Re: Bags won't open

I would think that the Previous owner may have taken it apart because something was not working correctly and when he reassembled it, it still didn't work so he added the outside latch to get by. there are a couple of posts on here that go into detail about the proper assembly procedures to make it ...

Put a little double sided Gorilla Tape between the housing and the bar. That should remedy the looseness.

Re: Cannot locate coolant leak

Take the radiator cap with you and go to a local auto parts store that loans tools and borrow (leave deposit) a radiator pressure tester and make sure that you have the right size adapter for your cooling system. Make sure your radiator is full up to the neck and attach the pressure tester. Pump the...

Re: center stand

Sounds like a previous owner may have replaced the rear shocks with longer ones, or rebuilt the front forks and didn't get the fork tubes all the way back up into the triple tree before tightening them. Probably not a problem if it still sits up solid on the center stand. Russell If I don't do Faceb...

It's not a Harley. You don't need threadlocker at all. The Goldwings don't vibrate enough need anything more than Proper torque.

Re: Rear armrest replacement covers

I'm not sure but, I think the rear armrests are aftermarket add on accessories. You might find a local upholsterer that could match the fabric and recover them 'on the side' when they are a little slow on business, for a small price. I had a local one here that would help out with things like that. ...

Re: Replacing a couple of the relays in relay box left side

How about if you use a couple of wooden house door shims, one above and one below, and tap them just a little bit under the body to spread it out just a bit. Not enough to damage anything but it looks like it wouldn't take much to give you the room you need. And then you could trim just a little off...

There are emergency releases for them inside the trunk. Open the trunk, on the bottom of it you'll see two plastic circles about an inch in diameter, one on each side. Pry up the circle (it's a plug) and there will be a hole left in the bottom of the trunk. Push your finger down into the hole and pr...

If you have the ignition switch and lock cylinder out of the bike take it to a locksmith and for a few dollars they will make a new key for you and you won't then have need to hotwire it.

Sounds like a bad battery. It should maintain power and not drop as you indicate. Power level should be still over 12 V with the key on run. Take the battery to a local auto parts store and have it 'Load Tested' to see if it is any good, first. Then check again with a good battery. Russell If I don'...

It's just a simple 'roll pin'. Go to your local hardware store or auto parts store and see if they can match one up for you. While you're at it put some dielectric grease on every connector you plug in to keep moisture out and therefore no corrosion and resistance on the connectors.

You have to remove both coil pack mounting bolts and then push the coil pack down enough to remove the coolant reservoir. Then you can pull the coil pack up where you can work with it. But don't replace one coil. Replace all three of them. The other two are as old as the one that has gone bad. I jus...

Remove the lower fairing with the lights in them. The relays are on each side of the frame just above the lights. As I recall you can remove the green wire from the relays on both sides to make the lights stay on. Use a small jeweler's screwdriver to release the green wire terminal in the connector ...

I had the same exact thing with my 92 Interstate.
