Re: Ignition key

I think I remember paying about $5.00 each but these replacements keys are not HONDA keys. If you have the original key they can PUNCH a new generic replacement key which should be exactly the same cut as the original was when it was new. The code on the key will allow them to copy, precisely, the o...

Re: Parts interchangeable ?

Maybe you should consider using the Interstate for parts to fix the SE. You would probably have to change the complete engine to get the reverse and then you would have to change the wiring harness, instrument panel, radio and probably several other accessories to make everything operate correctly. ...

Re: Ignition key

If you have an original key you can take it to a locksmith and they can 'punch out' a new one from the number on the key shank, (a three digit figure), like my 62 Aspencade, "D32". I had a new generic blank key punched out perfectly in about 3 minutes. It took the HD75 blank. Russell Those who say i...

Try ebay. Search for 'GL1500 chrome exhaust'. There are several sets of extensions there but, give no measurements.

Re: 2000 GL1500 SE air duct seals

You don't have to remove the dash to get to the fuel tank. LOL. But as Erdeniz said you should probably find that foam seal material in a roll at your local home improvement store. I think that all the ducts will have that same seal material around them. Russell Those who say it cannot be done shoul...

Re: GL1500 SE radio on 1992 Interstate.....

I haven't tried that on mine because even if you could make it play you wouldn't have any display, which on the Interstate is on the face of the radio and the Aspencade and SE is in the digital display on the instrument panel, so you wouldn't know what station you're on. Even at that I don't think t...

Re: 1995 Just died going down the road

If you are wondering about your Bank Angle Sensor, just stop at your local Honda shop and have them run your VIN to find any record of having been done. If it hasn't been replaced they will order one and change it out for you at no charge. It is a safety issue and if the bike is still on the road it...

Re: FUEL PUMP

Not too sure about the GL1800 but it sounds like maybe a connector with some corrosion causing resistance which would give you a lower voltage under load. I would check all the wiring connectors from the ignition to the fuel pump. And every connector you unplug, add a little dielectric grease to inh...

To help your stator endure, change ALL your lights to LED. That will decrease the load on the system and make your stator last longer, not to mention less draw on your (AGM) battery.

Search for 'GL1500 cb'. There are many listings for other stuff. Just keep scrolling. You'll find them. Mostly about $100 to $200. I just looked and there were about a half dozen, various conditions/prices on the first 3 pages. Some state for parts only but, you would have to communicate with the se...

Re: Heel/Toe Shifter

I've never personally seen one but, you could find someone that is good at fabrication, get them to measure the area for the shifter and observe you sitting on the bike, shifting the gears and fabricate one from an old shifter. It shouldn't be very hard to build one. Then have it powder coated for a...

Don't forget to put a fuse inline on the battery (+) wire just off the battery so as to protect the electrical system in case of short circuit.

The fuel passes through carb #3 to get to carb #1. I had a problem with carb #1 and I took both right side carbs off several times to clean and adjust. And put a little dielectric grease into the connector to keep moisture from causing oxidation/corrosion and another bad connection. Use this every time you reconnect 'any' connector.

Re: #3 & #4 plugs no fire

Was it the spark plug wires that you changed from 1/2 to 3/4? If you changed the spark plug wires between coils and the dead cylinders moved from 3/4 to 1/2, as unlikely as it seems, you may have two defective spark plug wires. If the dead cylinders moved with the wires, that suggests that the coils...

Re: KILL SWITCH

If yours, like my 92 GL1500 Interstate, is shutting down like that you will probably find that many miles and years of vibration at the handlebar will/can cause the screw terminals under the kill switch to loosen and then you won't have power to the ignition or fuel pump. Two screws under the switch...
