Re: Sena CB adaptor for Goldwing

the issue is your looking at nearly $1000 if you want both you and the passenger to be wireless. I fitted one to my goldwing and it worked perfectly with everything (CB included) but my passenger stayed wired (she has her own bike and doesn't ride on the back of me very often) you need both an inter...

Re: Runs then dies but will restart....

In the past when this has happened to me, it has been either the spark plugs (one or more) failing when they get hot, or the CDI failing (including pickups) when it gets hot. Have you tried just changing all 4 spark plugs and see if that helps? Its pretty cheap and easy to do.

Re: Beware-credit card fraud

we recently had a similar issue, someone in California got our credit card number and spent $500 on various women's clothing and makeup items. fortunately we spotted it and stopped the card after just 6 purchases, the bank has reimbursed us and issued new credit cards, still have no idea how someone...

Re: Buying a GL1800

I think there where 3 major recalls for the models prior to 2006, the most critical that I recall is the frames where recalled for cracking, Honda had to dismantle the bikes and run a second bead of weld in several locations of the frame!! they then stamped a dot in the frame above the VIN number to...

Re: Battery Tenders

I am like all the above, everything with a battery is connected to a tender, as soon as I arrive home they are plugged in, then they might be used 10 minutes or 10 months later, they are connected all the time. My batteries have all lasted years (far longer than any battery that I have owned and not...

Re: Am I losing my mind? Or can fork seals be replaced without a snap ring retainer?

I am 100% sure there is meant to be a snap ring above the fork seal on both forks!! I suspect a previous owner/mechanic failed to put one in, but how the seal did not get blown out amazes me!! Unless you are not running any fork oil in that leg then it wouldn't blow the seal out, but the internals w...

Re: Rear shock height

Exactly as the viking suggests.. I fitted the traxxion spring (less than $100) and it raised the rear just over an inch, made it much easier to put on the stand, significantly improved the handling and increased ground clearance when cornering.. A superb improvement with lots of bonuses and all for ...

Re: HELP. Really low oil level after a ride

First thing is to add more oil and get the level to the correct level. I would then be looking for external leaks, if it was burning that much oil I think you would see plenty of smoke, so I suspect the level was probably low before you started your ride. If after filling the oil level, you see it d...

Re: Can beads put a tire out of balance

the only way the beads can mess up the balancing is if you have slime or other liquid inside the tyre that causes the beads to stick together, then the balancing can go out, but you are NOT suppose to use beads with any liquid sealant inside the tyre. Just make sure you don't have a sealant inside t...

Re: Counteract or Dyna Beads and Avon trike tire?

I have run both ceramic and metal balls to balance my wheels, both seemed to work equally well, but I had no TPMS to worry about. I slightly preferred the metal balls as everything seemed clean when I changed the tyres, the ceramic beads seem to generate a lot of fine dust as you use them and I didn...

Re: Halogen turn signal question

As stated by Dave, only the front bulbs are running lights and indicators and have twin filament bulbs. The rear use a single filament bulb, sounds like you have a twin filament bulb in there, normally you can’t put a twin filament bulb in a single filament mount, they are different to prevent this ...

Re: replacing timing belts

I would suggest getting coolant, you need to drain the cooling system to get the belt covers off, rather than reusing the old coolant I would suggest putting in new coolant and change your oil and oil filter whilst your at it.. It's quite an easy task mechanically, but it can be a bugger getting to ...

Re: Needing opinions on engine issues

As wingadmin states fit new belts (Gates are only about $15 each on Amazon) and then try it. Also as stated the heads might be repairable (could be cheaper than buying new heads of unknown status from eBay!). The timing belts are really the only big risk, if they break you risk serious damage to the...

Re: How Do I Set Timing with Electronic Ignition?

CDI stands for Capacitive Discharge Ignition, its a generic term for an electronic ignition unit.. Sorry for the confusion!! I believe the Dyna unit does NOT use points but either an optical or an inductive pickup, so the static timing cannot be set with a simple light bulb, you need a strobe light ...

Re: How Do I Set Timing with Electronic Ignition?

As stated, you will need an electronic strobe light to check the ignition, there really is no other way to check it, but even with a strobe light you need the CDI instructions as it will be required to check the timing at a specific set of conditions (certain engine speed, etc). First thing is to id...

Re: 2010 GoldWing ?? TPMS

If the TPMS light on the dashboard is not lighting up, I suspect the TPMS is fitted and the shop that changed your tyres just didn't notice it as it is part of the inflation valve assembly. It is easy to see, but maybe their tech wasn't paying attention and just missed it?

Re: RADIO ANTENNA

Yes, the OEM ones have a metal collar at the bottom of the antenna (where it mounts to the top case), You pull the collar upwards (you might have to unscrew it first, its been a long time since I needed to lower my antenna) and the antenna will then fold forwards or backwards.
