Re: Coil wire problems

Right feel we getting somewhere now. Ran test light from live on battery. Touched on each of the dyna s leads. One flashes when turning over. The other dead. The blue/yellow wire from one of coils has power at coil end but not at dyna end. Could it be a corroded wire has caused the module to pack up...

Re: Coil wire problems

Thanks again Maz. My dyna s dosent have a box with leds. It has the two modules that are on back plate. A live feed to both modules that clips to the turn signal constant live at relay. Then 2 more wires go to yellow and blue wires that go to coils. I bought this new a couple of years ago. That and ...

Re: Coil wire problems

Thank you Maz. So if i disconnect the blue wire to coil from dyna s . Should that then be constant live also then?
And as the dyna s has a live feed to it. Should i then get a pulse from the two dyna s wires that are disconnected? Got a bit of smoke coming out me ears with this on lol.

Does anyone know anything about clutches???

Hi all I've just got my 1977 gl1000 back up and running due to a topic I posted a few weeks ago. I got alot of good suggestions and she's running great. Only problem now is my clutch is slipping really bad. I have the right oil in it. Changed couple of weeks ago. And I fitted new set of heavy duty e...

Re: High end clatter

That's good advice bustedwing. Il make sure I run some additive through it before I stand her for the winter. Don't want to spend half my summer cleaning and moaning like have done this year.
Thanks for that.

Re: High end clatter

Hi all Just wanted to say thank you for all your suggestions. The in fuel additive/carb cleaner,Red X has solved my clattering. I've been out and up to the coast today( about 45miles) and she didn't clatter once. Throttle response is awesome!! So much power! I had only run half a tank with additive ...

Re: High end clatter

I've already tried it standing and reving it. It only seems to be while its under load . When sitting , it's fine. Can rev it up lovely. Just when in gear and moving. A real puzzler hey?

Re: High end clatter

Hi
I checked all valves and they are all set ok. I didn't need any adjustment this time. I've not had a chance to go for a ride since my last post due to the pants weather we are getting at moment. Meant to be sunny at weekend though so il go for it then . Thanks.

Re: High end clatter

Thanks very much for your thoughts and advice. I've been and bought an in fuel mixer designed for carb and injector cleaning. It's called Red X . Il try a couple of tanks with that mixed in and then few tanks of fresh and see where we are then. Will be back on here once this has been done and let yo...

Re: High end clatter

I've just done the tests. All cylinders read 150psi and wet test is 165psi I'm guessing that's ok as they all the same give or take 1 psi . I've narrowed that noise to either #1 or #3 carb area. As I rode down a quiet road bobbin me head down each side for a listen. Could it be an air jet blocked? O...

Re: High end clatter

Sorry, I've just read your message again. What's difference between a wet and a dry test? All I have is a push on and twist compression tester. Is dry with throttle shut? And wet with it open?

Re: High end clatter

It's only happening when the engine is at the top of rev range while under load . I will do a compression test today and see what I'm up against. All my vacuums seemed fine and the same as each other on the sync . Il post me findings a bit later on thanks .

High end clatter

Hi all Well! I have a GL1000 1977 and I've got her running sweet as a nut. Only problem is that I have a sharp quick clatter when I'm peaking through every gear?? It sounds like its coming from my carbs rather than the block area. Does anyone have a clue what this could be? I don't seem to be able t...

Re: All that glitters ain't oil!!!

Hi its done nearly 49000 and gets an oil change every year as its a trike and I don't ride it as much as I'd like to due to the rubbish British weather. It has no knocks. But was runnin a bit rough as I had a couple of float valves leaking. Filled crankcase up with petrol. I had it running just long...

All that glitters ain't oil!!!

Hi all. I think I know the answer to this but could do with some input. Did an oil change on my gl1000 and noticed in bottom of drain tray a bit of gold coloured metal residue. Is this a completely knackered engine now, or is there anything I can do to fix this as I don't know where it's from? Guess...

Re: GL1000 Cold front manifold runners???

Problem well and truly solved! Thanks. I did notice during oil change that there was a slight glitter to it which prob means some damage has been done in the engine. Il pull the engine out in winter and overhaul if poss. But for now shel do.

Re: GL1000 Cold front manifold runners???

Just adding that I have done an oil and filter change also due to the amount of petrol going in to the crankcase.
