Darkside pressure question???

I am running a Federal Formoza FD2 175/60 R16 on the rear of my 96 Aspy (not the best choice maybe), and I'm running it at 37 psi to achieve satisfactory handling, but still has a bit of instability in quick turning at road speed, and wanders at 25-35 mph. Question-anybody out there over-inflating? ...

Installing a GL 1100 engine assembled completely. And maybe a few other tips...

Upload a YouTube link of a 7 minute video. I completely assembled a GL 1100 engine sitting on my workbench, and wondered if I could install the whole thing completely assembled. I went on the internet searching for an answer, and the only thing I found, was a man that removed a complete GL 1200 engi...

Re: Help with my 80 goldwing

If you put car oil in it with friction modifiers (ie 10w30), thats probably your problem.
Only use oil with nothing in bottom half of circle on back of oil bottle. Also, Lucas oil stabilizer can only be used in limited amounts.

The natural look

Pulled my engine for a few things, thought I would clean'em up a little while I'm at it....cleaned the engine well, then I found some gas and oil resistant 500 degree F clear engine enamel by rustoleum. Sounds like the right stuff - hope it works....with help from on high.

Re: Sissy bar on 1980 Goldwing

I'm pretty sure its not going to work with the stock gl1100 seat. The rear of the gl1100 seat being tapered like it is, will not let the passenger lean back far enough to touch the sissy bar even if it did bolt up. I just fabracated me one for my 1980 a few days ago. I used a gw luggage rack, cut of...

Re: Oil leak

Sence thats on the left side (kick stand side) of the bike, that makes it kinda easy. That bottom section of frame comes out (unbolts). You must put it on the center stand to remove it, because the side kick stand is attached to the section of frame that you will be removing.

Re: Oil leak

You may be able to screw a 1/4 - 20 bolt in the hole. Yes, its a cross thread, but, with a fiber washer behind it, it might stop the oil.
I think I would use a grade 8 bolt if I tried it. Grade 8s are strong, and less likely to break.

1980 gl1100 vacuum advance surgery

Bringing back an old topic-A few days ago, I pulled my 1100 engine for a new stator, and while I have it off, i thought I would replace the diaphragm in my vacuum advance (has never worked sence I've owned it-been plunged). With Gods help, not only was I able to repair it, I was also able to leave i...

put you in the gl1100 parts business.

Ok-without going into all the details why-I want to get rid of my 1100 stuff. I have a 1980 standard vetter running with tags and inspection, a 1982 standard parts bike that runs, but has a bad trans. The 80 has 163xxx miles, but has new crank bearings and clutch, new donlops, it's in good condition...

I agree with you 100%! Not long ago, it was revealed to me (that sounds strange-but I do believe God orchestrated the events that showed me-long story) that my rear brake light was out on my gl1100 (little linkage spring had came off), and, my wife's brake lights were out on her subaru outback (shor...

Micro switch seems to work-it de-activates the cruise control.
Just wondering if a 96 Aspy was prone to a problem like this for some reason.....?

front brake light

Front brake does not turn brake light on, but does deactivate cruise control.

Re: Help me make up my mind?

I suppose you could...take all spark plugs out-insert screw-it type tester, put bike in fifth gear, and with some help-push it (in paved surface?). That's not a vary "good" method, but I suppose it's possible. It will work without carbs installed.
