Re: OMG - Another Alternator POST ??
My 99 1500 came with a 90 amp Compufire, installed by the previous owner when the bike was fairly new. About a year and a half after I got the bike, the Compufire failed. Opened it up and the windings were actually broken. Local alternator shop said it wasn't worth fixing. Then followed TWO chinese ...

Re: Quitting motorcycles
I find that motorcycling is my mental therapy.
As you said, it clears the mind. It makes the world seem good again.
I'm 72 and have no intention of quitting anytime soon.
As of this month, I've been riding for 54 years.
P.S. It's a BEEUTIFUL day here. I'm going for a ride!

Re: Darkside: No Taxi Tire...now what?
If you could let us know the tires feel difference at sidewall PSI, lower & higher. I/we found for the Austone 41-47 was much like a std. rear MT. . I also run the Austone, but at 38 to 39 psi. Stable as a rock. Seems strange that you have to run it at so high a pressure. P.S. about 18,000 mile...

I also used ebay china bulbs, the kind that flash 3 or 4 times before they go steady-on.
No problems with my cruise either. Still works fine.

Re: Clutch noise?
That's a wet clutch. Adding anything to the motor oil that makes it more slippery could make the clutch slip.

Re: OEM Alternators - where best to get one
If it says Hitachi, you got a good one.
I managed to find a Hitachi at a bike shop on the internet.
It was probably the last one left out there.
And it cost me about $400.
Good luck in your search.

Saturday June 25 is a day I will never forget, I had a near fatal ATV crash. I have rode over 250 k on motorcycles, and this happened going less than 5 mph. I was smoothing out some ruts at the cabin left by a well digging truck, I was turning around in a narrow area close to the edge on a hill. Th...

Re: Tire bead breaker
I lay my wheel on a couple of pieces of 2x4 to keep the brake disc up off the ground.
Then I lay a four foot length of 2x6 from the ground up onto the tire.
I drive one front wheel of my pickup onto the the 2x6 and pop!
Instant bead breaker!

Re: I Dumped My Bike! (VIDEO)
My 1500 is by far the heaviest bike I've ever owned. In the first few months of ownership, I must have dropped that bike six or eight times. The worst was turning around in my own driveway at crawl speed. The bike went down on it's right side and my right foot got trapped under the heat shield for t...

Re: SeaFoam Question
In the fuel, definitely.
When I got my 1500, it had been sitting for several years.
It wouldn't idle worth a darn.
A couple of cans of seafoam later, it idled perfectly, and still does.

You couldn't find something softer to hit?

Been there. Done that. My 1500 is by far the heaviest bike I've ever owned. (or will ever own!) When I first got it, I must have dropped it 6 times. Luckily, no damage to the bike or me. Riddle me this, Batman...
Around here in northern New Jersey, the roads are riddled with manhole covers. Even on recently repaved roads, the damned covers are often set an inch or so below road level. I have to ride like a drunken sailor to avoid them...WHAM!...there's another manhole cover, dammit!! So riddle me this.... Ho...

Re: What a nice 2000
Very nice!! I ride a '99 with 111,000 miles on it. Still rides like a new bike. I'll never understand how someone can pay big money for a bike like these and then never ride it. Your bike has traveled less than 500 miles a year since it was new. There is a guy near me who also has a 2000 model. His ...
