2008 Toy Hauler 20'

I bought a 2008 Forest River 20 LK toy hauler just to store my wing. I now have more toys then it will hold. Stove, Oven & Shower has never been used and I never hauled it any place. Like new condition, paid over 22k new and selling for 11k. Particulars on Craigslist at http://maine.craigslist.o...

Re: Navi updates 2006 gl1800

I've worked on this issue for a long time. Bottom line, if you want everything to work you must buy the upgrade from Garmin. The firmware upgrades will work if you get them from other members but the map upgrades have an issue with POI's not working if you don't buy from Garmin. I am running firmwar...

Re: 2015 Goldwing (40th Anniversary) disappointment

I will turn 100,000 miles on my '06 soon and have always said this is probably my last Wing. Next bike will most likely be another brand unless Honda does some big upgrades to the electronics and gets rid of those ugly rear bags.

Re: Whining

My '06 whines sometimes so bad it makes me want to trade. But at times you cannot hear it at all. Not sure what it is. I always thought it was the timing chain but if it were others would have confirmed that by now. I have over 98,000 miles on her now and I just put up with it. I have always owned W...

Re: 2015 Honda Goldwing

My daughter bought one of the first 2,500 Spyder's when released. She still has it and likes it but she does not ride it much. Think she puts maybe a thousand miles a year on it. Me, I hate it. It seems to find every bump in the road and going around corners is not fun do to the opposite way you nee...

Re: The End of the CF Carded GPS NAVI Saga

themainviking, are you saying you get insufficient memory error? I got these with the purchase of the 20011 maps and firmware from Garmin. Let me know if you found it is the firmware and not the new map size that is causing your problem. thanks

Re: Tire air PSI thoughts?

I agree with why such a high PSI? If you want to sacrifice ride for tire longevity then that is your choice. I run 41 front and back and do believe I should go back to 36 front. I run that PSI (41) in front for tire wear. But it does make the tire have that middle strip wear. When I had 15k on my fr...

I'm sure you can find the part on the Honda Schematic. Just go to Bike Bandit or Direct Line parts and surf to the schematic.

Re: Heated seats/grips update, still baffling

I heard about shutting down depending temp outside but mine does not do that. In fact my seat gets so hot after a few minutes on max I turn it down to 1 then after 10 minutes or so just shut it off because it gets too hot for me. Then I do not use it again. Seems to stay hot. Now wife always has her...

Re: Heated seats/grips update, still baffling

Honda replaced my entire wire harness on my '06. But that did not fix the heater issue. They finally replaced the grips and it has been working fine for 7 years now. Sure is frustrating when things don't work as they should. I never thought the heat in the seat was sufficient. But when I had the sea...

2015 GoldWing

Just read a CycleWorld article that stated it will just have some 40th anniversary badging, foot warmers and a little plastic change to highlight the engine. Glad to hear it. I won't have to have a new one. Oh and of course price hike http://www.cycleworld.com/2014/09/04/2015-honda-gold-wing-40th-an...

Re: On my 2007 GL 1800, what is the best way to change a hea

I have changed several and it is a PITA. I just use my hand. Easy to get out I just have a hard time getting it back in (no wise cracks needed). Once you release the clip it just comes out. Watch the orientation of the bulb when you take it out so you know how to orient it when putting back in. Just...

Re: new seat needed....what years

Just send it to American Cushion. They redid mine and I love it as others do also. The heat even works way better. Someone suggested it is the denser foam affecting the heat. I know it worked better when the wife mentioned it first time she turned it on.

My '06 does it every now and then. No worry on my part. Maybe dirt? Pads are fine on my bike also.

Problem is you cannot get ABS without the GPS unless Honda changed that since '06.

Re: Goldwing Navigation System - to update or NOT to update.

Not sure what maps you are using but I downloaded 2014.1 maps a year ago and they worked in my '06 with firmware 4.7. As I stated before, if you do not buy the update from garmin and use other maps, the POI's will not work. But I never used POI's anyway. I running the maps on a 2gb cf card.

Re: Goldwing Navigation System - to update or NOT to update.

If by details you mean the POI's and if the maps are not directly from Garmin that makes sense. You can load NT maps that are not bought from Garmin but the POI's will not work. Believe me, I have fooled with is stuff for a long time. I do nave the 4.7 firmware but went back to my 2011 maps I bought...

This is one maintenance I will not attempt. I had mine checked at 80k and they were all within speck. The mechanic/owner of the shop said he would not check them again. So don't get all wrapped up in having to check them. Of course, maybe I was lucky. He charged me 190 since not adjustment was neces...

Get over it. The US Wing does not have a flash to pass. I don't need it and there are so many other things on the Wing that could be improved that are more important. Like GPS on the fly, change the headlight adjustment on the current models to work on the fly etc...

Re: Goldwing Navigation System - to update or NOT to update.

Gps is good for long slab trips but the wife and I still prefer maps. There are not many trips that are planned without deveating from the proposed path. And the screen does not show what a map shows (overall view of the state/area). At least the OEM nav does not.
