Re: 2001 carbs on a 1989 gl 1500

2001 GL1500 carbs!
You should be able to sell those for a million bucks.....
....since Honda didn't make any 2001 gl1500s.
1500 production ended in 2000.
2001 was the start of the 1800, and those were fuel injected.

Re: First trip advice

Just remember, if a belt breaks, your engine is toast.
Pistons will hit valves doing lots of damage and you can junk that bike.

Re: What happened to Randakk?

I just tried a different browser and there it was.
Apparently Firefox was having a problem at my
end. It just wouldn't display that web site.

George in Jersey,
That's a heck of a detailed topic on the timing belt change. Thanks to whomever posted it!
That was done by the owner and administrator of this forum, WingAdmin.

Re: Introduction and question

Welcome to the forum, Will. Sorry I can't help you with that hose. But I will tell you this. Before you put that bike on the road, REPLACE THE TIMING BELTS! That is an interference engine. If a belt breaks, valves hit pistons and goodbye engine. Only buy Gates or Napa belts. Instructions on how to d...

Wow! With all the work you did, you might have been better off
if you just jacked up the gas cap and put a new bike under it.

Re: Mileage

Similar situation here.
Previous owner of my '99 1500 put 70,000 on in 17 years,
roughly 4,000 miles a year. Not much really.
I've put another 27,000 miles on it in 2 1/2 years.
It should turn 100,000 before this season is out.

Talk about feeling like an idiot!!

Ok, I got a good one for ya. Just happened a couple of days ago. The shed where I keep my bike is at the end of a narrow alley alongside my house. I always pull into the shed forwards and back out. And my GL1500 has aftermarket chrome saddlebag guards that wrap around the rear and sides of the bike....

Re: Taller Shock Absorber replacement

If you raise the rear with a taller shock, you will be changing the angle
of the steering, resulting in bad handling.

Re: Saddlebag light relay?

Yup, that is a kind of transformer for the saddlebag lights. Those saddlebag lights do not use bulbs. They are a kind of electroluminescent panel and they are known to go bad. That little transformer puts out about 100 volts if it is working, so be careful. Since my saddlebag lights were not working...

Dodged a bullet today---Never follow too closely!

Hey gang, I was coming home around noon today in the pickup truck, on a stretch of road that I usually ride on my Goldwing, when I almost got it. I was following a flat bed/roll off/tow truck. Luckily, I wasn't following too closely. He had a wooden pallet with a V8 engine strapped to the deck. He h...

The gas stations we start at are fully functional with coffee, all kinds of eats and the such its not just gas. Same here. We usually meet at the local Quick Check which is a gas station with a store/mini restaurant attached. "Kick Stands Up" is usually scheduled for a half hour after the meet up t...

I belong to the Blue Knights TX 1 www.blueknightstx1.org we are often riding in groups either to a meal a couple of times a month or more lengthy rides to a set destination. We meet at various locations and have a KSU (Kick Stands Up) time. We leave at that time and if you aren't there you know whe...

Just ordered both the A and B from third party suppliers. Not Honda but 20 bucks each new. Not China material.
Who did you buy them from?
Can you give us a link?

Re: Starter issue

I agree. But I'll bet that those relays are used in other vehicles out there and
are made by some outside source. I doubt Honda makes them themselves.

Re: Starter issue

I just started having the same problem with my 1500.
Cyclemax wants $65 for each of those relays.
Seems a bit excessive to me.
Anyone know of a better source?
Thanks in advance guys.
