In search of a windshield
I'm freshening up a 2000 GL1500SE and am in search of a windshield. I've been a big fan of Cee Baily products for many years, but was saddened to find out that they have stopped producing items for motorcycles in order to concentrate their efforts on their aircraft business. So if anyone out there s...

Re: GL1800 cooling fan wiring modification kit
The last things that were done to the bike are a complete system flush with a commercial cooling system cleaner, then filled with fresh coolant. Also blew a fair amount of dirt and road crud out of the radiator, and verified that both fans were indeed working properly. At that point, the weather her...

Re: GL1800 cooling fan wiring modification kit
I don't know why Mother Honda had to screw with a system that worked just fine for 25 years with no issues. I'd like to know if it's feasible to wire up an 1800 to operate in the same manner as the previous models. I'd think that if the thermal switch operated in the same heat ranges, the fans come ...

Re: GL1800 cooling fan wiring modification kit
The issue is on an '03 that recently got triked. He's never had issues before (he's owned this for several years), but now that it's triked, I think it's working a bit harder. And he was pulling his camping trailer when this happened. The fans are currently working the way that they were designed (w...

Mufflers for a GL1500
I'm looking to replace the mufflers on my 2000 GL1500. My question is... Does anyone know if mufflers from a GL1800 will fit without much modification?

GL1800 cooling fan wiring modification kit
I've got a 2003 GL1800 with the dreaded engine temp. issue. I've been told that there is someone out there that developed a wiring harness to reverse the fan motors and add a switch to manually turn the fans on (or something to that effect). I've searched the web, but have been unable to find any in...

Re: Use an auto tire on the front wheel of a trike?
I've done many of these installations. The GL1800 and 1500 use the same size tire on the front. I've been using the Bridgestone BT-45 Battlax rear tire size 130/70-18 bias ply (Dennis Kirk $113.00). I know that guys are going to say that you should never run radial tires on the rear and bias on the ...

Re: Tow Pac help
Been that route. I knew that would be a long shot as each bike uses it own unique hitch. I've checked with several dealers with the same response, that being that "dealers don't stock parts". Some offered to contact Tow Pac but got the same response that I got ("we no longer offer hitch kits"). The ...

Tow Pac help
I recently purchased a used 2000 Gl1500 with a TowPac kit installed (or so I thought). It turns out that the previous owner bought the TowPac through ebay and did not realize that he did not get "EVERYTHING" (the main hitch that stays attached to the bike. Not knowing that, he took what he had purch...

Re: Antifreeze Leaking
Having it down as far as you do, it's a great time to do upgrades to the rear suspension ie: ss preload hose, fill and bleed all air from the system or replace worn components. These are all well documented problems, and several of us can help you out if you need help.

Re: Antifreeze Leaking
Those five band clamps are original, and that's where leaks commonly appear. You might be best off draining the system, disassembling and cleaning those connections and using some better clamps. As for pressurizing the system, some of the better auto parts stores have a free tool loaner program, as ...

Re: Escapade trailer issue
After speaking with CSC (Escapade) and doing a goggle search, it appears that this problem has happened to others, but by no means in large enough numbers to be alarming. CSC has made changes to this area in recent years to simplify production across all models according to them. I could upgrade min...

Re: Antifreeze Leaking
I doubt that you have a bad water pump. Most times it's just a loose clamp. It's a shame that so much has to be removed to get at them though. Do your homework, take pictures and take your time... You can do this! I made a cardboard diagram of where all of the removed screws and bolts go and poke ho...

Re: Antifreeze Leaking
The other area that I've seen hard to find leaks is behind the right side heat shield below the cylinder head. There are coolant hoses and clamps down there. If you have a belly pan installed, a leak in that area could easily drip onto the pan and find its way to the rear if the bike. Pull the belly...

Re: Antifreeze Leaking
Take a close look and make sure that you didn't snag the reserve tan and poak a hole in that. Usually if there is a leak that far back, it's from that tank. I probably change six or more of these tanks every season... it's that common. In most cases that I've seen, if there is a leak from the hoses ...

Re: GL1800 front brake drag
Did you clean the master cylinder and make sure that the relief hole is clear? The brake recalls have all been related to the rear brakes. They won't do anything with the front unless you request it. And don't forget the clutch system too. All of those fluids should be changed every TWO years... No ...

Re: Front fork lower allen bolt removal video
I find that it always works much easier if you remove that allen head bolt before removing the top fork cap (let the spring tension work to your advantage). And yes, a good quality impact gun helps. I always spend the extra 15 minutes and remove the fork tubes from the bike. It makes the whole job e...

Escapade trailer issue
Winter is here... We got our first snowfall of the year here in MI. last night. Boo-Hoo! I have a suspension problem with my Escapade trailer that I'd like to know if anyone else here has experienced. The 3/4" dia. stub spindle that the trailing arm attaches to snapped off approx. 1" inside of the t...

Re: GL1200 guidance from you electrical pros.
I had all of the plastic removed except for the fairing itself, so it was easy to check all of the connections and even tried another ignition switch. Narrowed it down to the pulse generators. Someone on another site explained how to test them. Ordered a new set from Partzilla, installed them, and a...

Re: GL1200 guidance from you electrical pros.
I had remembered that Honda had an ignition switch recall on some GL1200s, and I had an extra one so I plugged it in (without actually mounting though) without any difference. I'm going to test the pulse generators next. I've already cleaned up some bad connections at the starter relay/main fuse and...

GL1200 guidance from you electrical pros.
I'm dealing with an '86 Gl1200 asp. with an intermittent electrical problem. The bike will start right up and run just fine, then for no reason, acts like someone hit the kill switch. All of the lights remain on and without touching anything, you can hit the start button and it will fire right up an...
