Re: What clothing do you wear

Weather dependent and bike dependent, But at the least; Arai signet-Q helmet, boots sidi racing boots or cortech "high top sneaker looking" motorcycle riding boots, Bohn armor pads under kevlar or leather lined motorcycle jeans, leather or textile jacket with full armor.

Re: smell gas

I chased the issue for months, it seemed that mine was coming from somewhere near the base of the carbs. I could not find any sign of fuel dripping but the smell was there when riding and when stopped. While doing some other service, cant remember what now, I had the right side plastic off and was r...

Re: Keeping your windscreen clear during rain

I use the Rain coat Pro, in a small pump spray, works well, just doesnt seem to last long enough between uses. I have used RainX in automotive application for 40 years, a Great product, when the plastic produce was introduced and was sent a coupon to try it. I did. As I told the rainx people, was ve...

Re: Off idle throttle hesitation

Just a thought. I have had some type of a fuel leak (smell fuel but no dripping) and have now found the issue, it is the connection between the right carb and intake, I was able to tighten and may have resolved. What may you ask does this have to do with hesitation??? In the process of searching for...

Re: Need your opinions, brake issue

Sunday attempted to bleed but never could get air to stop from coming out.
Will rebuild the master cylinder first I guess.
Would you guys agree? Going to purchase the rubber internals kit (OEM Honda) from cyclemax along with the Oring for the reservoir attachment.

Re: Headlight Modulator

Referring to a go signal, myth, does not happen. I have one from Kriss industries, most high tech and well made. Recently put one on my 2014 harley sportster 48, Kriss is only company that can make one that functions properly with the can-bus system. The owner is engineer and has a "rocket" scientis...

Need your opinions, brake issue

96 gl1500se, purchased used bout 3 years ago with 2000 on clock. At time of purchase the foot brake had no hydraulic pressure. Bleeding resolved the issue and functioned perfectly for almost 8k miles. Recently, after sitting for about 3 months, was riding and after about 15 miles I had low to no bra...

Re: gas smell

Problem solved! Not sure how though??? I did find the mounting clamps screws, 3 of four a little lose, tightened them. Still had some smell, but seemed to dissipate quicker. Rode today, NO smell while or after riding. Bike had not been ridden for 2+ months prior to having the issue. I suspected some...

Re: Need help!! Bolt ID

Auto shutoff is perfect, literately looks like new, no leak, dust nothing . Unique thing about this bike is that was sitting almost 20 years inside under cover. Only has 10k now(2k ) when I got it. So most everything looks and is in new condition. Once i find where these bolts go I am going to ride ...

Re: Need help!! Bolt ID

I agree they mount plastic to metal probably, but cant remember where, lol As to gas smell, seems better after tighting mounting clamps but still there somewhat. but now I know it is not fuel leaking that could cause fire. Need to ride it some and see then. Thanks for asking. Love the bike, but what...

Need help!! Bolt ID

Removed all front plastic, airfilter and radiators in search of fuel leak.
Tightened the mounting clamps, found nothing leaking.
Now after reinstalling everything have these two bolts left. 10mm head.

Any thoughts on where they go???

Re: Eliminating Stereo???

Understood about the weigh, and did consider the "interconnection" of the many systems. Will just button it back up and ride happy!!
Only reason I even considered was having carb issues and had to remove, actually weighs near 5# and very high.

Eliminating Stereo???

I never have used the radio on my wing, I have a blue tooth and use it with phone. That said, has anyone completely removed the head unit from bike to save weight?

Re: gas smell

The boot clamps being loose is a very good possibility BUT, how do I get to them to tighten them, Cant even see the screws.
Insight would be very much appreciated.
Rebuilding the carbs would not be an issue, have done to many many carbs 100s of times, just gaining access to these is a bitch!

Re: gas smell

I'm having same issue with 96 SE, after removing a lot above the carbs, it appears that the leak is near base/between the carbs. Does not look like much is leaking, just moist. Tomorrow going to use inspection mirror to see if I can see exactly it is coming from. The smell goes away after the bike s...
