New seat

I'm thinking of upgrading the seat on my '94 GL1500A this winter. My problem is a bit unique so advice is appreciated. I currently have the original seat with an aftermarket backrest which works fine for me, but is a problem when my wife wants to ride along. The problem is that she is paralyzed on t...

Re: Proper following distance and lane position

I have an idea for a bumper sticker. It's probably too big to put on a bike, but I'd sure put it on my car. "To insure a safe distance between us the CLOSER you get the SLOWER I must go"!!

Re: pre-ride checks

I usually forget to unplug the battery tender!! What's a good TPMS? where is a good place to get one? How much should I pay for one and how hard is it to install?

Re: Intercom noise

Well, I cut up a clean old sock and wrapped the mics. If the rain lets up a bit over the weekend we'll give it a try. Stay tuned for results!!

Re: Intercom noise

Turning the volume down helped lower the background noise, but then we are yelling to hear each other which we could do before. The kits suggested cost more than the headsets so that rules that out. I think my next move is to find bigger foam covers for the mics.

Intercom noise

For Christmas last year we got matching helmets and headsets that use the stock 5 pin plug. With the nice weather the last couple of weekends we finally got the chance to try them out. I thought that the intercom mic would be voice activated and filter out the road and wind noise, but it doesn't whi...

If you go to Yellowstone be sure it's after labor day if you don't like cities you certainly won't like the summer crowds there, and for the record we drive on the RIGHT side of the road over here!!

The centrifical force that goes with banking on a curve should keep the fuel level on the same angle as the carb I would think.

Re: Lane Splitting

I have split lanes many years ago while living in SoCal, but only when traffic was at a total standstill, as soon as things started moving I would get back in line. That is not a problem here in southern Illinois as there is not enough traffic to split!!

Re: Full of hot air ... or NOT!

So should my '94 Aspy have air adjustable front forks? If so where do I check the pressure? There is a sticker in the trunk that says progressive suspension was installed in Dec. 2007, does that make a difference in if front suspension is adjustable or in pressure recommendations for the rear?

Re: LED LIGHTS

I'd be interested to know how it works out on the road at night and exactly what, where from, cost and what if anything you'd do different if you had it to do over. I'm a big fan of LEDs, but there is such a variety available that it gets confusing!

Re: OK.....I'm putting my foot dow

In 1976 I was riding my '75 GL1000 with a group up Mt. Wilson over Pasadena, Ca. I was the only one in the group with saddlebags so we had iced down some cold drinks to share while enjoying the view from the top. On the way back down the ice had melted but not drained out of the saddlebag and as luc...

Re: Repair Manual

So who needs a manual when you have this site? When I did my timing belts I just took the laptop out to the garage and followed the step by step with pictures that was probably a lot more detailed than the manual! When I had a small electrical problem I posted it here, had an answer within a few hou...

Re: Licensing of Riders

In the spring of 1975 at the ripe old age of 23, living in Pasadena, Ca. and going to school in downtown L.A. I decided that a motorcycle would get better mileage than my old truck so I went down the street to Honda of Pasadena and bought a brand new CB550. with almost no experience on a bike I rode...

Campfire funnies

A group of couples around the campfire on a Saturday night. The guys had been fishing and one of them caught a trophy bass. They were talking all about it, the tackle, the bait, where and how. The women had gone shopping in town where one of them had scored a $100 sweater for just $5. They were goin...

Re: Self inflicted battery trouble

Thanks guys. That battery was on it's last legs anyway. It would crank pretty good, but the bike would not start until I released the starter button. You all recommended that I replace it last spring to cure that problem. I did put it on the charger all day Saturday, but it still would only buzz not...

Self inflicted battery trouble

Last weekend I put my '94 GL1500A away for the winter. I put it on the center stand in the corner of the garage and all was right with the world until this weekend when I decided there were too many keys on the key hooks by the back door and maybe the camper and bike keys could be put away for the w...

Re: 2015 Goldwing (40th Anniversary) disappointment

Face it guys, we're no longer a desirable demographic. Honda obviously does not think they can sell enough redesigned Gold Wings to justify the required investment. They would rather invest in sportier models for the younger and more desirable demographic so I guess we'll have to hope we can keep ou...

I'm still working for a living for the next few years, but 4th of July 2017 I'm going on a permanent vacation!! That's when the traveling begins. My bike is set up for a sidecar which the wife says she will require for longer trips so I will be looking into that. This trip was a quick trip to Wiscon...

1st 2 wheel road trip in over 38 years!

My last 2 wheel road trip was on a '75 Wing in the summer of '76. I rode from LA to southern Illinois then sold the bike the day before I met my now wife. Marriage, kids, career and all that kept me from owning a bike until last April when I wheeled and dealed my way into a '94 GL1500A with only 90,...
