Re: Seat

I have an 06 1800 that I put an Ultimate king seat on with backrest and passenger backrest. I've been happy with the decision, quality, price....well not cheap but it is a Goldwing!!

Re: Selling my 1995 Aspencade with 25k, should I allow a Test Drive?

Mikenbrenda, in comparison the 1500 can haul (hold) more stuff in the bags and trunk compared to the 1800. If they would put a 1800 engine in the 1500 frame, chassis, that would be a hell of a bike IMO. I haven't been through a hip replacement, but both knees are replaced, most recent was January of...

Re: Selling my 1995 Aspencade with 25k, should I allow a Test Drive?

Several years ago when I sold my 1500 Aspencade, I made it clear to the person who wanted to test ride it that he was a licensed mc driver, yes just having a license doesn't mean that much, second I watched him back it out of our garage and onto our driveway which has a slight hill to it and he did ...

Re: Recommendation for battery tender for 2003 GL1800

I've been very happy with the service out of our Deltran Battery Tender Jr's , we've had ours for close to 10 years now! I use the one on my wing for winter storage only, my wife doesn't ride her bike (VTX 1300T) as often as I do, so hers will get plugged in several times through the season. It seem...

Re: Defective "new" tires

Sorry you're having issues with your Dunlop E4, I'm on my second set of E4S, and no problems so far. I also ran 5 sets of E3s on my 1500 '96 Aspencade, no issues with those tires at all. IMO I think you might be happier with your tires if you bump up your tire pressure to 41, bike handles well and y...

Re: Engine tick

Earlier back you said you changed the oil to Mobil 1 10w30, did you put the motorcycle Mobil oil in the bike? I don't believe it has affected the way the bike runs, but the automotive oil DOESN'T have the transmission additives that the motorcycle oil has in it. Good luck!

Re: What's Happening Today?

No problem Sassy, I dealt with pain for 15 years, dr. told me they don't like to do replacement surgery until you're 60 years old, because they generally only last 20 years. Aleve became my friend the last 5-7 years, I can know ween myself off that crap.😂

Re: What's Happening Today?

Sassy, I'm giving myself 3-4 months before riding again. So May 1 would be approximately 3.5 months. This time is similar but different, this time is my right knee, things seem to be progressing slightly ahead of last time, PT told me no driving until 3-4 weeks, I drove my truck last Saturday, no pr...

Re: RPM surging under partial throttle

One thing I learned when I purchased my used 06 Goldwing, it acted differently until I put close to 1,000 miles on it. The PO didn't drive it alot, IMO and the more I rode it some of the weird quirks went away, just sayin....ride it!!

Re: What's Happening Today?

Still recovering from knee replacement surgery, its a marathon, not a sprint! But no rush, we have over a foot of snow on the ground and today's temperature is 15°, so we have a few months to go. Lots of great TV 📺, Olympics, Pro Bowl 🤮, and plenty of great reruns to watch!! Stay warm!!🥶😳😊

Re: Quitting motorcycles?

As I am reading this article I have just had knee replacement #2, #1 was just over a year ago. That being said, I can hardly wait to ride again. I have put May 1st as a tentative date for starting to ride again, only time will tell how that date holds up. When I get to the point of questioning my ab...

Recovering...that's what's happening today...and for the next 3 months +.I had knee replacement #2 on the 20th, the first one was done last year and was successful, so I'm using same group as before. My plan is to be back on the wing in May. I've already had 3 PT sessions and range of motion is alre...

Re: Disappearing Honda Shops

Sadly very common with Honda shops, although my local shop will still work on my 06 1800...for now. That said I know 2 mechanics who are both very experienced Goldwing mechanics who will get the bulk of my business. Good luck!

Re: Custom Seat for 1800

Stock seat for a tall person on an 1800 is terrible. Does not allow enough leg room. I purchased an Ultimate king w/backrest and the passenger backrest also. A large expense, but made the bike very comfortable for me. No regrets. Good luck!!

I really like my key fob for my '06, didn't think it would be a big deal but I really like it. I even found a rubber protector for it so it doesn't scratch the dash on the bike.

Re: Replacing Trunk Tail Light Bult

Sadly I have been down this road with both tail lamp fixtures. One side 2 of the 3 acorn nuts are stripped, they won't come off. The other side was pretty easy (in the realm of Goldwing projects) all 3 acorn nuts came off no problem! The bulbs are 7443. Honda could have put an extra 1/4" of wir...

I carry a few extra tools, 10 & 12 mm, Allen wrench sockets, ratchet and extensions, duct tape, small medical kit, sunscreen, cash, cards, a few extra rags, windshield cleaner, rain suits, gloves, and a jacket. Do your maintenance on the bike, and you won't ever need some of the bigger items. An...

I am obviously one of the odd ones here, the 1800 is my second wing. I had my 1500 for approximately 14 years, this one is on year #4. I have not dropped either wing...yet! Have I been close to o doing it...YES! I'm sure my days are numbered now...I honestly don't recall the last bike or time I drop...

Re: Feedback on E4's

Purchased my 06 with E4's on it, less than 500 miles on them when I got the bike. Ran 41f and 41r for air pressure. I noticed the wear on the tires at about 13k, and an increase in noise. I had them replaced at 14.5k, could have probably gone another 1k with no problems, got a great deal on them ins...

Re: Tire separation

I am replacing my E4S next Monday with another set of E4S. They currently have over 14k on them, the front is almost 5 years old, the rear is about 4.5 years old. Tires are starting to make a little noise, cracking on the front, and just wore out. I wasn't to good on the tire pressure on the first h...

Dillusionalm, yes you can clean the switches, but Royswing believes the spring is broken. That was my switches problem, tiny little spring WAS broken. We confirmed that after we replaced the control switch on my 1500

Re: Replacement 35200-MCA-A73 switch or repair?

Those handle bar controls are not cheap units to replace. Did you try ebay? I had to replace the signal side on my 1500, but it wasn't $350!! Then you need to install it, I opted to have it done at a shop, sadly that was 2hrs labor, the wires are fairly well buried in the top end of the motorcycle. ...

Re: Shinko Tires

To each their own, the common factor I see with the Shinko tires is cheap and they don't last very long. That said, is it worth saving a couple of dollars, to endanger your life, and have to spend more time working on your mc constantly changing tires. Doesn't make sense to me...🤔
