Re: CB Cable for 1500

It's a long story but basically, I took her to a local bike shop & while there some parts came up missing & a bunch of stuff was disassembled. It was such a mess I decided to just buy another bike & use the old one for a donor. I'm thinking this is one thing I will have to let go of. I o...

Re: GL1500 Alternator Light

So I took the plunge & ordered LEDs for both of our wings & should be receiving them soon. In my correspondence with the gentleman who owns the company & does all of the work, he assured me that if anyone wants to order from him that he will custom program any desired limits for you at n...

Ultra1Plus Oils

I'm not trying to start a new oil debate thread here, I was just wondering if anyone has tried any of the Ultra1Plus oil products for their bike???? They have a dedicated motorcycle section on the website & have some weights that I have never seen before that all seem to have the correct JASO ce...

GL1500 Alternator Light

I have been looking for a way to put an alternator "idiot light" on my wings, but until last night came up empty-handed. My issue is that i have only a basic understanding of electronics & am afraid to try & build a "circuit." Last night I ran across a website that solves...

Silicone Radiator Hoses

I am looking at replacing the timing belts on our 2 GL1500's & was looking for parts. I figure I will need the belts, & possibly the tensioners. While I have all of the parts out I figured I would go ahead & change the thermostat & radiator hoses. I found some silicone hoses on eBay ...

Well guys, I stumbled on to a very nice looking, although expensive solution!!!! Check out the replacement radio at https://www.goldwing-sounds.com It appears to be a German site & you will need to translate the pages to be able to view them in English but as soon as I can get back to work from ...

Aux audio in????

Has anyone tried using USA Spec USA SPEC BT45-AUX Universal Application - Bluetooth Phone, Music Input kit with the aux input hack for a gl1500 radio to be able to use Bluetooth for music, voice calls, & voice command? I'm thinking it would theoretically work, you would just need a dummy cassett...

The CB Radio kit got here today. Looks like everything is there complete with a 9 page installation instruction sheet. I will get to installing it this weekend. I know this is a long shot, but could you send me a copy of the installation instructions? I am taking 2 bikes & combining them into 1...

Re: '94 Insterstate parts bike -- good donor for '89?

I believe they made several changes to the Wings after 1993. I bought an engine from a 97 for my 90 & there were so many differences that I gave up trying to modify things to make it work. I ended up buying another 90 model & took all of the chrome & other accessories & put them on t...

Re: GL 1500 Engine Fitment

It's been a while since my last post, so here is a bit of an update/question. I have the replacement motor ready to be installed. I have rebuilt the clutch, slave cylinder, installed new timing belts, thermostat, & plugs. Upon trying to re-install the new motor, we discovered a issue with the &q...

Engine Swap Help needed in Northeast Georgia

Right WingAdmin, I have thoroughly researched the issue & decided to go the way of buying a used 1999 engine. The noise was most prevalent on the center-stand when I rocked the bike forward, then it would sound as if were about to jump into gear with or without my wanting it to. I had an engine ...

GL 1500 Engine Fitment

I have not been very active on here, but I recently learned a lot of bad things were going on with my mechanic & I had to go & trailer my bike home today. He was supposed to be repairing my transmission...she is a 1990 & had developed the dreaded 4-5 gear shifter rattle problem. I now ha...

Re: Mechanic needed in Northeast Georgia

From all the research & troubleshooting I have done it is the dreaded fourth gear shift Fork worn out problem. It sounds like it wants to jump into gear when idling, especially when you have it on the center stand & rock it forward.

Yeah, most dealers either want an arm and a leg along with your 1st born, or they won't touch a bike that old!
