Re: Mirror glass removal

Hopefully I understand the question, but if you want to remove the mirror glass assembly the screw is underneath the mirror glass itself. So your kind of stuck removing that glass, unscrew it then you can remove the black plastic assembly. Its not a prefered design. And I hadn't heard of heating the...

Re: Avon Cobra, Dunlop Elite 4, other?

I kind of recall Metzler used to be an option, not sure if they still are. Didn't they make 880's or something that fit on goldwings. And I thought some people were running Shinko's as an economical option. And I didn't get to try them personally but I sort of recall Michelin Pilot GTs or something ...

Good looking bike. My fixit list was about as long as yours. Well worth the effort. Some stuff needs replacing, others just checking. Hope your project goes well. :)

Re: Avon Cobra, Dunlop Elite 4, other?

My bike came with E3s that i replacex with Avon Venoms that i really liked. Running Avon Cobras now and they are good too. Good grip, good in rain, doesnt chase tar snakes like the Dunlops tended to do and they are quiet.

Its a big job but you dont have to remove the gas tank. Had to remove both mufflers, crossover, heatshields and right exhaust header.

Re: '95 GL1500 SE clutch hose R&R

Sounds like its going very smoothly your half way there. Using the string works pretty good. Taking the old line out your mainly pulling and guiding that line with your hands. Installing using the string is a combination of pulling on the string a little and pushing the new line thru with the other ...

Re: '95 GL1500 SE clutch hose R&R

OEM line was combination of rubber and steel. If i had to do it again I'd just go with a braided ss line. They arent too expensive.

Re: Doug's Winter Maintenance Begins

I have an 18mm deep but it doesn't have the rubber stopper, maybe I can put some blue paper towels in to protect the end :?: I have a modulator on my Magna and love it, I really think it has stopped cars from turning across my path. I've got my wife talked into letting me change the headlight(s), c...

Re: Doug's Winter Maintenance Begins

...That is probably the one size I don't have. That always the way... b0236.gif Changed my plugs and pretty sure I used a regular deep well 18, nothing special. Changing the coolant isn't that bad of a job on a 1500 goldwing. One of my projects this winter is changing out the hoses. Its a pretty go...

Re: How Are These Held On the Screw Head

Like the gluedots suggestion. it hard to see clearly but I think that might be the correct screw in the photo but its just not clear enough. Caps are just friction fit and worry me about falling off. Considered silicon but those gluedots sound like better idea. Finding the right color for both sides...

Re: Death wobble almost killed me!

I've experienced a minor death wobble after just getting the bike.......it does get your attention. Just curious, does the after market front end brace(bracket) from Blackwing help to reduce this problem? Yep it could help reduce the problem. But its likely that there could be other issues that are...

Re: Cracked Panel

I have a 1998 1500 GL GOLDWING Aspencade that was recently vandalized. The left side Shelter Panel(where CB radio and air vent is) was kicked or punched and is cracked in 3 places. Problem is the body shop that I took it to has tried many places to get a replacement and have been unsuccessful. Does...

Re: Resurrecting Grandpa's Wing

My Granddad said when he put it on it was a bit of a learning curve. Ran a few parking lot sessions to get used to it. He added it when he got unsure of his knees riding two up. PA actually has a 3 wheeled motorcycle license endorsement, my license supersedes that, but they have a training course s...

I think I am going to put the sidecar back on in the spring.
Was surprised at how different riding a sidecar rig could be. Challenging to learn but a lot of fun. You'll probably enjoy it. It's a little tricky to switch back to a regular bike, at least for me it is.

Re: Resurrecting Grandpa's Wing

Grips were fallin off my bike when i bought it as well. I went with iso grips. They came with some kind of adhesive.

I'm wondering if your going to ride it with the sidecar. Only ask because I've been riding a sidecar rig the past couple months. :)
