Re: Stereo getting very hot. The AMP under the main console

To start with, I'd contact the guy at Wing Connect http://www.wingconnect.com/ Go to his website and read through it. Send him an email to see what his thoughts are. And then send him the radio to work on it if needed. He is very good at GL1800 radio repair. Mike B, Thanks for that, he helped me ou...

Re: Stereo getting very hot. The AMP under the main console

Thanks for the input, the speaker wire might be a thing, I never thought of that. As it has kinked on the left side of the top box when closing the lid. So I will check that out.

Stereo getting very hot. The AMP under the main console

Ive been throught the Tech list a bit looking for an answer to my 2005 model stereo. I replaced the CD unit with an up to date MP3 that plugged in and away it goes. So its not the CD. Nor is it the MP3 I believe. I started it up one day, and thought the stereo is not on and would not turn on. Ok, ch...

Re: Clear coat aluminum wheels??

I was thinking of getting my wheels chromed. What are peoples thoughts on that for my GL1800. I am about to get my cylinder heads and front engine cover done, as they are going off, so to are my wheels and I thought, Chrome... are there any bad adverse effects for doing this other than cost

Re: New 2018 Goldwing Survey

I love the look, and that it had a front end upgrade. Until I have ridden it, and gone over it and, and then think hard about losing all that luggage space, will I decide. I have a 2004 / 1800 and sometimes it lacks the space I need to get my gear around. The other thing is, The Apple system...I hat...

Re: HANDS GO NUMB EVEN ON A SHORT RIDE

There are a number of reasons why our hands go numb. But if you go to a Nuerosurgeon (spelling not sure) they can do an electrical impulse test to measure the signals getting to your hands. This also picks up carpal tunnel. I had to have mine done several years ago, in Australia, not sure of the USA...

CD player, error in changing discs

My CD player on my 2004 wing has just started to come up with Error in changing from any disc. I can no longer play CD. Has anyone had this issue and is there a way to fix it, or should I replace it and what I could replace it with. I run an MP3 player through AUX, but the sound is not as loud or go...

Re: Dunlop Elite 4

Having run the elite 3 front and rear, I was impressed with only the rear. I hated the front so I switched to a Bridgestone which was a hell of a lot better. The Dunlop moved around to much and felt skatie, worse on the wet roads. The tyre combo of a Bridgestone front and a Dunlop rear feels fine an...

Re: HIDS for 2005 GL1800

Thanks, due to the nature of the question I wrote to many of the places that were selling these HIDs which is what I thought I was getting. Yes they are LEDS, but was assured by the supplier which I will not name, perhaps he didnt know either. But will correct him about it. Getting a refund is what ...

HIDS for 2005 GL1800

I recently purchased a complete set of HIDS for my 2005 1800, all the hype on how good they are. The ones I ordered came from ShowChrome an 80 Watt LED H7. I did High and Low beams. Upon taking it out 2 nights ago, into the dark country side, I found that I was really disappointed with them. I could...

Re: Auto Tire on the Rear, GL1800

I am not willing to cross over to running a car tyre. But I did ask on this forum many questions and I always went back to a MC tyre (notice in Australia we spell Tyre the right way ha ha) I have had the bike for 2 years now, and I put Dunlop Elite 3 front and rear, I am about to change the front tr...

Re: Impaired riding

You ask if it is in other countries. Well its a known fact that here in Australia we also run our events around Pubs. No matter the occasion there are pubs, no one goes to a coffee house usually unless its in a place called Canungra in the south east corner of Queensland. Also Robertsons Pies down i...

Re: Joe Rocket Airmesh Jackets

I've had Joe Rocket gear before (pants, jacket), and the jacket I had I absolutely loved - it was an all-seasons jacket, with zip out covers and liners that went anywhere from a super cold-weather jacket with thermal and windproof linings to a super hot-weather mesh jacket. I actually wore it out, ...

Re: Joe Rocket Airmesh Jackets

Talked to a rider wearing that jacket at a GWRRA meet in Harrisonburg, Va. Very Nice jacket! Fit on him was very good and the color combo, with the wing on the back, was sharp. Thinking of getting one myself. Hope this helps. Yes, any info is good. I really like the look of it in the port wine and ...

Joe Rocket Airmesh Jackets

Helping me to decide should I buy a Joe Rocket Airmesh Jacket made for a Goldwing, as in its got the Goldwing logo. Down under in Australia Joe Rocket is not really available here, and I really like the Port wine/Grey colour in this jacket. To buy means I can not try on, nor feel it and to ship it i...

Re: Noise when cornering

I take it that is on your 1500, I have looked at the metzler but funny enough the Honda dealer steers me away... Probably not a big enough profit margin on Metzlers for your Dealership. I have not heard of them being problematic, and in fact, I have seen them installed on many, many Goldwings at th...

Re: Noise when cornering

Do you run a car tyre, as for insurance I have never in my life insured a bike, so I am not worried about that, i am just thinking of the handling what it would be like. I think I would leave the front as a motorcycle tyre. But will look into it further as tyres are getting due in a few thousand ks...

Re: Noise when cornering

Not game enough to go to the Darkside on the rear. Also I heard in Australia its illegal. I have checked through the Australian Design Rules (ADR), which is the rule book for road vehicles, and there does not appear to be a rule against having a 'different' tyre on as long as it is within the same ...

Re: Noise when cornering

Is the front brake rotor cover on your bike an aftermarket item? GL1800's here don't have that. Yes it is an aftermarket it came with the bike when I got it 18 months ago. I believe from the seller he got it imported from the US, but it also had a tow bar, chrome aftermarket side stand, the chrome ...

Re: Noise when cornering

The Dunlops I had on my 1500 made the same noise. Here is an interesting article on Darkside, http://www.ridermagazine.com/browse-by-type/tires/tales-from-the-dark-side-putting-car-tires-on-motorcycles.htm/ New to this site, but get good responses. Re: Noise when cornering

Thanks for your comments, it does not really bother me, I was more concerned that maybe a bearing might be causing it. The Honda dealer could not work out why the noise is like that. Both tyres are not showing any cupping, they continue to hold a pretty even shape. Next set I will try something else...

Noise when cornering

My 2004 1800 I have had for about 18 months. Got it with very low kms, and now have about 48kms. I replaced the tyres with Dunlop elite 3's front and rear. What I get is the bike seems to hum along in the straights but as I start to tip into a corner, it gets a howling noise happening. I am wonderin...

Re: 2004 GL1800 rear brake coming on by itself

Could not see one, so took notice and pic to show if Honda put one on while the have it. Filled up only 75 kms ago and down to half tank on the gauge (not accurate) but usually has not budged far,so there is drag on something. Pedal is hard to push down when I left it and master cylinder half full. ...
