Re: GL1500 windshield hardware

Thank you all for the input, needless to say I feel like a moron not noticing the difference between a Phillips and a JIS fastener.
I found some allen head fasteners that work like a champ.

GL1500 windshield hardware

Fellow wingers I need your help ! I am replacing the windshield on my GL 1500 and the fasteners were so tight ( I tried penetrating oil and it didn't work so well ) that the phillips heads stripped out so I had to use a screw removal tool to get the darn things out thus junking the fasteners. I sear...

Seeking fairing parts for 1996 GL1500 SE

Winger76 is seeking a lower fairing cover ( left side ) and a fairing inner cover, CB cover, ( left side ) for a 1996 GL1500 SE I was tightening things down and I assume due to age and heat it just crumbled in my hand at the fastening point. Any insight on who or where to find these parts would be h...

Re: Lack of tire availability

Wilmo,

Please see my post "DO NOT PURCHASE METZLER TIRES "
Pirelli is the parent company of Metzler.
The Metzler 880 will not hold up on the wing, believe me, I found out by default.

Re: A variety GL1500 body parts available

From Winger 76,
I am seeking the left front fairing inner cover, left CB radio / vent and gas tank cover and left lower level deflector.
I didn't drop it but I guess through age it has become brittle and crumbled at the fastener hole when tightening it up
Argh....

Re: DO NOT PURCHASE METZLER TIRES !

Follow up on the post about the Metzler... I took both the front and rear M880 off and replaced with the Dunlop Elite 4. Just got them scuffed in to wear the newness off of them (about 100 mi). So far.. So good... I hoping no more issues with them except when they need replaced as they reach their u...

I ride a 96 1500SE and have been looking at the megaphone exhaust to install.
Has anyone installed these on their ride ?
What do you like and/or dislike about them ?
Were they a difficult install ?

Re: Tires, who woulda thunk ?

Ding Dong, Per your request, I was able to get the DOT numbers on the tire. EB 44 E223 4208 Come to find out this tire was manufactured in '08'. They are stamped "Made in Germany " They were sitting in a warehouse somewhere until they were put on my bike in 2011. Now I'm more than pissed ! seeing th...

Re: Tires, who woulda thunk ?

I would like to thank everyone's input on this issue. Hopefully the manufacture will see this post and someone will say and employ safety over profits. It seems every since Metz started manufacturing in Brazil the quality has gone to s#@% ! I also didn't know Metzeler is owned by Pirelli. Google Met...

Tires, who woulda thunk ?

I have a 96 1500 SE that I had to replace tires on it 3 years ago. I took it to the local dealer and was recommended Metzeler's. It is garaged on a stand in the winter season with periodic pressure checks. Last year I pulled it out and found the front tire sidwall was split on both sides. After trai...
