Re: GL1500 stereo upgrade/replacement

You guys are all correct on the relay and fuse. I will get to it soon lol. Stereo has a factory 15amp inline fuse also. Rode to work and back in the rain today radio worked fine on factory 5amp acc port. But it was also 20 degrees cooler today as a cold front came through. Thank God, it feels good ...

Re: GL1500 stereo upgrade/replacement

You don't need the depth it would fit fine at the stock radio depth in fact the Jensen is thinner than the stock one.

Re: GL1500 stereo upgrade/replacement

I removed the stock radio, as I am not sure there is clearance with it in place. I used the cover because it was available (the unobtanium 2.0 was not available at that time). I kept the stock stereo on my toolbox for a conversation piece it seems. I ran new speaker wires and used a donor (junker) ...

I like your seat covers. Do you know if they are still available? I tried the link but did see anything for theGL1500.
Just send them an email they are very responsive and even have a facebook page and messenger account. Really great company to work with!

Re: GL1500 stereo upgrade/replacement

Smack67, Did you find that the 40w output was sufficient, or did you install an amp? Also, could you post some information on what speakers you used with the enclosures? Thank you sir James 40w is more than sufficient for me, even with my LS2 Valiant helmet in full face mode. As for the speakers, t...

Re: GL1500 stereo upgrade/replacement

Smack if you ever get the wiring for the remote sorted out.. please let us know how you did it. Would love to be able to keep the controls on the handlebars. I used Parts Express Mini 8 Pin DIN Female in-Line Jack from amazon and some 8 conductor communications cable to connect to the two female ja...

Re: GL1500 stereo upgrade/replacement

I'm thinking that the majority of riders actually want/listen to the radio/songs while riding. A storage box is a good idea too though, , , just not as relaxing as listening to some good soothing music. That waterproof Jensen that Smack67 installed is an impressive unit, , ,wish I'd found it when I...

Re: GL1500 stereo upgrade/replacement

Hey Smack67, What is the Make/model of that Marine Radio??? Do you know the distance from the rear part of the "body" to the "bottom" of that "face-plate"? Would it fit in a 3" deep hole? Does the radio have an Aux-in plug, , , , ,does it have a USB port, , , ,Bluetooth capable??? It is a Jensen JH...

Re: GL1500 stereo upgrade/replacement

Finished wiring up the left hand controls today, cb channel up/down is now volume +/- and the cassette up/down is now tune +/-. Mute is mode and PTT is mute. Works great, how many more days do we have to endure of winter.

Re: GL1500 stereo upgrade/replacement

very clean setup! were you able to the new use the left hand controls with the new setup? Waiting to hear back from ASA electronics (Jensen) about the wired remote pin-out so that I can wire up the left hand controls. I have a donor bike for harness parts so I completely eliminated the use of the f...

GL1500 stereo upgrade/replacement

Well I finally swapped out the stereo in my 1500 for something a little more modern. I really created a new harness for it so that I could go back if I chose. It came out great and it sounds a lot better especially with the 5.25 speakers I managed to cram into the dash. 12 wpc to 40 wpc makes quite ...

Re: Timing belt noise

Thanks that is what I thought, when I purchased the belts I am sure I asked for the 250075, but never verified before installation. From now on I will be careful to check the part number on the actual part. You have no idea how many times I pulled those covers off at various locations, campgrounds, ...

I may not be the brightest bulb but what if one put on a belt say for a gl1200 #250070 might that belt be a bit wider or longer?

Re: Awesome Seat Covers

I suppose I could have brought it to an upholstery shop, but it wasn't too hard. Some of the guys who have bought covers from Wajalis have brought them to guys who would modify the foam for them but I like my stock seats. The only mod I made was to put some 1" foam under the drivers portion to give ...

Awesome Seat Covers

Hey,
I just got some seat covers for my 1500 on Ebay they are custom jobs but the workmanship is outstanding. I am in fact a little apprehensive about sticking them, has any one done it (replaced the covers) and how did it turn out.
