Re: Fork Seal Repacement

When taking the caps off the forks. How much spring pressure is against the cap? It depends. Are the springs original or aftermarket? How old are they? How much load have they been carrying over their lifetime? So there's no good answer. It could be anywhere from 20 to 120 lbs...or more. WOW!!! I l...

Re: Key can be removed from ignition while bike is running

Hi all. Since I had the bike, the key can pulled out of the ignition regardless of whatever mode it's in. However, the key works fine on the luggage and false tank locks. I had a new key cut which didn't solve the ignition problem and it didn't work on the other locks. I would like to keep everythi...

Re: Need Help Replacing My Starter.

Just a update on my starter replacement on my 82 Goldwing. All I can say is easy peasy! Came out no probem and the replacement went back in no problem. My only question is. Has anyone ever had to replace the ring gear where the starter spline slides into?

Re: Need Help Replacing My Starter.

You may have to remove the shift lever to facilitate starter removal. Mark the lever position before you remove it, makes it a lot easier to install correctly. Excellent how to from this site: http://goldwingdocs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=259 Regards, Johnny Perfect!!! I was looking for that a...

I love winter and putting the bike a way for awhile. Gives me a chance to do some much needed maintenance on the bike.

Re: Drain carbs for winter storage, or just add Stabil and keep carbs full?

All I know is that Ethanol gasoline is the worst thing you can put into a bike. When I park my bike for the winter,I put in a full tank of gas and stabil. I run it for a few and shut it off as well as turn the gas off. This spring I went to clean my fuel filter I couldnt get the fuel line off of the...

Re: EVER PARKED AND WORKED YOUR WING OUTSIDE?

There are motorcycle garages for trikes that you could work in and protect your bike during the winters and summer. Get the trike size to have room on the sides to walk around and work on it. Some have hard plastic floors. I never knew that. I was thinking of getting a tent like a carport size. Ill...

Re: Its That Time Of Year Again

Yeah it's that time of year that I won't sweat out a gallon of water on a trip across town! Not time to put the bike away around here. Rode in a moderate rain yesterday and last night went to a orchestra concert where my daughter is 1st chair cello. When we left it was 59 deg F, so a little chilly ...

Its That Time Of Year Again

Its that time of year again. When the snow is flyin and the temperature is dropping. The time to ponder the year of great rides on the bike. Traveling around the countryside taking in all the scenery listening to the sound of the engine running like a sewing machine, and the wind blowing in my face. ...

Re: Battery Maintainer

The bike's now in the garage. Someone said I should put a battery maintainer on it. We get some awfully cold weather here in the winter (20 to 30 below F), so usually I just take the battery right out & keep it in the warm house. It's only got 1/2 tank, so I need to put some stabilizer in, fill it ...
