Re: Coolant Leaking out of cap

Take a look at the old cap gasket, I tried putting new cap on and it leaked. I found out that the new cap gasket was just a little smaller then old cap. Put old cap on and no leak.

Re: GL1100 Audio System

Received this Radio yesterday from Trike Lady and want to say thank you. My wing never had a radio installed in it before and after looking at a installion manual it looks like a lot of work to do and other parts needed. I am going to put it back on this site to see if anyone else could use it for t...

Re: Fork spread

Will I got the new tire mounted up and while I had the tire off replaced bearings and dust seals. What I thought was the forks spreading apart was having the front tire off the ground and having the shaft clamp off on one side off wheel and the other side loose as I loosen axle nut I think it was ti...

Re: Fork spread

I will not have to spread forks apart to remount wheel I will have to have to draw them in toward wheel when I tighten axle bolt. I did not have any movement when the front end was together. It was only when I started to loosen axle to remove wheel that they spread apart as I loosen axle nut. This w...

Re: Fork spread

Thanks for the reply Virgilmoble, now if there is supposed to be zero spread when loosing the axle nut what would cause this to happen? They spread aprat about a 1/2", not sure if one fork moved or if they both moved. I know when I put the front tire back on that it will draw it back together and mo...

Fork spread

I decided it was time for a new front tire on my 1980 Gold Wing, I read the how to first and began the procedure. Everything went good but as I loosen the axle nut I noticed that the forks started to spread apart. My question is how much should they spread apart and is this normal? The two other bik...

First ride, Last ride.

Got out for the first ride of the year today, but it will be the last ride of the year for this bike. Sold my 1977 Suzuki GS550 and had to ride one more time before my son took it home with him. Just wish it would get a little warmer to get the Wing out for the first ride of the year and hopefully m...

Re: GL1100A Head oil seal R/Hand rear end

If you are talking about where the tach cable goes in down by the fuel pump there is a small shaft seal there. I had oil leak in that area on my 1980 GL1100, replaced the seal no more oil leak.

I can relate to you two also I got my 1980 GL1100 a couple of months ago also. It rides so much better then my GS550. I only have put on a little over 1000 miles so far, but we still have time to ride before the white stuff comes.

I have had my Wing for about a month and half now and been checking fuel mileage. I am getting about 38 MPG with all around riding. Is this about average for this bike?
