Re: Fork Oil

What weights of oil did you try, what didn't you like with the other weights and how did it affect your ride? What made you choose to go back to the ATF? Are you running progressive rate springs or do you have the standard springs installed? I tried 10w and 20w fork oils. Overall the ATF gave me th...

Re: Fork Oil

I tried several different weights of fork oil and ATF. I found ATF worked the best. When I did the test I expected one of the fork oils to come out on top but ATF was far superior.

My GL1200 had the same issue and it was the switch itself. A little cleaning and lube and was back to working fine. Just what I experienced

GL1500 left side squeak

I have a squeak on the left side of my GL1500 when the motor is running. The squeak has a rhythm that doesn’t change with the engine speed. It’s not very loud and hasn’t changed it two years or so. Any ideas?

Re: engine oil

You will get a million answers to this question. I use Mobile1 motorcycle oil. I used the diesel oils and they worked fine but I think it shifts better with the Mobile1. Whatever you chose will be fine and your motorcycle will run for hundreds of thousands of miles if maintained properly.

Re: Cold coolant leak saga...

I think a lot of 1500’s do this. Mine did this only when the temperature dropped close to freezing but only small amount and doesn’t continue. Seems like after you see the small drip you don’t see anymore until the weather warms up for awhile and drops again. In the warm weather there are no issues....

Re: My Wing won't start.

Check the No 6 vacuum tube on the left side. If it’s broken or disconnected your bike won’t start. They tend to break at the bend. If you look up how to synchronize your carbs this would be the vacuum line you disconnect and plug while doing the synchronization. If it’s rotten you could have easily ...

Re: so American politics

I think more and more people are having the same feelings. I always voted for the person not the party but after watching this circus my message to the politicians is I won’t stand for doing something just because of your party affiliation. I hope both sides get the message.

I'm using this oil now and works beautifully.
I use this also. My GL1500 likes it the best. I had clunky shifting with the diesel oils. Everything seems smoother.

My GL1200 ran best on diesel oil

Re: GL1200 vs. GL1500 Advantages?

I had a 1987 1200 which l loved until I found a great great deal on a 1998 1500. The deal was so good on the 1500 I was tempted to sell it and pocket the money. My 87 1200 was in great condition. I road both for a few years but found I was riding the 1500 more. It was bigger and heavier than the 120...

I see they have gone up since I bought mine a number of years ago. The ones you are looking at are pretty nice and I was happy enough with them. I never bought these ones but you might want to look at them also. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1984-2020-Honda-Goldwing-Gold-Wing-GL-1200-1500-1800-CHROME-GRI...

They are ok I had a set on my 1200 foe awhile. I switch them to the Kirkland ISO grips which I liked a lot better. I also put the ISO grips on 1500 when I purchased it because I liked then thst much.

Re: so American politics

I voted for Trump and would do so again. I don't expect other countries that are now being held to held to new better for the USA standards to like Trump. Agreed. Wonder how the naysayers will spin everything he has done as bad. Ole' "Ronald MacDonald Trump" does a pretty good job of that all by himself. He didn't even win with the most votes, he just did a better job of playing the electoral college. Not to mention Comey, who felt c...

Re: Am I the only one who doesn't like backrests

I ride without one. The only one I liked was the one mounted in my seat. It was easy to remove when I didn't want it and it fit in my trunk. It hit correctly on my lower back.

Re: First ride to work, first attempted homicide, against me

I won't ride to work anymore and it is getting to the point I am afraid to anytime. Over the past year I have been rear ended numerous times in my car while stopped in traffic. I had someone leave there lane and smash the side of my car. Every time I think what if I were on my motorcycle? I walked a...

Re: Most Desirable Year and Model

I had a 1987 1200A with all the known issues that cause the stator go bad corrected so never had a stator issue. I really liked the 1200 and would still have it if a great deal on a 1998 1500 came along. The 1500A has been reliable. I have had no issues so far. All the goldwings have their pro and c...
