Re: All in all it was a good trip

My '81 1100 has just turned over 53,000 and except for the usual maintenance (tires, timing belt, repairs to PO's poor repairs, etc.) I love the bike. Took a short 2 day trip to the coast without highway pegs. Not recommended. But the ride was fantastic. Went down the Smith River which has some of t...

Too hard to replace the return throttle cable... The PO just snipped it off and prayed!

Re: Warm weather

the bike seemed so happy to start up and go.... It just seemed to wanta go man... Sure understand that, Beav. Tomorrow I start using my bike to commute to work. It's only about 18 miles each way. When I head home on the interstate it's hard to make that last exit instead of keeping on riding!...

Re: highway pegs

Never seen anythign but it would not be hard to make an "L" bracket to extend the pegs forward.. The pegs I bought from you do the job pretty well. I have had to play with them and find the right angle and location but I rode about 100 miles yesterday and my knees were okay. The ones you sent are l...

Re: Peoria, IL to Burlington, IA

I've made that drive in my cage a few dozen years ago. We were headed to Peoria from Burlington when my oldest was about 3 years when she started commenting in that cute childish voice "Lookit all da garbage!" After she repeated this about 3-4 times it dawned on me: she was seeing fields of new corn...

Re: Warm weather

I hate to be a party-pooper (not really!) but I put on 100+ miles this afternoon just because it was so nice! I think it was about 63 or so and mostly sunny but the wind was kinda gusty. Took a ride up into the mountains just to blow the cobwebs out and found that my cut-off road back home was still...

Re: Colorado to Northern California, down the coast

I might suggest you start your neck-craning just about 10 miles to the north of Crescent City. The Redwoods are HUGE along the road and it is sure to take your breath away. I have a friend that has a vacation home we can use occasionally about 25 miles north of there (just across the Oregon border) ...

Voyager Trike Kit

I was shopping at a local second hand store and found a used Voyager Trike kit that the owner was asking $999 for. It did not have the attachment points for my GW, but seemed to be in relatively good shape. My question for you, my esteemed colleagues, would this be a good purchase considering I woul...

The mind is a powerful thing, and I don't think anyone can explain or understand how it works. I had Cadillacs taken off both eyes about 8 years ago. Man,I wish I had done it sooner! Going from extreme near-sighted to slightly far-sighted (just need dollar store reading glasses) has been a wonderful adjustment! I can see! No more glasses on my drivers license!

Re: knee replacement

I just checked on the kickstand. Because it was a PO that put it on I have no idea who made it. It is not exactly like the the original on the left side. It doesn't have the rubber toe but everything else is similar except that it is built for the right side. No make or model numbers on it and it wa...

Hey Stuart, I know this is late (been following this thread from a distance, like once every 2 weeks) but a PO put a kickstand on the right side of my bike. Now I can get on and off from either side. Also nice if you want to park on a slight incline. I just pop the other stand out and don't worry ab...
