NO!!! That's what they make Harleys for.

Re: Running rough at idle

I had a similar problem with my 86 Aspencade. I found that the right front carb wasn't getting any fuel. I removed them and cleaned this carb and for a short time it ran great. But, that didn't last long and back to the problem. After two removals I came to the conclusion that the float valve was st...

Simple solution: If you want a crotch rocket, buy a crotch rocket and sell the fine Goldwing.

Re: Installed shifter brace, what a difference!

Why wouldn't you want the shifter shaft to rotate arount the axis if the shifter shaft, instead of around an axis that is 29mm from the C/L of the shifter shaft? Because there is a secondary shifter shaft that is ofset from the main shifter shaft by 29mm which causes an offset pressure on the shift...

Re: Bulb for curb light

I modified my cornering lights. I originally ordered extremely bright white LEDs for my tail lights and then learned from WingAdmin about the proper color of LEDs. So, I ordered red ones for the tail lights and used the white ones for the cornering lights. I have them set for the lower brightness wh...

Re: Dash lights stay on when key in "lock" position

So, if you turn the key only two clicks to the left,(off but not locked) do the lights still stay on? If they do I would think you have a sticking relay. If they go off at that point, I would think that maybe you have defective ignition switch. One more click to the left and the lights should be on ...

Re: Hard Starting Cold

An easy fix for this has been described in various threads, find the black/white wire feeding the ECU and coils. Clip this wire, and use it to trigger a relay instead of feeding the ECU and Coils. Run a direct line (fused) from the battery thru the relay contacts to feed the ECU and coils directly ...

Re: Hard Starting Cold

I have been riding this bike for about five years and have never used a battery tender on it. It has always started right up, even first start in the morning. I just push the choke down, turn the throttle a couple of times, and press the start button. It would be running in less than five seconds. B...

Re: What would you stick in here?

I think I might put a volt meter on one side and a weather proof power outlet on the other side to charge cell phone. The power outlet would be more convenient than in the fairing pocket.

Hard Starting Cold

OK. . . My 92 Goldwing Interstate has, over the past couple of months, gotten very hard to start when cold(first start in the morning). I can crank, and crank, and crank for about two minutes and run a nearly new battery down too low. Then I jump it off with my truck and after about ten minutes it w...

Re: Ignition key

I think I remember paying about $5.00 each but these replacements keys are not HONDA keys. If you have the original key they can PUNCH a new generic replacement key which should be exactly the same cut as the original was when it was new. The code on the key will allow them to copy, precisely, the o...

Re: Parts interchangeable ?

Maybe you should consider using the Interstate for parts to fix the SE. You would probably have to change the complete engine to get the reverse and then you would have to change the wiring harness, instrument panel, radio and probably several other accessories to make everything operate correctly. ...

Re: Ignition key

If you have an original key you can take it to a locksmith and they can 'punch out' a new one from the number on the key shank, (a three digit figure), like my 62 Aspencade, "D32". I had a new generic blank key punched out perfectly in about 3 minutes. It took the HD75 blank. Russell Those who say i...

Try ebay. Search for 'GL1500 chrome exhaust'. There are several sets of extensions there but, give no measurements.

Re: 2000 GL1500 SE air duct seals

You don't have to remove the dash to get to the fuel tank. LOL. But as Erdeniz said you should probably find that foam seal material in a roll at your local home improvement store. I think that all the ducts will have that same seal material around them. Russell Those who say it cannot be done shoul...

Re: GL1500 SE radio on 1992 Interstate.....

I haven't tried that on mine because even if you could make it play you wouldn't have any display, which on the Interstate is on the face of the radio and the Aspencade and SE is in the digital display on the instrument panel, so you wouldn't know what station you're on. Even at that I don't think t...

Re: 1995 Just died going down the road

If you are wondering about your Bank Angle Sensor, just stop at your local Honda shop and have them run your VIN to find any record of having been done. If it hasn't been replaced they will order one and change it out for you at no charge. It is a safety issue and if the bike is still on the road it...

Re: FUEL PUMP

Not too sure about the GL1800 but it sounds like maybe a connector with some corrosion causing resistance which would give you a lower voltage under load. I would check all the wiring connectors from the ignition to the fuel pump. And every connector you unplug, add a little dielectric grease to inh...

Re: chrome side covers

To help your stator endure, change ALL your lights to LED. That will decrease the load on the system and make your stator last longer, not to mention less draw on your (AGM) battery.

Re: Heel/Toe Shifter

I've never personally seen one but, you could find someone that is good at fabrication, get them to measure the area for the shifter and observe you sitting on the bike, shifting the gears and fabricate one from an old shifter. It shouldn't be very hard to build one. Then have it powder coated for a...
