Re: 1986 SEI

I'm not sure about your model but I lost spark and fuel on my 92 GL1500 because of a loose connection on the kill switch on the handlebar. Never had that problem on my 86 Aspencade, carburetor, though. Check to see if you have 12V+ power on the kill switch and power from there to the ECM. Russell Th...

Re: Broken studs on side panel

Nice job with the repair. If the other missing one is on the front top corner you sill find that one is a grommet and the stud is steel and mounted on the frame. I had the lower one, like you fabricated, break off and still was in the grommet. I pulled it out and glued it back in place with ABS ceme...

Re: Darkside: No Taxi Tire...now what?

I've got an almost new Austone tire that I'm selling for $7500 - it's attached to my 1994 GL1500SE sidecar rig... Seriously??? Nobody's going to pay that much for a tire. You can buy a whole bike for that much. Russell Those who say it cannot be done should try not to interrupt those who are doing ...

Re: What LED Headlight Have You Used?

IMG_1038.JPG IMG_1039.JPG How about these H4s? No cooling fans, power units, or anything else to have to 'shoehorn' into place. Direct replacement. I have only had them in my Wing for a couple of months so not much night riding yet with them but they are really bright. Twelvolt LED & HID in Orange ...

Yes, he stands behind his products but, I am not sure of his warantee since I haven't had any problems with his products yet. He is a really good guy to deal with for any kind of LEDs you want to install.

Re: Major headlight problem...Now fixed (more or less!)

I replaced mine with these and they seem to be extremely bright and are a direct replacement for the H4 OEM units. I have only had them installed for a couple of months so I have limited night use on them but, so far I am quite satisfied with them. I purchased them from a local LED company here in O...

Re: Is Limited Edition GL1500 a Canadian Version?

Seen them Canadian key blanks on Ebay. If you look, you can even find key or lock smiths that cut them from the key #. I had two cut for mine a short while back, work PERFECT. Not sure about those with Canadian emblem, but generally there are two types '88-'97 keys, Type 1 and Type 2, relates to cu...

Re: Rattling in cylinder

But, how can one of those screws get through the screen to the intake? They are above the screen and would not be able to enter the carb. I would think that someone must have worked on this and dropped the screw into the carb where it lodged for a while before falling into the cylinder. Russell Thos...

Re: Extra Fuel Tank

Most 1500s will NOT achieve 40 mpg at "highway speeds". A few do actually. I owned two of them, a 94 and a 98, and both averaged 33 mpg over trips of 4,000 miles. I kept meticulous records on a spreadsheet, which I won't bore you with. the spreadsheet did an automatic recalculation of AVERAGE MPG =...

Hot weather vs cold weather

When it's hot (summer) my 92 GL1500 Interstate will run rough when accelerating from about 1200 to 1500+ rpm like when coming out of a turn from a corner. But when it gets cold, below 50 degrees for our 3.5 days of winter, it runs very well and smooth at that acceleration. Is there a sensor that mon...

Yeah, looks like an aftermarket add on. I don't think Honda ever had connectors like that. I would trace the wires back to the other end and you may find the other end not connected either. Re: Need advice on repairing a torn slide diaphragm

I had a carb, (RF), that wasn't getting any fuel and after cleaning it ran well for a couple of days. Then it quit getting fuel again. I took them off again and cleaned them again and the same happened a second time. Nothing was wrong with float level and fuel was at the carb inlet. I found that the...

This could be some kind of security/alarm system, but, you would have to contact the previous owner to get the key fob remote, if that is what it is.

Re: Need advice on repairing a torn slide diaphragm

My thought would be to replace all four of them as all the rubber is as old as what was torn and will likely tear again. It would be best to replace them all instead of taking a chance on an unknown repair process. So, it costs a little more to replace them but on a nice looking bike like that for o...
