners, especially Burgman owners, experienced an issue with a slider "flipping". A...

Re: ride to a stranger?

I think it's crazy to expect anyone to plop down thousands of dollars on a bike without a test ride, unless your prepared to offer a guarantee of some sort- which is riskier than letting a qualified potential buyer take a ride.

Re: Drivers test bike

My road test at the time consisted of doing three circles to the left, three circles to the right, and three figure eights- staying within the curbs of the street and not putting a foot down. Then I was given half a dozen instructions to remember, then pull to the curb. The tester, who followed with...

Look into a side trip to the Back Of The Dragon. IMHO, much better than the Tail. Unfortunately, I'm already booked for another rally the same week in Cooperstown,NY.

If it was fine before, you messed up! I know, you didn't need to hear that, but I'm surprised you didn't figure that out.

Drivers test bike

Just curious as to what bike did you take your road test on. For me, it was a year old 1965 Yamaha 80, but I got my bike license six months before I got a car license.

Why not make arrangements, ride across, buy and have mounted, and ride back? No fuss, no muss, and the border doesn't have to know.

As I stated originally, I posted that only to make owners(and potential customers) aware of potential issues. Re: Ever got rid of a bike you wish you hadn't?

Like themainviking, I've regretted selling every bike I've had (over 70) except for one. That was an old Triumph Tiger Cub, that left me stranded every time I rode it. I spent way more hours wrenching and fixing than I did riding that lemon.

Re: Helmet Quick Connect

While I'm not certain about the holding power of my metal "D" rings, I'm pretty sure I trust them more than the plastic quick connects I've seen. If I were to have a serious off, my helmet staying on and in place is a lot more important than the five seconds I might save putting it on.
