Hi Guys, I purchased a '78 gl1000 this past fall, I got it at a very reasonable price, it runs, but rough, I've removed the engine, it has about 80k on it. My plan is to make a naked bike with it. My question, I'd like to hear everyones thoughts, I thought about converting it to a single carb, but I...

Re: Nightmare work by previous owner

I picked up a '84 interstate a few months back, the previous owner had owned it for 22 of it's 30 year life, he said he was a fair weather ride and it showed as the bike was in very good shape for it's age. He also told me the radio didn't work any more but he didn't know why. I said I wasn't concer...

stator wiring

I just picked up an '84 interstate, the stator has been replace a few years back but the three wire plug for the stator beside the battery is still there. I know this plug was notorious for melting from the heat produced and is often direct wired to prevent this meltdown. This bike still has the thr...

Re: '86 sei alternator conversion

Vern, thanks very much, this is very helpful, I see now I'm going to have to make a longer lower bracket, I was trying to put mine on with the bracket dimensions for a carburated model, the pics you took will be a great help. I'll post here once I'm successful !!!! thanks again Dave.

'86 sei alternator conversion

I'm trying to install and external alternator on my '86 sei, I purchased an alternator from a '95 Geo metro from the local salvage yard. I made some brackets after cutting away the brace under the upper faring. The problem I'm having is I can't seem to get the alternator to sit far enough back that ...
