Re: Fuel injectors cleaning?

I've done the seafoam thing on several units and it just never worked and honestly once I pulled the pilot jet out and ran a wire through it. I don't see how seafoam could have dissolved the clog? Once everything is at least running then I agree seafoam or anything else helps alot. I think the only...

Agree with Mh434. Any alternator shop should have one in stock and can put it in for you.

Re: Fuel injectors cleaning?

Instead of pulling the injectors, put some fresh fuel in and use Sea Foam for a couple of tanks. Use 2 oz. per gallon and do it for a couple of tanks. The ECM reset as Keith has described is also a good idea. See if that works.

Re: Question for those who have installed LActrical alternators

I have a 1988 1500 with 44,000 mi. I put a LAlectric alternator on it. When idling it makes a knocking sound. Has anyone else had this happen? I put a LAlectric on my 88 and it did the same thing even with new dampers installed. My OEM alternator just needed cleaning so I put it back in. I had the ...

Re: what tire to buy

Did Avon re design the Cobra yet? My rear blew out at 70 mph due to the tire separating. It only had about 7 K miles on it. Tire pressure was at 41 and the bike was not overloaded. The front was fine, but I get much better millage with a Bridgestone 709 then I did out of the Cobra front. Because of ...

Re: Motorcycle Cover

I use a Ultraguard half cover when I travel. It has been a great cover for the past 4 years.

It can be very windy in SD. More than likely the bike would have been blown over with a half or a full cover!

Re: cleaning GL1500 Air compressor switches

I had the same problem with my 88. I tried to take the assembly apart, but the plastic is old enough and brittle, the holding tabs broke. I ended up getting a used one off E Bay and sprayed a bunch of CRC electrical contact cleaner in there to prevent the problem. So far so good. I would still try t...

Re: Vent hose

I remember having the same problem if the tube you're talking about is the one at the right side front of the bike tube that goes into the air cleaner base..... I had to remove the right side Tupperware off the fairing and then pull the right cooling fan (2 bolts but a tight fit) to put my hose bac...

Re: XM Radio Reception

The antenna on your 2012 is in the front of the bike under the front plastic just below the windshield. The radio is under the floor of the top trunk. When you open the trunk lid, you see the GPS. You have to remove the floor of the trunk and then you will find the radio. If you have a CB, it is loc...

Re: TPMS

I suspect it depends on how you have your tpms alarm settings setup. What do you run your tire pressures at cold? There are no alarm settings on a factory TPMS unit like there is on an aftermarket system. They are pre set and can not be changed. My 2012 did the same thing in the winter when I lived...

Re: XM Radio Reception

On your 2012, the radio is in the top trunk, not the fairing. Just the controls are in the fairing. An after market XM antenna is not plug and play for the Honda Radio. It will need some modification. Go to the GL1800Riders site. Do a search. There are all kinds of posts on changing the XM antenna. ...

Re: Re-building Calipers

When using a Mity Vac, you do not pull back the break lever. You hook up the vac, pump up some pressure on the vac, and open the bleeder. The fluid will be sucked out of the master cylinder fluid tank. Close the bleeder before you drain the tank and refill. Repeat if needed. Just make sure you do no...

Re: Trouble with carbs and vac lines, pics included

Hi Snowmoer, Thanks for the heads up on this! I was not able to locate the fuel lines on Partzilla, unless I am doing something wrong? Also where do i get the parts fiche for those metric sizes? I believe some one sent me the manuals by email once, but don't recall anything about parts fiche..... T...

Re: Trouble with carbs and vac lines, pics included

Just a heads up on all of the hoses on the carb. All of the vacuum hoses for that mater. They are metric . You will not find these at your local auto parts store. Non metric hoses are either just a little to big, or just a little to small. The big ones can cause a leak over time, and the small ones ...

Just keep an eye on E Bay. I lost both of mine because I forgot to put two bolts on the rear of the fender back in. I had to look for a few months, but a set in my color popped up and I grabbed them.

Re: Heated Seat on 2013 Gold Wing Level 3

He should not need a heated seat amplifier on a 2013. My 2012 will cook your rear off real quick on high. Sounds like there is something wrong with the heating element. Sorry, no help with what could be the problem.

Re: New to me 1999 GL1500 SE and no rear turn signals!

Congratulations on your new to you bike! I would first check to see if the bulbs are burned out. The fast flashing is an indicator of that. There is a little door on each corner of the top trunk to get access to them. If you have a test light or Volt meter, make sure you have power at the socket. I ...

Re: installing a power socket

I would only charge while the motor is running. Other than a phone, you run the risk of draining your bikes battery when charging something like a power pack when the bike is not running. The wings battery is not a high capacity battery. I hook my phone or tablet up in the morning before I leave my ...

Re: installing a power socket

What type of power socket do you want to install? I have a USB charging port installed in the top lid on my 2012. It was a kit from Electrical Connection and plugs into the factory harness that is in the top lid inside cover. For a cig lighter type plug, the pigtail method coming from under bottom f...

Re: Wiring for a trailerto pull with my 2009 Wing

I picked up my light harness from Electrical Connection. Very easy to install. Here is how I set up my plug. You can get a round 5 pin and do the same thing. I needed a 6 pin because my trailer has trailer brakes. This is on a 2012, but you could do the same thing on your 09. I put a pull apart plug...

Re: Avon Cobra, Dunlop Elite 4, other?

If you decide to put Avon Cobra's on, stay away from the radial rears. Your bike calls for bias ply anyway, but some people still put radials on a 1500. Unless Avon has fixed the problems with the radial Cobra's, they are prone to tread seperation. There are many posts about this and I am one of the...
